I was tired of all the maintenance my Queen Palms were requiring each year and made the decision to cut them down. 3 trees between 3-4 stories tall with multiple seed branches. I called multiple tree services and their pricing was all similar. However -Duran's had the business insurance which made a difference to me. The owner, now disabled ( not work related) showed up in a wheelchair which majorly impressed me. His workers worked quickly and safely as he sat in observance. They were polite and cleaned up perfectly. So if anyone needs a tree service, I'd recommend Duran's. The only issue I'd like to comment on was not on their service but - they reached out to The City of Brentwood ( at my request) to see if they could unlock the gate leading to the easement behind my property as it would have been easier to rid the tree trimmings over the fence rather than carrying from my back yard to the street. Duran's has cut the trees twice and cut back the ground cover at least every year for the building I have lived in for 15 years. I live in a 12 unit apartment building with private park/yard that is my primary view. It is fenced with a locked gate and only used by the residents of the building and generations of squirrels, birds, raccoons, and other creatures.Every window in my unit has direct access and view shed of the area cut by Duran. The first time Duran cut the trees multiple people filed formal complaints with the City of Oakland after children using power tools without safety glasses or any kind of protective gear were spotted in the crew. At the time I kept the management firm informed of any issues going on with the building. When we called the city out of concern they had already received two calls complaining. To avoid legal issues in the future, the management firm had removed them from their vendor list. A couple of months ago the building was sold separately from the private lot/park. The lot has protected trees including 2 very old elms and two black acacia's. To obfuscate the issues of the protected trees, Duran was hired by the owner to make trim any branches that went over the building or the street. The trees were terribly damaged. Duran topped one of the trees (causes weakening of the roots). Worse, they damaged two of the protected elm trees. A trained arborist knows that you cut the branches upwards. Duran cut downward, flaying branches. It was more like flaying than trimming. It was painful to watch as there was no honoring of these beautiful, protected old trees. Only one tree had branches leaning over the street that needed to be cut back. Instead they brutalized 4 other trees not causing any issues, not near wires or any other problems. Duran started with electric saws and chippers before 7 am. Duran blocked the driveways with tree branches and vehicles, trapping people needing to get to work in their garages. They moved when asked, but made people late. There was no signs posted ahead of time of work scheduled. Once again, Duran brought an infant and two young boys (7,8 yr olds?) to the sight. Every time a tree was brutally cut with an electric saw the baby would cry. When a huge branch would fall one of the small boys would "scream" like he fell out of a tree. This went on for hours. I reported them to the city again for child labor abuse. (One of the young boys was using an electric saw without a helmet or safety glasses. He could not have been older than 9). Being able to climb a tree and use an electric saw does not make you an arborist. read more

Used this company 4 years ago and they did a very good job Efrin who was very polite and courteous along with his crew came out again gave me the best estimate and did a fantastic job especially for my difficult wife. His ninja tree climbers carefully dropped the big branches to the ground crew as not to damage anything in our yard and had my palms and six trees done in about four hours. I held off writing this review, because I was so angry and didn't want to write in anger. Ecological butchers. They worked on our yard with absolutely no care or regard for the trees and wildlife. The pruning was atrocious - they virtually topped one of our elms, and destroyed a beautiful old growth ivy climbing another of the trees, leaving the yard looking half dead. They had kids working some of the machinery, and there was a baby screaming in the truck while they were there. Hire a professional tree surgeon, not these cowboys. read more
