The meal was decent overall, but it wasn't particularly memorable. The pie looked great and had a nicely baked, golden crust that was easily the best part of the dish. While the filling was hearty enough, it lacked the depth of flavor we were expecting from a traditional pub pie and felt a little under-seasoned. The chips were good, and the vegetables were cooked well, making for a solid, comforting meal. The atmosphere of the hotel was pleasant and provided a nice place to relax after exploring the castle. While the food wasn't bad by any means, it didn't quite stand out among some of the other meals we had during our trip.

Probably more like 3.5 stars but here we go…read more.. We stayed for 2 nights while visiting the castle and exploring the area. The hotel is perfectly acceptable. Not updated, but well maintained and great views and location. Staff was relatively helpful. We had breakfast one morning (included with the room) and it was not good. We ate at a different hotel the next day and enjoyed it more. This is where I disclaim that Im American, so maybe my food preferences were just different. Theres nothing overtly wrong with it. We just didn't like it. We had made dinner reservations but ended up canceling them and exploring nearby towns and islands. All in all, it was fine. Id probably try a different hotel next time, but i dont have any complaints.

We stayed in Bamburgh for one night's R&R at the Victoria. Really friendly atmosphere and helpful…read morestaff, and they were well-versed about the current COVID restrictions. The room was clean and comfortable; obviously it's not the most modern place, but the bed was comfy and it had a good shower. No lift, sadly. The real star of the show was the food - we'd booked in the restaurant for the evening meal, which was just as well as it was pretty full, given the reduced seating available due do COVID. The menu has a great selection of seafood, and I have to recommend the seafood sharing platter, which was the perfect size for two as a main course. For starters, I had the beetroot cured salmon, and Herself had fishcakes; we were both too full to manage a dessert after that! We also splashed out and had an extremely nice bottle of wine from Marlborough, NZ to remind us of our trip there last year (we've become huge fans of NZ wines now). For breakfast the next morning, I resorted to form and had the full veggie option, while Herself chose the Craster kipper, which I am assured was probably the best kipper she's ever had. I'm not a huge fan of kippers, so will take her word on that. All in all, it was a lovely break and we really liked this hotel. It was only slightly marred by discovering on leaving that the car next to us in the car park (which is about 100m away round the corner) had dinged our wing slightly with their door and left without a note. But that's not the hotel's fault.

It used to be very dull, our least favourite pub in Warkworth in fact, but now we are happy to take the walk up the hill to visit. It has a pool table and a tv which has live football on during the football season. The staff are friendly and it gets a mixed crowd of guests, locals, walkers and so on. It still tends to be quieter than the Masons Arms and the Hermitage Inn which are arguably prettier and in a more central location but it certainly gets more folks in than it did a few years ago! I've never dined here so I can't comment on the quality of the food however the prices seem reasonable for Warkworth with mains coming in at just under the £10 mark. I've given it 3 stars because it's a fairly typical pub really, not great but not bad either.

However, we were back in the area and decided to give it another chance (it does have great views!) and we had a completely different experience. We subsequently visited it several times during our weeks holiday and had the same service on each visit. I'd now happily recommend it to anyone and we'll certainly return when we are next in the area.

Business travelers will find A full health club, a great English pub, a Starbucks and a Buca di Beppo in the lounge of this 3-story facility. If you haven't been to Europe, there are a few oddities you might never have experienced. First, there are no key cards here. You get a real key with an odd looking keychain. The chain acts like a master switch to the lights and TV. SO if you arrive at night and the door slams shut, you will be truly groping in the dark and wondering why the light switch does not work.. If this happens, open the door to the hall to let light in the room. Find the "thingamajiggy" on the wall and insert your key chain. Now flip on the switches. Newcastle can be fairly dark and the lighting is still pretty dark. Make sure you also turn on each outlet. No doubt after a long travel your phone might need charging and you don't want to find out that your phone is not charging just because you didn't flip the switch. The room is large enough and the bathroom is a decent size with heated towel racks. The gym is full service and very popular in the area. You will find many of the locals coming and going after work. Also the restaurant and pub are well utilized every day of the week. The Victory pub is probably where you would want to eat as service is a little faster and you can get more local fare. We ate at Buca di Beppo one night for variety and comfort food one night. The dishes were basic but different from the American menus. Highly recommend if you are strictly here for business and will not need to be in downtown Newcastle.

The hotel itself is a bit of a mixed bag, the ground floor reception area with bar & restaurant feels quite modern (I figured it must've had a recent refit) but the rooms were starting to show their age. The bathroom in my room in particular was looking a bit rough around the edges. The room was warm & fairly quiet, facilitating a fairly sound sleep, although there was some noise creeping in from surrounding rooms. There were signs stating they offered WiFi throughout the hotel, but I didn't use it. The health club looked fairly modern & there seemed to be a good number of locals using it. Despite the hotel being full over the weekend, the staff throughout where very friendly & helpful, they really did give a great account of themselves. All in all this was a decent, if short, visit to the hotel. I'd struggle to recommend the hotel to visitors simply because of its location, but if you were visiting the business park for work then I'd say you're best to stay here.

The choice of food for breakfast is amazing, almost too much: fresh coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a whole range of cooked breakfasts with a big emphasis on locally caught fish.
