The waves were high and mighty... or something like that. This was my first time white water rafting and a time that I hadn't been to Durango in several years and wanted to try something new (and in honor of my dance teacher who recently died in a white water rafting accident). I got a 10% discount for booking in person off their Main Street location. They answered any question I had there (and yes, there are several EMT's on staff). I was slightly nervous by the time we got to the river, but those fears were quickly allayed. Along with the 16 others as part of a family reunion our guide, Charlie, was knowledgeable of facts about the river and seemed good at what he does. There were times where the waves were two or three times the height of our raft, and others where it was a gentle stroll on the river with no paddling necessary. Yes, you will get wet (but luckily I had brought frog toggs with me- an Alaska rainsuit set. A perfect alternative to a wetsuit, otherwise an extra $10-15 for rental). By the end, I was disappointed that it was already over, even after spending 1 hour 40 minutes + on the river. Something for the bucket list for sure

First time river rafter here, will definitely do it again! Great guide! What fun! Only wish was that the Animas River was higher, so plan adventure early spring vs July for even more white water.

    Wet fun in the sun!

Erick was a great guide. Not only did he keep up from falling out but he was very informative. Such a great day on the river - would choose this company again!!!

We had a great ride down the river today with this group. Easy parking downtown, they've got booties to rent cheap if you need them, a bus pickup and drop off, etc. Friendly people, safety minded. We had four young kids in the raft and they all had a great time (even getting some cold river water in the face). There are lots of adventure groups out there, we found these folks to be professional and helpful-- we would choose them again. Really enjoyed our Animas river raft tour!

Best options for 4-wheel adventure. We took the 5-hour 4-seater and used all of them exploring Bolan Pass and more.

Jeep tour was unique experience. Very informative guide. The only downside was they could have wiped the dust off the seats before the ride.

We paddled through sun, rain, and hail, all in one trip! Epic, I tell u!! Our guides, Marcus and Robby were the best! Super cool dudes who were super knowledgeable! They kept us safe and made the experience such a blast! Colorado had the lowest snowfall this past winter so the river was really low and rapids were on the slow side. Make sure to check river flow and CSF levels if u decide to book this adventure so that u're not surprised by the low flow. The river only clocked in at 620 cfs when we ran it, so we didn't have too many big rapids and drops, but it was a very technical run and such a blast to experience this ultimate and wild experience with my hubby!!

Our group had the time of our lives floating down the Animas riv with our elite guide Kaia, who was…read morein charge of the whole trip. Kaia was knowledgeable, organized, accommodating, and could have shepherded us down the route completely by herself if necessary. River guiding is clearly in her blood and the generations of river guides in her family must be proud. She is equal parts expert guide and fun banterer. If you're 8 or 80 or somewhere in between like us, you'll appreciate how Kaia gets down. No disrespect to any other river guides, but if Kaia doesn't win MVP of the week, they got to scrap this system and build back from the bottom up. On the other hand, there was one guide reportedly named ZB that was a complete vibe killer. If that guy wins, they also need to revamp this whole operation. Hope he enjoys a nice Dante's Inferno from Barber and the Bookcase and rethinks his approach to River guideship.

I have mixed feelings about this company as a Shuttle/A1 Taxi service. While my drivers were…read morefriendly and efficient, the fare was VERY expensive for what it is. For myself and partner to get a pick up from DUR airport to Pagosa Springs, it was $135-one way. We booked it weeks in advance in anticipation of Ubers being scarce. I knew it would be pricey but this seemed like the reliable option. The unfortunate part was two days before our flight into CO, Wilderness Journeys called to let us know there would be a surprise added fee of $15+ (each way) to get to where we were staying. I'm not sure why because it was a Pagosa Springs address--about 5 miles (6min drive) from town center, so I'm guessing they prefer to only drop off at the main hotels, though that wasn't mentioned when I booked the service. This increased our fare to $150 each way. If Wilderness Journeys has other passengers potentially going to the airport at the same time and you're willing to be picked up "up to 45min later," they offer to give you 20% off your fare. I opted for that to save some dough. Unfortunately the day before our trip to the airport, they told us we would have to be picked up earlier (not later) because they were picking up 3 more people. This meant we got to the airport much, much earlier than requested/planned. Another upsetting part is they only gave the 20% discount for part of our trip, not our full fare. It offset part of the hidden fee, I guess--but I still ended up paying nearly $300 for the RT shuttle service for 2. :( * Tip: Ubers from Durango to Pagosa are less than half the price and readily available, per the locals. In hindsight, I recommend ubering from Durango to Pagosa. I'd use that money saved I saved to booked the shuttle due to availability on the way from Pagosa to Durango, as it appears to be harder to reliably get an uber from PS to DUR. I would also not opt to save the $20 to share the shuttle.

We did a return trip back to Pagosa and the airport a week later. The booking process was pretty easy and the drivers were on time and got us to and from our destinations safely. Given the length of the drive and the fact that we were going on very rough Forest Service roads for a portion of the drive, the cost seemed reasonable (especially for 4 or more people) and I was thankful to have this option. Thanks Wilderness Journeys!
