    Raw fried chicken

It wasn't the fried raw chicken thigh I received today that led me to leaving a review, it was the response I received when I called the store just to give them a heads up so it doesn't happen again to someone else. "Well, I didn't take it out of the oven so I don't know what to tell you" was the response I received. I work in this industry and I'm well aware that things like this happen. Rather than trying to play the blame game and showing no concern over the fact your store just sold fried chicken that was almost totally raw, you should have assured the customer that finding out how that happened would be a top priority. But now I'm led believe their standards of food safety and handling may be very low and will not be returning.

Ordered a chicken cutlet grinder with lettuce tomato & Mayo. I didn't get that. What I got is a soggy piece of bread with clear wrap INSIDE of my tomato mush. After removing the plastic, and half tomatoes that are soggy and disgusting, I had to do a double take at what was (or should I say was not) left. Discolored chicken with about three shavings of lettuce. Thank god I had my own Hellmans Mayo because there was no Mayo. This is not edible. This is a rip off. The kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday this is what I get? I am appalled to say the least.

Small sized market with a ton of stuff packed inside!! The highlight has to be the huge deli that served lunch meat / cheese, pre made meatballs and pastas, even thick, delicious NY Strip steaks that grilled up to perfection! We came here since it was close by and not a big chain. We were able to grab everything we could need (including paper goods and an excellent rub / marinade) to host a last minute cookout at our rented apartment near the beach. On the way into the store they have a huge outdoor area full of plants and trees right off the ample parking lot and fresh produce by the basket full. Follow your nose to the fresh baked bread case and just get something! Don't forget the butter! It can get crowded but seems worth the wait, in my opinion.

They have their own homemade spices for a lot less!!!! Compared to big supermarkets.

A great cooler with local organic ice cream, and tons of organic sweet treats on your way to cash out.but my favorite is their full deli with plenty of options. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. This day I got the block island on a wrap and when I opened it i had never seen a sandwich wrap look like this. The center was all wrap. When i removed all the wrap in the center it was a very flat thin piece of meat. Maybe this just wasn't their day but i was disappointed when i got back home and opened it up. I won't let this stop me from going there again but if it happens again I won't order a deli sandwich again. I give this place five stars but on this particular day just 4. Side note my mom also got a sandwich a turkey on white and it was so soggy she said it wasnt edible. We only traveled about 15 minutes with them back home.

This place would rank higher, and honestly, I don't think the negative is within their control, but…read moreit affected the shopping experience, nonetheless. Firstly, let's talk about the positives. For a big name grocery store, they have a very wide variety of many different things. For example, they have a huge selection of cheeses. They also have one of the biggest ice cream aisles I've seen. Prices are fair, but frozen apps/snacks are cheaper at Walmart. Soda is about the same price, and these guys have a wider selection. The meat and seafood section is really good too. Oh, and they have live lobsters. That seems rare for grocery stores these days, but it's much appreciated. Okay, good selection, good prices, I should've loved this place. But, I didn't. And that's because of the negative...the patronage. It's sort of an unfair quality to grade, because it's pretty much out of their control, but it severely negatively affects the shopping experience here. Multiple times, people just block the aisle, and they don't bother moving their cart out of the way when they see you. One person even parked his cart perpendicularly to the aisle. Excuse me, are we for real?? What the heck is that all about? Oh, you know how you're about to pop out of the aisle, and someone else was just about to cross as well? And you both stop and you both apologize and you both tell each other "Oh, no problem"? Oh, that doesn't happen here. Out of the 6 times I had that event, and I apologized... 1 time, they also apologized. 2 times, I got ignored. 1 time, I got an eye-roll. And 2 times, I got a death stare that was only stopped when I gave back a death stare. I mean, for real?? We're playing elementary school rules now, are we? I've only come across this type of behavior at this store. Even 4 miles down the road at Walmart, people are better-behaved. If you're on statins, I highly suggest not shopping here, because the environment will not be conducive to your condition.

Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island in particular, have a very strong Stop & Shop base. This store is in a busy area of Westerly, but it does have competition with an Aldi almost across the street and a SuperWalmart, less than a few miles away. I went to get some croutons for a quick lunch we were having and they had a nice large selection of them. Checkout was not too bad.

We had a large crowd to feed after a long day at the beach and just wanted a few party side pizzas. We called around to all of the local pizza places and Big Y was the only place that would do them without 6 hours notice. We wouldn't have even thought of them but a local recommend we call them. We saved at least $100 by ordering here. Their party size cheese(40+ pieces) was the same prices as the large cheese pizzas that only had 10 slices at two other local pizza places. Another evening we decided we wanted lobsters. Called Big y to check prices and they were able to do 6 steamed lobsters 20 minutes after we called! We grabbed some, oysters, corn and potatoes and we were devouring our amazing meal less than an hour later for a fraction of what it would have cost to eat lobster out for 7 people. The steamed lobsters stayed very hot in the bags while we prepped our other food. The groceries may be a little pricier than average here but check out the extras that they offer for sure!
