Very good classic bar with a comfortable atmosphere and kind waitstaff. I had a cheeseburger and it was great, I kind of wish a 6oz option existed on their menu because 4 is too little and 8 is too much. We were in town for work and ride around trying to pick out a place to eat. We were looking for a steak and this place did not disappoint. Service was great and food was amazing! We had steamed shrimp and onion petals for appetizer. The my husband had the ribeye and I had the prime rib. Both were delicious. What a fun place to eat and drink! It is reminiscent of a Nashville bar, and their website indicates they have karaoke on Wednesday nights. I have no doubt that must be a blast. The food is good, but not great. My husband and guest had the French Dip which they liked. I had the fried shrimp and pork chops. The shrimp were excellent and the batter was good. The fried chops would have been better without the batter. The mashed potatoes were good and the corn was OK. The chili was very good. The sweet potato was excellent. My husband and I were actually on our way to a pizza shop last weekend, that we have yet to try, when we decided instead to go to Durango Grill. I'd read somewhere that they were very good, so we got sidetracked and ended up here. Meh...maybe we should have went with the pizza. Pulling up, the parking lot is not that attractive. But let's not hold that against them. After all, we shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I generally love little hole in the walls; and especially have a soft spot for sports bar. I wouldn't say this is a 'sports bar'. There are a couple of TVs, but I would just say this is a bar; a small bar at that. Nothing fancy and that's okay. If the food and service would have rocked my boots, I'd have definitely visited again and again, but unfortunately, I was left with something to be desired. Let's not say bad; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. My main issue was the slow service. I mean, we sat and sat before anyone acknowledged us. It was like they had lead in their boots. After that, food wasn't terribly long coming out. The waitress/bartender did come over once (and I mean literally once) to check on us. Okay, we were good overall. My husband could have used a refill sometime after that, but it is what it is. I had gotten a water with lemon and he ordered an unsweetened iced tea. For our appetizer, we went with the mozzarella cheese sticks. They weren't even in my top 10 best cheese sticks. They were okay at best. We happened to be there for 1/2 price appetizers, so that was cool. For our entree, we got the bacon cheddar burger with fries. The fries were excellent. I wish I could say the same with the burger. I probably would have loved it more if it didn't have a fish aftertaste. I'm not sure why I kept tasting fish (if it were the bun or the burger), but there was a fishy taste to my burger...something fishy was going on. The place is not child appropriate (not even in the middle of the afternoon). I heard some really vulgar language during our dine in experience that made both my husband and I chuckle. We're grown; we can handle it. But I certainly wouldn't want my stepdaughter or grandkids in there to hear some of the things that were coming out of those old guys mouths. Prices were excellent! A real value for the amount of food that you get; I must say that! The sign on the door was a little disturbing. My bottom line? Food was decent; not great. Prices are excellent. Atmosphere is lacking. If you love the hole in the wall bar, this place is for you. We may return, but likely not. Just not our scene. read more

Arrived 7:17 6 minutes before my drink order was taken and that is only because the guy was clearing a table nearby. The people there were clearly looking for a server who returned with there credit card who apologized for getting tied up. It's a bar but no drink prices in the menu not even soft drinks. A lady appeared with my Sprite and a menu after just a couple minutes. 7:34 Left $4 on table and walked out. There are only two parties at tables the bar was pretty full. I couldn't see you about the other side of the bar with a pool table. It appeared several people were getting food to take home. So it appears this place mainly is just focused on the folks at the bar those popping in for takeout They don't seem to have the staff to take care of table service. Been coming here on Wednesday nights for Karaoke from 8:30pm to 11:30pm.Everyone supports all the singers no matter what they sing or how they sound. The feeling is, if you are brave enough to get up there to sing, you deserve an applause. The food and drinks are reasonable. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you're trying to remember a drink. There is an outdoor patio for those who need to smoke. Plenty of free parking. Come by and try your hand at sounding a tune. Good fun good food and good people. read more

This place is a hidden hidden treasure. It looks fairly unassuming and is located in one of the less than fancy plazas off of Plank Road. But man oh man - the food is good! There's a game area and lots of military memorabilia (USMC). The place has a home-like feel. The downside of that is that the patrons tend to stare at new folks. Seemed to be a local hangout on a Friday night. Bar patrons all seemed to be having a good time during happy hour. My wife and I decided to give the Durango Grill a try after five hours of driving from PA. Took a little while to get a waitress but could see they may have been short staffed. When our food came out, it was just what we needed, a hot meal with very good taste and presentation. Our check was brought to us by another young man, who we thought was one of the owners, and he was very pleasant. Headed out for a three couple date night. With some dinner and bowling. Wanted to try a not chain restaurant. This place was close to the bowling alley. Chris our waiter was great ! Wrote all our orders down and was able to get a bucket of beer. Only problem was , Chris was not our waiter. He was apart of our party. After walking in and not being greeted by anyone. We ended up seating ourselves. We sat there for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from any wait staff. The staff were more focused on serving the people at the bar. So we ended up approaching a waitress, who was very kind. Ordered all our food which came out quickly. The food was not bad at all. Due to time restrictions we only ordered appetizers. Me and my husband come to the Fredericksburg area quite often. We're always looking for good local places to eat when we travel. This place did not disappoint. We ordered carry out. The staff was friendly and welcoming. My husband ordered the chili cheese burger with onion rings and I ordered the sirloin salad and a side a the steak fries with ranch dressing (I'm a sucker for a Pittsburgh salad). I read the reviews and I suppose someone has to inform the people in Fredericksburg, VA that this place has closed due to the fact a vehicle drove right into the front door about a few weeks ago. It was a neighborhood bar, people. Where everyone knew your name. It was not a Mexican place due to the name "Durango" Mexican? So, it was sad to see it go. This area does not have the neighborhood bars as we had back in the day. Everyone wants the T V turned down, the drunks gone, and their kids need to be fed really good food, then this was the place. Please don't arrive to our redneck of the woods and critique our neighborhood bars, that still allow us to have a good time on occasion. I had the steak, baked potato, and salad with the knowledge I was alone at a bar and not one person harassed me in the least. If you go in knowing it's actually a very casual and cozy place. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp for an appetizer, they were cooked and seasoned perfectly served with butter and cocktail sauce! I had the Rocky Mountain chicken and my fiancé had the fried chicken steak. Portion size was great and everything was hot and delicious. Just got food to go to celebrate New Years Eve at home. Got a burger and prime rib dinner and both were really good! Lovely neighborhood joint with a nice bar crowd for New Years Eve. The Caesar salad was crisp with the good croutons and dressing was nice too. Got the apple/cherry cobbler and it came with ice cream too! that was a nice surprise when we opened up our to-go meal. Got a nice fruity drink the bartender suggested, 3 liquors, juice and coconut stuff it in. It was awesome! So please ask the chick behind the bar what that drink is... I think it was called the relaxer. hahaha. great name, right? oh yes, and my prime rib came with au jus and horseradish sauce, a really nice touch. Not sure if there is more than one location but I at Fredericksburg location. There are 2 long bars, one on each side of the establishment. Small, nice crowd, good music and I noticed a pool table on the other side. People were eating and drinking outside too. Will definitely go back again.
