Came here for the first time on 6/10/26. We were on a trip to Durango and wanted to take the kids swimming. This pool is huge! We were only in the kid area and the lazy river but still great. It had been years since we've been here and it still doesn't disappoint like 7 years later! $7.50 adult day admission, $6.50 for kids. Just $20 for an all day pass and access to classes, rock walk, indoor water park with slides and lap pools, splash pad outside... really great facility. We brought our own towels because it's a $1 rental and we had some in our car (a summer staple!). Best part was no sunscreen! Coming from Arizona and staying at Purgatory for the week to enjoy cooler weather, the no sunscreen part is pretty exciting. My kids rave about this place (now 11 and 13 years old). The rock wall is no joke, either! Unlimited access during open hours (special hours for rock wall, but generally closed after 4pm). Kayaks in the pool at 6pm on Wednesdays for a $5 rental? What is the Colorado? Super cool way to learn! read more

Took my grandchildren here today and I was really impressed. When you walk in the door the staff is helpful and friendly. The building is clean and smells clean. They have family locker rooms, women's locker rooms and men's locker rooms (they were clean as well). They have lockers available and lock rental should you need one, they are combination locks and if you have issues with them the staff is very helpful. A key thing to note is the life guard staff was attentive and great with the kids (you can never be too cautious around water). There are ample chairs and benches to place your towels and shoes in the pool area. The water was such a pleasant temperature (I expected it to be ice cold), they have a lazy River, a large multi loop slide, a diving area, swim lanes and a very large kids play area. I noticed there was a game room, a rock climbing wall a gym and I am not sure what else I missed. This is a family friendly, affordable option for fun when in Durango. I liked it so much I'm going to buy a season pass. read more

Another tourist at our condo told us about this as we were trying to tough through the ice cold pool at the complex. We decided to take the kids and we are glad we did. $25 for the 4 of us all day. We swam for a good 2-3 hours, left and ate lunch, did some sightseeing and were able to come back and swim more. My youngest daughter got to do rock climbing and I was able to workout upstairs with my older daughter. The pool is very kid friendly and the slide was fun for all. The lazy river is a bit small but comfy. There is a high diving board and a low one as well. Outside is a splash pad but the wind and water was a bit chilly so we stayed inside. The lap pool and diving pool water was very cold, but we went back and forth between the warm and cold pools so no big deal there. A definite must for anyone in town that wants to have a cheap place to spend the day with the kids. read more

We only used the pool area but that alone was worth it. First I love that they have family changing rooms. Having my husband be able to help my toddler was great but also my mom being able to help my dad who has disabilities was much easier in the family changing space. We were really surprised by how much there was in the pool area. There is a lazy river, lots of water play objects that spray and can be climbed on. A couple of little kid sized slides. One big slide that goes a couple stories. There is a separate pool for lap swimming (and kayaking) and they have a rope swing. There is also an outdoor splash pad. There were multiple life guards that always seemed attentive. Several times I watched them caution kids on pool safety. Will definitely go back every time we are visiting family. read more

Great place for the grandkids to play in the pools and let off steam! All very helpful people there

The boys and girls club came in and took over the place. Extremely obnoxious and total disregard of the little kids around. My daughter kept getting knocked around and my autistic grandson had his head held under water by one of the kids from the boys and girls club. They trampled through everyone not caring about anyone but themselves. I had come with my family for 15 years or close to it and I was disgusted and we left because I worried about my autistic grandson . They kept knowing into him pushing water in his face . Also I'm 60 years old and was in street clothes to watch my grandkids and daughter swim and I had to pay full price to sit there. I was appalled to say the least. I don't swim at all and had to pay as a swimmer. Ended us ever going back. 15 years and not again. I shouldn't have to pay to sit in a chair and my family should feel safe swimming read more

Great pools with lazy river, diving boards, rope swing, slides, big hot tub. Lots of kiddos and parents there too. Sandy at the front desk was very helpful with questions. Very welcoming atmosphere. If we lived here, we would be regulars! read more

5 stars for kids and all but 4 only because the gym was so humid and hot from the pool under it. Made it hard to workout. A couple of stationary fans might help. Front desk was awesome and free pong pong :) read more

As a longterm resident of our lovely town, the rec center reamins one of my favorite places here in Durango. I've travelled all over this country and I have found very few rec centers of this calibre, and certainly none in a town of our size. Many much larger cities don't even come close to our level of service and quality of the facilities. Frankly, it's better than most expensive gyms that require membership. How many other gyms or rec centers: have a 30-person hot tub; a large heated pool for kids with a huge indoor waterslide; a large lap pool with both 1 and 3 meter diving boards; a heated physiotherapy walking pool with inner whirlpool; an indoor climbing wall; a big weight room and treadmill area; two full b-ball courts; private showers; a free pool table; a big-screen tv for the kids; lots of meeting rooms that are cheap or free; are on a river with a wonderful running/biking trails that go for miles? None that I have ever found! Blessings and thanks to all the staff and those who helped create this stellar rec center. Five bucks is a fair deal still, even though those prices keep going up. Maybe if we get off our butts and sue the rip-off solar firm Novan, from Golden, we can actually start using all those panels istting on the roof. City employees Ron LeBlanc and Cathy Metz are both guilty of letting this charade go on far too long...what's your excuse, guys? This is your job: do it right! The contract was signed 18 months ago. Wake up and get the deal you signed for, on behalf of the taxpayers who pay your salaries! But aside from that snafu, I have zero complaints about the center. The employees are friendly and the place is always clean. We're lucky to live in Durango, and we're lucky to have this place to enjoy. read more

I am so pleased to live in a town that has a place to work out at reasonable cost. This is new for me. The center is amazing - a pool with lots of kids, another olympic size pool, gym, walking, and a great weight room - and their video shows so many activities for all ages. Its wonderful to be using the stair stepper and looking out at the mountains. I am older so it took me awhile to get back into exercising, but I've always felt comfortable here. Nice people and great staff. I'm even making new friends. read more
