After having been to the previous cascade lodge I had somewhat high expectations for this place. (Some of my most frequented establishments being bolete and grille 3501) I didn't even expect much of this place, but wow was it still disappointing. Our bill was close to $300 for some of the worst food I've ever had. Believe me when I say I would rather eat at a chain restaurant or even a diner before this place. My sister actually gagged at the table when she tried my salmon that had salmon Cavier on top. Such a shame as it is such a beautiful location with SO much potential and beautifully renovated.. Hard to believe anyone would enjoy anything here aside from the drinks maybe which were just okay. My sister and brother in law ordered the chicken which sounded delicious but came out looking more like fish and was cold on top of it. Mind you we truly are not the type to complain but our waitress did not even check on us after our food was out so at the end of the meal my sister mentioned how their food was cold and aside from an apology all that was comped was $3 in coffee- not even 1 of the $33 chicken breast meal. Do not waste your money. Included is a picture of the $33 disaster. Not seasoned or seared it looked disgusting. I was actually just sick from typing this review: and no I'm not being dramatic it was THAT bad.

They are VERY uncomfortable....nothing worse than sitting down to a meal on a cold/hard chair. Second - we were there on a Sunday night.....were really looking forward to ordering the fries...[the way they were made at Bowmans - same chef]. They were out of fries!! I get burning thru your inventory, but running out of fries is akin to running out of salt and pepper when operating a restaurant. The fries come with many of the items on the menu and this is a bar n' grill after all. The menu is "trying" a bit to hard, meaning everything strives to be unique in some way. Nothing really wrong with that, but it might be good to have some clean "singles up the middle" on the menu w/out getting too complex/fancy. I order the fried chicken; one of each piece [thigh, breast & drum stick] that you are charged individually for. It was "ok".....the meat was of pretty good quality, but a little skimpy for what you were being charged. The crust was a little "under-done".....still some wet batter between the meat and underside of the crust. From the surface it looked fine.....when you take a bite.....ehhh. Let me say that we were pretty excited to learn that the chef from Bowmans bought the place and planned to re-open. They had some real winners.....French Onion Soup.....the Fries......really good stuff. Be nice if some of the old menu was brought back. Pulling for your success.

Library Lounge at Skytop Lodge feels like stepping back in time in the best possible way…read more From the moment you walk in, everything slows down. Dim lighting, big comfortable leather chairs, bookshelves lining the walls, a fully stocked bar, and historic photos throughout the space create a classic lodge vibe that feels timeless without being stuffy. It is cozy, polished, and incredibly relaxing. The staff is knowledgeable and clearly takes pride in what they serve. The craft cocktails are well made and thoughtful, and if you prefer beer, there are solid options there too. As a bourbon lover, I especially enjoyed their private barrel pick served neat, a real treat and easily a standout pour. This is a perfect pre-dinner or post-evening stop, we have done both, and it works beautifully either way. Dress is slightly casual but leans upscale, and while pricing is a bit higher than average, it feels completely worth it for the setting, quality, and experience. We sank into the chairs, talked story with friends, and lost track of time, which really says it all. If you are anywhere near Skytop Lodge, make sure this is on your list. Plan extra time, you will want to linger.

Ambiance is lovely--great decor, comfortable seating, a gorgeous bar, and live music. Fun cocktails and a solid wine list (though the "by the glass" options are a bit limited). Ultimately, though, I think the ambiance and service are doing the heaviest lifting here--it's a bit of a "vibe dining" spot. The food is definitely good, don't get me wrong...but it's not "wow," which was a little disappointing given that you're gonna be spending $$$$. (Most entrees are $30+ and they're pretty standard fare that's not especially inventive--steaks, a few pastas, obligatory short rib dish, elevated burgers, salmon.) We liked everything just fine but I didn't taste a dish that made me go "oh man, I gotta come back for that." Instead I'm thinking "maybe I should try something else next time I'm in." I do like that your entree comes with a salad. The physical menu itself could also use some work, as its quality doesn't match the care and luxury atmosphere of the place overall. Numerous misspellings and a lack of specificity on ingredients in several of the dishes that leave the diner unclear on what, exactly, they're getting. For example, there's an entree that's described simply as "grilled chicken breast served with rosemary potato wedges and grilled zucchini." Are there spices or sauces on that chicken? Are we talking just plain salt/pep? Herbs? What? Anyway, it's fine. It's a solid date night option. We'll be back.

It reminded me of a restaurant that should be in Rittenhouse Square or the like. The menu was extensive and high-end. It would've been nice if they had offered bread at the start though which they didn't. We had the tuna tartare appetizer. It was delicious and very filling. My boyfriend got the lobster mac and cheese, which was absolutely delicious. However, there wasn't much lobster. The side salads were good. I ordered lamb which I should have asked questions because I was expecting a rack of lamb and what I got was a stewed hunk of lamb on a bone next to a mushy pile of polenta covered in what looks like marinara sauce I wanted to give a four star review for this because that's not something I would've enjoyed eating and I sent it back however somebody else might've liked it very much. In fact, I think the people sitting across from us ate every last scrap of that same dish off their plate, however, I wouldn't have liked it at all. I wish I had ordered one of their steak options, which sounded delicious. I shared some of the lobster mac & cheese, and ate a lot of the appetizer so I didn't end up ordering another entrée. We would definitely go back. I just have to read them many more carefully and ask questions.

We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). But ended up staying for the vibes and plus we were super hungry. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but I believe she had pink in her hair. She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. Plus the burger lived up to the hype. Thank you to the waitress we had you made our day!

Parking can be tight on the street, but there are municipal lots nearby that make things easy. They usually have around ten beers on tap, a solid mix of styles that changes often enough to keep things interesting. There are a few TVs, and during slower weekday hours they keep things cozy by only opening the bar area. On weekends, when the place fills up, they expand seating into the section by their brewing area. If you're just grabbing beer to go, they sell four-packs of their own brews. For food, you can either take your beer into the market's food court or bring your meal back into the brewery. Both setups work fine depending on what kind of night you're after. If you are not a beer person, fortunately there are Stateside seltzers, and Surfside hard iced teas available. A relaxed local spot with good beer, friendly people, and a nice addition to Ambler's growing brewery scene.
