OK, just OK. Friendly baristas, fast service. My Mexican Mocha could have used more kick, not enough heat nor chocolate flavor. One of my companions had a green tea latte, and it was so green it could have glowed in the dark. Too much food coloring. Spacious interior with lots of room for chatting with friends. Not a bad place to stop for coffee, but didn't taste anything special.

A nitro brew in a slow Saturday afternoon. Such a friendly place.

Love stopping here to grab a coffee on the way up to the college. Great friendly people and good coffee. I had the huge sugar cookie.

441 College Dr has a friendly staff, great coffees, and good quality bakery... (although somewhat sparse selection), along with pre-made salads and sandwiches. Indoor seating with 5-6 outdoor tables option. Worth a visit while in Durango Co.

I loved this place! Barista was very friendly and her recommendation was sooooo good. I had the honey bear with almond milk

Very pleased with my experience here. Needing a coffee fix, as my wife and I are staying here on vacation, we decided to give this place a shot. The employees were friendly, and our drinks (iced white chocolate mocha, and a frozen mocha) were delicious. In my opinion, flavored drinks made with powders instead of syrups are substantially better...and these were indeed better than your average mochas. Atmosphere was relaxing as well. Well done Durango Joes, well done. read more

I've been buying coffee here for years, since they first opened. Today the line was about 15 people long so I sat down to use the wifi while I waited for the line to shorten. When I asked barista for the wifi password his response was "ARE YOU GOING TO BUY SOMETHING?"!!!! Maybe too much fake kindness(pretending to be genuinely interested in how every customer feels) has replaced actual customer service not to mention respect. I'm writing this at Starbucks. read more

We were here for a family vacation and the coffee at our hotel was one step above dirty water. We drove by this place a couple of times and decided we had to try it out. This place has excellent service and coffee. I bought a bag of coffee and was able to get one of my drinks free because of their Friday deal. Very friendly gals behind the counter. read more

Went looking for an appropriate gift for my daughter's boyfriend who enjoys coffee which he buys from a NoCal coffee roaster. On vacation in Durango--WOW--Durango Joe's roaster has received the coffee roaster of the year award. While it is a chain, it still has a wonderful small coffee house feel. Baristas that know and understand coffee--and are happy to give you their opinion on the coffee beans they are selling. Tried their Red Mountain and cappucino---Great stuff!!! The coffee house is near Fort Lewis College--has tables and sofas with free wifi. But also an table area of multiple computers for (I guess) use by patrons. This could never happen where I live---Coloradians must be trustworthy types. read more

Good chai, but burnt coffee. Love the college way shop, but it's not third wave. It's better than Starbucks, but not as good as any coffee shops in Portland for example. This place was great! I was in town staying with some local friends and we decided to grab some coffee while running errands. I recommend trying the Honeybear latte (iced). Joe's Grandfather, Durango's own Doctor Leo Lloyd served the Durango community for over 40 years in family medicine, beloved for his day and night dedication to home bedside care, he set the family's "community first" mission in the early 1900s. It is known said through-out the area "Avoid the Lloyd" in an effort to express "Don't get yourself in such a bind that Leo Lloyd is going to have to rescue you!" It actually reminded me of a cafe I used to frequent in college. They make all their baked goods in house, it's tough to choose! You order at the counter and the line was long on a Saturday morning. They have a handwritten chalkboard menu behind the counter, but if you can't see it in line they have paper menus to grab at the register. The tough decisions arise when you get close to the pastry case. It's filled with delicious quiches, buns, and morning staples. I was intrigued by the quiches and they had a huge selection of them. I landed on the green chile and bacon (I think it was bacon?!) When I went to order I was hit with a question I wasn't prepared for. They asked me if I wanted it on a regular pie crust or a hashbrown crust. FTW?! I had never heard of such a thing. They said if I like potatoes then get the hashbrown crust...I'm so glad I trusted their recommendation! They indeed bake hashbrowns into the quiche and it acts as the crust. I don't know which crazy genius concocted this sorcery, but holy moly I love the ingenuity! I don't eat quiche that much and this one stood out. I'd definitely suggest the quiches to other people! When we went into the restaurant, we ordered a BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato), biscuits and gravy and a scramble. Everyone was happy with their choices! Good portions and tasty food. Then I sat there for another 10 minutes and nobody even came back to take my food order, so I finally got up and left. The service was incredibly inattentive and the staff seemed like they couldn't care less. I initially put my name on the waitlist with one of the employees, and when I came back in later to check where I was on the list, the same person didn't even seem to know who I was or remember putting my name down. There only appeared to be a couple people working, and the entire experience felt disorganized from beginning to end. I was really looking forward to having breakfast here based on the reviews, but after 45+ minutes between waiting and sitting at the table without even getting to place a food order, I'd had enough. Warm water was just the icing on the cake. Extremely disappointing experience. I walked out and will not be back.
