We went here one Wednesday afternoon. Just a heads up-they have certain times they do the wine tastings. I'm not quite sure when; however, luckily, we arrived at 12:50, and the next one was at 1:15pm. During our wait time, we were able to enjoy the gift shop, and view the recent expansions of the new tasting rooms. The lady who checked us in ended up doing our wine tasting, and she was a hoot! She was such a sweet older lady, and she had such fun stories to tell! We did the $5 tasting, which included several wines, just no cheese samples. I liked the progression of wines. I'm not a huge fan of Duplin's super sweet, popular muscadine wines, and I was very happy that we tried lots of their drier wines as well. There was even a sample of the frozen drinks. After we completed the wine tasting, we ate lunch at the bistro next door. The food was good, but nothing special. I'm very glad we got to try this vineyard. It had been on my list for a while! read more

Am rating the winery not the wine. I am beer drinker, so do not want to say anything about the wine except that it was tasty to me. On the other hand the winery is small town southern with friendly staff, good value. Did the deluxe wine tasting with sips of 10 different wines. Good crackers and cheese dip to go with, then topped off with glass of favorite from the tasting. Able to sit out on porch and enjoy the afternoon. Can't wait to go back. read more

This place is great! Wonderful staff, delicious wine, and very detailed tour. Dave Jr., one of the owners, was on site working hard and took the time to introduce himself and tell us a little bit of his story. Jennifer was our tour guide. She was very informative and fun! I highly recommend this vineyard and winery over others in the Wilmington/Eastern NC Area. read more

Duplin Winery - Wineries Near Me - Rose Hill, North Carolina

Duplin has the best of everything. Good wine and tastings. Great food in the bistro. Wonderful employees. Great club benefits. Thank you to the great staff. read more

Duplin Winery isn't your typical winery tour that you would expect. Their base is a tasting and retail store, you can also do a tour of where they make the wine as well, which is a short drive down the road. The tour is really cool, you get to see all the machines where they make the wine, as well as how they bottle them as well. The retail store has all of their wines you could possibly want, including many that are not available at the grocery stores. They have their tasting area, then in the room next door they have a shop, and area where you can purchase a glass of wine and enjoy it while you shop, or chill. A fun experience to fans of wine! read more

Last weekends get aways. It was a little more busy then I expected. All three tasting bars were full. But once we got to the tastings we understood why. Very good wine . Resturant closes at 3. Don't go hungry after 3. Nothing else around to eat. We will be back tho ;) read more

If you are ever in North Carolina and want to do some wine tasting; try the Duplin Winery. We definitely give it a thumbs up!

If you like duplin wine, I highly recommend going! They have a sampling where you try a wide variety of their wines and a frozen wine treat at the end. You also get a wine glass at the end of the sampling all for $5. read more

Always my favorite wine. We can't get this in PA due to the goofy state laws so we always stock up when we come down here. read more

Excellent info during wine tasting. Largest gift shop of any winery I've been to. Very organized. Nice bistro too!

My husband and I along with my best friend and her husband had a fantastic time at Dupin Winery in Rose Hill!! Everything was fantastic, we got the tour, did a tasting, ate at the bistro and shopped and we couldn't have had a better time! The staff is fabulous, I wish I could remember all their names of those that helped us. I do remember Ronnie that took us on the tour and did our wine tasting, he was so much fun!! Thank you all for helping us have a much needed getaway for a great weekend away from the kids!! And the wine is excellent! My favorite, Black River Red, delicious!! read more

I recommend the wine tasting and the staff is excellent, the bistro was a total disaster. We had an under age inexperience waitress who made a bad decision not serving us any wine even though I was ordering water. My other guest had only enjoyed the wine tasting in the complimentary wine before we entered the Bistro. Manager was unprofessional with no diplomacy skills. Wont got back after waiting two years to attend! read more

We LOVE this place! We have never come in here that our mood wasn't changed for the better even before we have a glass of wine. There are so many varieties to choose from. My husbands favorite is Carolina Red. I prefer the Estate wines, my favorite being a tie between Queen Ann's Revenge and Midnight Magnolia. There are many others that depending on my mood can become a temporary favorite. Getting to know the staff and owners has been a true pleasure. When we just need a small get away from our routine it makes for an enjoyable time. We have introduced many of our friends to this winery with no regrets. They have a tasty Bistro open daily for lunch and sometimes for dinner. It may not be for everyone but if you think life should be Cool, Sweet and Easy this is the place for you! We know it is for us! read more

The Duplin Winery really deserves 10 stars. Yeah. They are THAT good. We were sucked in by their billboard advertising coming back from the beach one day. After some back and forth discussion on whether it was worth it to go off the beaten path, indeed, we were delighted. They offer free tastings (FREE!!!!) every day except Sunday, I believe. They also boast a restaurant--we weren't that hungry, but I think we would check it out if we had been. EVERYONE who works there appears to be very knowledgeable about the product. Thank you! Love the history behind each wine. I am confused about Carrie S's and Ana V's reviews--I am SO not a fan of sweet wine--hate the stuff, actually, but found that Duplin had a wide, wide variety of offerings there AREN'T AT ALL sweet. Uh...did you mention to the host/hostess that you didn't like sweet? We left with one case (or maybe it was two?) in tow. Yeah, we joined the heritage club and enjoyed that immensely until the economy took a dive. Now it's a favorite stop of ours--and I love that they are always coming up with something new or different. read more

They have THE best wines anywhere! That is why I am a Heritage Member which carries great discounts and events. Their red wines are my favorite - EASY - SUNSET RED - SANGRIA RED - SWEET SOX RED. Their jolly juice mixes make excellent summer drinks! read more

So I fell in love with the Outer Banks years ago. So I would love to be able to visit Hatteras Island whenever I pleased. But alas I live in Rhode Island. So Duplin quells the longing a bit. We have ordered for Thanksgiving and Christmas before and I just placed an order for the coming holidays. Yes the Christmas wine is sweet and wonderful. And no it isn't from California or France or any of those other places that just wish they could be what eastern NC IS! So eat your heart out gourmet wine folks. I'll drink a toast to you when my holiday bottled arrives! read more

We loved this place!! What an amazing place! Muscadine wine is delicious --- and we can not wait to get some more. I also loved my grape, jalapeno and pineapple cheese dip. I bought a jar. We bought like 25 bottles of wine and took them on the plane with us! Great place! Loved my wine tasting and can not wait to go back next year! read more

Free tasting and free winery tour. Definitely a must-see stop if you're in the area. The tasting includes 12 (yes, 12!) 1-oz sips of wine, the equivalent of one big glass of wine AND ITS FREE. the staff is also really friendly and helpful, and our winery tour guide was really knowledgable. I think I learned more on this tour than I have at wineries where I paid for a tour. Also try their fudge. It was yummy, and they have some that they've made with their wine. read more

I had and amazing time. My husband and I did the wine tasting. We paid $20 dollars for both of us. We tasted 10 different wines each. They also gave crackers and cheese made in house. It also included a glass of wine of your choice. The service was delightful and knowledgable. Also, you must try the fudge!!! :) read more

I tried many wineries. This is too commercialized. When you taste Muscadine Grapes. It has a taste of its own. I can't taste it in their wine. Plus tjey carry it in so many stores in NC. I am not pleased with it. If i want to pay 12.00 for this i can go to Aldi for 2.50 for the same taste. read more

One of my favorite places to go!!! WONDERFUL staff and super clean environment! The wine is mostly sweet but I love it that way. :)

Free tastings, knowledgable and friendly staff, military discounts, awesome resturant. What else could you want a winery experience to be?

We had a great time taking the tour and tasting. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Best decently priced wine I've had in a long time. read more

I visited Duplin Winery while visiting my son and daughter-in-law. It was the first wine tasting we'd ever been to. What a treat! I am very picky when it comes to wine and I liked every one of the 13 samples they gave us! Unfortunately, I live in California and Duplin wine isn't sold here. However none of my previous favorites even compare to Duplin wines so I have it shipped to me. The price of the wines are so extremely low that the high shipping cost is worth it. I have been spoiled and can't drink any wine other than Duplin! read more

Great tour and great tasting. Very informative during the tasting and gives a military discount on all purchases in their gift shop.

My family and I attended the wine tasting event. I arrived about 30 minutes after my family, and when I went to pay for the wine tasting, I was "greeted" with curtness that was subtle but very present. It was the staff in the gift shop area. It was quite strange to me because the white patrons who were in front of me and behind me received a polar opposite greeting with warmth and professionalism. However, I received the cold, why are you here type of interaction. I'm not sure if it was because I looked young, even though they saw my license and saw that I am 30, or if it was because I was black. My family was finishing up their session of wine tasting, and I waited for my session to start. Next thing I know the woman is yelling my last name in front of everyone, again with curtness to the point that everyone stopped, got quiet, and looked at me. You know how a student feels when they are being called out to the office? That's how I felt. Patronized and minimized, it was just ugly. I felt it. I hated it. We were the only black family at the wine tasting, and we felt every bit of it. I think Duplin Winery staff should maybe do a professionalism training. However, my experience in the Bistro was better. The waitress was very nice and welcoming. Maybe that waitress could give some tips to the staff in the gift shop area. read more

Absolutely a fantastic experience. I had the privilege of attending a free private tour and private tasting of 14 different wines with my wife and we were both pleased. The tour was very educational, humble, and professional. A true American dream come true. It is inspiring really. The wine tasting was also great. As I said we were able to taste 14 different wines and ended up buying 12 bottles. I recommend Midnight Magnolia, the Mothervine, and blackberry wine. Raspberry champagne was also amazing. The workers are so polite and make you feel like family. We recommend everyone to try out the largest winery on the east coast and we know you will love it. We plan to go back again this summer. read more

Fun stop on the way to the beach! Muscadines are sweet grapes so know that going into it. The shop has a lot of nice wine-related products. The staff conducting the tastings are very nice and knowledgeable. My only hang up with the winery is the wait for tastings. I understand having sign-ups for tastings on weekends when they are especially crowded, but at 3pm on a weekday with no crowd, 2 couples at the counter, one staff member per couple and we had to wait 20 minutes to taste? Kinda silly. They seem to stick to their tasting times pretty rigidly too. Our wine expert wasn't helping the other couples and could've easily done our tasting sooner. I'm sure that we'll be back but probably not for a tasting, which is too bad since their tasting selection changes regularly and I like to try before I buy. read more

The food at the bistro was excellent, the ambiance is welcoming and the staff is lovely, however the wine tastes like sugar water. It was undrinkable - even the most dry red and whites on the menu were sugar-laden. The wine was so terrible, I was unable to finish even one full glass due to impending nausea and vomiting. If you like kool aid with added sugar, a weird chemical scent and the absence of alcoholic effect you may enjoy this wine. read more

Hostess at door was most rude. Customer service was not her concern. She treated us as though we were a bother just walking in the door. Few people were inside yet friendly service was Nill. We will not be back. read more

I went here to see what everyone was talking about. I love wine, but these wines are way too sweet. Also the guy who served me did not seem to want to be there at all. He did not offer any tastings or encourage me to have a certain wine. Maybe it was because they were closing in 30 minutes? I took the wine outside to sip it with my husband, because he had the dog with him outside. I went back in to buy a bottle to take home. The lady that rang me up gave me a hard time about my age (and yes I am over 21). Rude. read more

A lot of free wine to taste, fantastic staff (our tasting guru Kay was excellent!), a funny and charming owner, great stories shared, and, most importantly, great, cheap wines! You are foolish to pass this place up! Especially if you love sweet wines! It will definitely be on our must-stop list anytime we travel this way for vacation! read more
