This is my rating of how they are doing business now. They were great in the past. Now their open…read morehours are cut to the bone, they have no repair service, and their prices are through the roof. They say they will call you about something, and they don't. In my recent experience, only one person works there in their office/showroom. Their vans are constantly parked in the handicapped spaces in their parking lot. It is a shame that this business looks like it is about to fail, as it used to be a "go to" for blinds and shades. The sole employee I have found there told me they have been unable to hire the staff they need, and this is probably the truth. This is the downfall with many local businesses. And it is a shame. But their prices reflect that they are charging enough to pay staff what it takes to hire them. And they are not.

Both of them were quick to return calls and answer questions. During installation there was one tiny issue. The installer called the owner in front of us and we were told that it was no problem and the owner would get back to us. He never did. Over the past 2 months we have followed up with the office manager twice and left one message on the owners cell. Neither of them have returned a call or followed up with us. It's like we are dealing with a completely different company now. I have no faith that they would help or support us with a warranty issue and I regret choosing them.

Our Sitter was living there & aware of noon appt for Inspector. Our Realtor would be there 2Let in Inspector. We'd driven 1100 miles when our Sitter called 2Say "a Designer arrived 2Meet w/ you an hour early." Actually, her appt was w/ PROSPECTIVE owner. Woman & her partner, an older male, were an hour early. My sitter texted that she felt uncomfortable, especially w/ the man in the house when she was trying 2Get ready 2Leave for a few hours w/ our dogs during inspection. I immediately called & said these were NOT my contacts & they needed 2Wait outside until my broker arrived at appt time. I told our middle-twenties Sitter 2Have the woman call me & called our broker 2Say no one was allowed in house without her present & she agreed. While I was speaking w/ broker,GRAMER did call but I couldn't answer. I did use the phone# 2Attempt 2Reach her. She didn't answer. I identified myself as the Owner on message & explained that no one was allowed in my home until our agent was on premise & this was too great a responsibility for our Sitter who was trying 2Get ready 2Leave at 12. I called our Sitter who said Linda & the man whom she felt was "creepy" were taking measurements. I asked Sitter 2Put the woman on the phone as my call went to voicemail. I again said that she was early & could not be in our home without our broker & it was 2Much responsibility for the Sitter who thought she was doing her employers, us, a favor. I imagined that was the end of the exchange. After the appt ended, I received a call that Mrs. GRAMER was rude to our broker but the new prospective owner was embarrassed & apologized for GRAMER's early arrival & the inconvenience it caused our Sitter.Again I thought that was the end of the exchange until 4 days later I received a call during our trip. Apparently, GRAMER had forgotten my Texas Cell number was associated w/ message for her 2Leave my rural lake house for an hour until my broker & her client were on premise for appt. There are only 24 homes allowed in Conservancy near Ouray; stranger are not welcome to the private lake/creek acreage. Linda reached me 2Say I'd called her business # & ask what I wanted. I explained that she'd previously spoken 2Me on Monday when I asked her 2Leave until my broker arrived. Linda told me how "unaccommodating" & rude my broker was not to immediately come 2Allow her to remain inside an hour early & to further blame my Sitter for not telling her at 1st 2Wait elsewhere. I said no, it was not our Sitter's fault but rather hers for arriving an hour early. LINDA said she didn't know how long it would take over Million Dollar Hwy/Red Mountain Pass even in summer. That is understandable & I told Linda so but told her if I had been home, getting ready for leaving in 1 hour for Inspection, I would NOT have let her in. GRAMER without acknowledging her fault for arriving an hour early, again said how our agent was not nice for telling her to leave until 12. I mentioned that we are not her only clients & she was w/ clients on Log Hill Mesa 40 mins away until 12. Linda said our Sitter should've handled things differently & I again said "We are not putting this on her when you arrived early without Jeff your Client.". Linda was taking ZERO responsibility for her actions & complaining about people we appointed in Colorado in 2019 2Take care of our property/animals. My sister in law (in room) was aghast that someone who was not even our designer would argue w/ me about our employee/broker. My husband was worried that our place was about 2Be robbed when Sitter called + texted that the older man seemed "creepy". GRAMER caused us, our Sitter & our broker discomfort/inconvenience that she will not acknowledge much less apologize for. 3rd time GRAMER said IF Sitter had done things differently, incident could've been avoided, again w/ no admission that she arrived way early 2Gain access 2Our home, I finally told her that older man w/ her not only made our Sitter uncomfortable but seemed "creepy". INDIGNANTLY, GRAMER said that was her "husband & HE HAS A Phd!" I wasn't trying 2Hurt her feelings but GRAMER is clueless about even blunt critiques of her behavior & lack of diplomacy/verbal skills dealing w/ someone who COULD have hired her. We asked them to come and look and they sent the shades to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said that there was no sun bleaching despite it being completely obvious to anyone. I asked for new shades and or my money back to which Linda at Scrimshaws wouldn't do. Disappointing since we spent a good deal of money on these defective shades. I had been happy with Scrimshaw's in the past but I won't be doing business with them again.

The office is conveniently located in town with an actual person out front to assist you if you prefer to make payments in person. Extreme Negligence and an Absolutely Horrible Experience…read more If I could give AREM Property Management zero stars, I would. My experience with AREM was not simply a case of poor customer service or a maintenance request taking too long. I spent approximately eight months living in an apartment with serious mold and water-related problems that were not adequately addressed, while having nowhere else to go and no financial means to simply move out. My father and I were essentially stuck living in those conditions because we had no alternative. There were repeated problems with water intrusion and attempts at remediation, yet the underlying issues continued. At one point, the bathroom ceiling leaked again despite previous attempts to address the problem. I documented the conditions, communicated with management, and repeatedly tried to get the situation taken seriously. Instead of being able to simply leave an unsafe living environment, I had to continue paying rent and living there because I could not afford to relocate. Imagine knowing there are serious problems with the place you're living in, wanting desperately to get out, and realizing you literally have nowhere else to go. That is what this situation became. I spent significant amounts of my own money on testing, documentation, temporary solutions, and trying to establish evidence of what was happening. I spent countless hours communicating with management and trying to get the situation resolved. Eventually, I had to seek outside legal assistance just to get help dealing with the situation and obtaining a release from my lease without penalty. And even after everything that happened, I was left dealing with the financial consequences of having paid rent for approximately eight months while living in conditions I believe should never have been allowed to continue. This wasn't a minor maintenance issue. This wasn't a situation where I simply didn't like the way management handled a repair. My father and I were left living in poor conditions for months because we had no practical means of escaping the situation. A property management company has a fundamental responsibility to maintain safe, habitable housing and to respond appropriately when serious water and mold problems are reported. In my experience, AREM failed to meet that responsibility. I have documentation supporting my experience, including photographs, videos, communications, testing records, remediation documentation, and financial records. The most upsetting part is that this could have been handled differently. Problems can happen in any building. What matters is how management responds when those problems become serious. In my experience, AREM's response left my father and me dealing with the consequences for months. I would strongly advise prospective tenants to thoroughly research AREM and specifically ask how they handle serious mold, water intrusion, habitability issues, tenant displacement or inability to relocate, and reimbursement for rent paid during periods when a property cannot reasonably be considered habitable. One star is generous.

I am a local contractor, having done business in Durango for over 20 years. This year doing a…read morekitchen remodel, my client wanted a flooring product from Riteway Carpet and Tile. The day after installation, an area of the flooring that was getting direct sunlight through a bay window had swelled enough for the locking seams to come apart. I went to RF&C and explained the situation. They didn't have anyone available with the authority to check out the situation but said they would in a couple days. I waited, no one showed up, no phone calls, no response what so ever, so I removed the subject tile and replaced it with a ceramic tile. Problem solved. I asked for a refund on the material that didn't work. They had 2 suggestions, 1)glue down the flooring which was a floating floor and not to be glued down, or 2)put a curtain over the window to stop the sun from shining in. I did not consider these to be aceptable solutions. I spent a little over $800 on the flooring, after 3 mionths, was offered a little under $500 for it. Also claiming a restocking fee. They aren't going to restock this, or atleast they shouldn't. I was also told that the company that made the product did acknowledge problems in certain situations. In fairness to them, this was a new product that they were unfamiliar with so they were unaware of the potential problem, but I felt that once they were aware of it, they should have refunded the money money spent, and learned from the application. I wasn't asking for anything for my wasted labor installing the tile, or removing it, or my several trips to the store to get the problem resolved. I would never do business here again, and am sure I would be unwelcome if i were to return. I would recommend to anyone to look elsewhere for there flooring products. I have been in this business for nearly 40 years and have never had a reputable business treat me like this.
