I had a very frustrating experience. I paid $1,300 for a kayak three weeks before picking it up. I called several times leading up to my 10-hour trip to ensure the kayak would be ready, but when I arrived, it was not. The kayak was still hanging from the ceiling and covered in layers of filth. I decided to get over this and drove home. Within two days, I realized the oar attachment was missing. I called and was assured by Adam that it would be sent out that day. A week later, I called again and found out it was never sent. Now, I have an upcoming trip and still don't have the attachment that should have been included from the start. This company has done a terrible job supporting a customer, especially one who had to drive several hours to pick up the kayak and made follow-up calls to ensure everything would be ready. Planned visit with friends who live here so they booked a river raft tour. I've done these in the past but in Idaho. We had a beginner style tour and with a lack of rain the river was low and running 500cfs. We got there at opening signed some waivers got fitted for life vests and a safety speech.. Boarded a bus for a 10min ride to the Put in spot.. We had a great trip, the guide moved us around to set up the small Rapids for some splash. Told us about the local area, things to do and more. Had a snack at a break spot of cheese, salami, apples, oranges and peanut butter.. Back on the raft for almost an hour to the take out spot.. The rapids were weak which we knew but Jonathan our guide kept us having fun, informed and entertained.. A+ trip would do it again!! What makes this trips is the river and staff! 4C Riversports is a great shop to buy / rent water sport equipment. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We walked in while visiting Durango and wanted to rent a raft to head down the Animas. They were great at talking through the positives and negatives of different rafts/kayaks. They even helped us figure out the best place to put in and take out of the Animas. For folks that want to get used to kayaking safety (i.e. rolls) in a more mellow spot than river rapids, they have a pool out back and will let you practice righting your canoe while underwater. read more

I had signed up for a two day advanced kayak clinic with 4CRS about 6 weeks in advance for $440. A couple of days before the clinic, I was informed the clinic was cancelled due to another group bailing. I had already been in the area for the week and had packed my camping and kayaking gear so I was pretty bummed about the change in plans. I didn't want to squander the opportunity of being in the area (and having access to the Animas) so I booked a private tour on the Upper Animas for $350. Drew and Matt were both very accommodating and very knowledgeable. The water levels ended up being a little low so the rapids were not as challenging as I was expecting but were still good. I got a long, great day of paddling. I was hesitant to drop so much money on the trip but I really enjoyed the Animas and 4CRS was a big part of it. If you're kayaking and new to the area, you need to stop by the shop. And at the same time, you can run the Smelter whitewater park across from the shop. read more

Our party of two adults and two teen/tween boys took the Lower Animas 4-Hour (1/2 Day) Trip and had a great time. At least a good part of the rating is due to how well the river was flowing in mid-June and the excellent new Class III rapids in the whitewater park as you raft through Durango, but we wouldn't have had a successful run through those rapids if it hadn't been for our excellent guide, who got us prepared and paddling in unison. We pulled hard through the rapids, and though we took on the gnarliest route, came through upright. It was a fun, wild ride! I also really like that the 4-hour trip includes a stop midway for snacks. The outfitters provide chips and salsa, cheese, salami and crackers, fruit and peanut butter, lemonade and iced tea. It was the perfect snack for re-engergizing mid-trip, and gave us the chance to visit and get friendly with the folks in the other raft. 4 corners has a staffer take pictures of you from the bank as you take on the toughest stretch of the river, so you will have the opportunity to buy a DVD with some great action photos at the end of your trip if you like. Even if you don't buy, you'll enjoy watching the slideshow at the end of your trip. read more

We have always stopped in to support them especially since they give us a guide discount and they have always been so helpful and nice when we inquired about gear or river beta, so We were disappointed when we were charged $60 full price for a boat we returned two hours later that also came with a broken pump. We shopped around and found cheaper rentals which is where we will be doing our rental business from now on. Too bad. read more

We took a mellow family rafting trip down the Animas through town with 4 Corners. We had a great time. Quality equipment and fantastic guides. I decided after our family float to sign up for an overnight trip on the Upper Animas later in the week. That portion of the river is pretty intense so it was just me this time, no family. These trips have a different vibe: the Upper Animas is serious whitewater and there is a physical fitness requirement for good reason. My Upper Animas trip was quite challenging and a humbling experience but I had a great time. The guides really stood out: the folks that 4 Corners sends to the Upper river are the very best. Super experienced folks who know how to lead when things get tough (and they will up there). I'm grateful for their professionalism, which got our crew down the river safely. A great experience for all ages. There were 9 rafts on our adventure today and everyone had smiling faces after the 1/2 day float. The Animas was sporting class 2+ rapids & the crews here helped navigate them flawlessly. There were passengers ranging from 4 to 70+ years old. Highly recommend this company. read more

The family fun 1/2 day rafting down the lower Animas was more than enough for this aging dad and his adult son. We were on the river on 7/3 and the water was quite refreshing. Our guide Annie was the best floating us safely down the river providing more than enough adventure. Loved the humor. My only "complaint" is that someone forgot to buy the USB with all of the photos as we went through the rapids. I'll have to check back in with them after the holidays to see if it's too late. read more

I took an adult level 1 ww kayak class. We got a very in depth intro that included classroom time, roll practice in the pool, and lots of time on the river. We had an awesome rafting experience. My husband and I took our kids ages 7 & 11 rafting for the first time. They were a little nervous, so they only wanted to do the 1 hr trip.
