Lovely friendly atmosphere, we got a warm welcome when we arrived. They do a good range of food served Mon-Sat 12pm -8pm and Sunday Lunch 12pm - 3pm. I have not tried a Sunday lunch yet but have been midweek when the food was lovely, generous portions! I thought the cost of the main meals were very good and were what I expect from a local pub. Talking to the lady behind the bar she informed us that they have just added some B&B accommodation, this will come in handy for relatives visiting us from Yorkshire, a bit different from the usual premier inn. The pub itself has a very nice lounge, very relaxing with fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and this has a warm atmosphere. There is a separate bar area which also has a nice feel to it. I will come back here again, and although I do not live in Ellington, i wish this was my local! Plenty of parking outside the pub. The interior is immaculate: beautiful modern decor that isn't flashy, nor does it detract from the architecture of the building. Excellent service: Leo is an attentive and friendly host who goes to great lengths to look after the comfort of his guests. Good food: Breakfast is generous and hearty Whenever friends come to town, I recommend that they stay here rather than with me. Once found , we were very pleased to see parking - rare in Edinburgh. The rooms were well appointed , a little small, and at first extremely noisy. We were on the first floor and could hear the clomping of guests on the exposed wood stairs. The breakfast room was also very near our door and I was thinking there was to be no sleeping - but I was wrong. Somehow , magically , the noise didn't wake us - I am a very light sleeper too. Whatever the sound dynamic was in the place - I slept very comfortably and quietly. If we were going to be spending time in our rooms , I would have found the space restrictive but for a good nights rest , it was great. The only other thing I felt was a head scratcher was the bathroom mirror. Very space age, 3-D type design that completely did not go with the decor. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was very good. The hosts are happy to accommodate your every need. They had umbrellas for the rain and a very nifty call button that summoned a cab in under 10 minutes ! It's location is walkable to some things but since you could have your car on property , it's easy to drive anywhere you want to go within a few minutes. Come and stay and enjoy this cozy gem in the midst of busting Edinburgh.

Breakfast is large gourmet and cooked to order including eggs poached, grilled, or scrambled, black pudding, haggis, sausage, potato scone, bacon, beans, ham and far more options. Specials are prepared on the weekends. This meal is so hardy you won't need lunch. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed. The beds are as comfortable as any top tier hotel. The rooms can be blacked out for a very quiet deep long sleep. I slept better here then I have in months anywhere else. Good free high speed internet that is fast enough to stream video. Ross and Kathleen have created a charming experience that we will return to with every visit to Edinburgh.

This was one of the most delightful accommodation I had for my entire trip. Yvette and Norman were very welcoming. I was practically made to feel not like a paying guest, but rather as part of their family. Rooms are very reasonably priced, very clean and tidy. Breakfast is included, and includes an assortment of cereal, various fruit, juice, a full English breakfast, with eggs done any way you prefer. Yvette is a chef by training, and this shows with the quality of the cooked food. They have 2 adorable cocker spaniels. When first entering, they will bark. But once you're in, they're the most gentle, loving dogs one can imagine. Their favorite pastime appears to be having a had placed on them for petting. The location of the B&B is perfect. Only a few blocks away from the center of town and the train station, it is located on a quiet side street. There is actually a fair amount to do in Carlisle, most notably the Cathedral, Castle, and the Tullie House Museum, all located within a short walk of Langleigh House. Carlisle also has a nice assortment of good restaurants. I am looking forward to my next visit here.

Breakfast is good, service is awesome. Just one word of advice: If you coming by train and think it is easy 12 min walk, think again. Google maps gives directions through Calton Hill, which is easy hiking trail but not walking street with luggage. At least walk around it or take a quick cab ride.
