No way! always nice to see a place i should have yelped before become a yelp, sorry inside voice coming out. so, I have been coming here for years, maybe decades at this point. the better side has been coming here likely since she was in diapers, but i digress. the store aspect of dunns is fine, overpriced imo, but with walmart across the street....well, sorry for putting it out there. sure their products are a higher class, but if you need a bag of flour or something generic, elsewhere, artisan and fancy pants.... what i am about though is the prep food/deli counter many many a sandwich has been consumed, almost a flock of chickens too, great fried chicken, fingers, pieces, etc. this weekend i learned of their steak and cheese, mondo, ill be back for that for sure. not strips or pieces, its two slices of ribeye (?) soft bread. not exactly like in the 215, but still very good and as i was saying, new jeremy staple. i will say, i have had my order delayed waaaaaay longer than needed when ordering during rush/peak which is not cool, but ill let it slide a little. review is dunn read more

The regular staff are upbeat, friendly etc, but today at 4:40 a new very young female cashier was making sarcastic cunning remarks about me to the other cashier! I've never seen this young female at the register before so I have no idea why all the SNARKY remarks about me!!!...very entitled and unnecessary! Great family owned shop. The Spino family has generously donated foods and catered special event all over town. This place has the best fried chicken in town. Hands down. Call ahead during the summer months. I once waited a very very long time. And it seemed like people were getting their orders before me (they could have been phone orders) and one of the owners went up to the registers and gave me a very steep discount! I didn't complain or anything. But that really blew me away. I also love their twice baked potatoes. But at $2.50 each I only have them once in a while. I also go here for large canisters of food seasonings. Waaay cheaper than stop and shop or Walmart. Their prepped foods are always fresh. Sorry for anyone who missed out on the most incredibly delicious meatloaf dinner last night from Dunns Corner Market. Not only was the meatloaf amazing but the homemade gravy was rich and smooth and was excellent over the homemade mashed potatoes. The entire staff at this establishment is phenomenal. The butchers at Dunn's Corners Market are excellent. The meat is fresh and very tender. The pinwheel steak is pounded for a few days and then brined. It cooks quickly on a cast iron stovetop frying pan,and it's chock full of flavor. Seasonally, the deli counter has a vanilla bread pudding that is moist and quite delectable. The A&M Bronx Baking Company bread from New York is delivered early every morning to Dunn's Corners, and it's truly a treat. It wasn't the fried raw chicken thigh I received today that led me to leaving a review, it was the response I received when I called the store just to give them a heads up so it doesn't happen again to someone else. "Well, I didn't take it out of the oven so I don't know what to tell you" was the response I received. I work in this industry and I'm well aware that things like this happen. Rather than trying to play the blame game and showing no concern over the fact your store just sold fried chicken that was almost totally raw, you should have assured the customer that finding out how that happened would be a top priority. But now I'm led believe their standards of food safety and handling may be very low and will not be returning. read more

Ordered a chicken cutlet grinder with lettuce tomato & Mayo. I didn't get that. What I got is a soggy piece of bread with clear wrap INSIDE of my tomato mush. After removing the plastic, and half tomatoes that are soggy and disgusting, I had to do a double take at what was (or should I say was not) left. Discolored chicken with about three shavings of lettuce. Thank god I had my own Hellmans Mayo because there was no Mayo. This is not edible. This is a rip off. The kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday this is what I get? I am appalled to say the least. read more

Unfortunately the customer service is horrible in the meat section. The deli and front end staff are friendly and very professional. The majority of the butchers are extremely rude and not helpful unless you are a "friend!" I have spoken on numerous occasions with front end supervisor and they roll their eyes, understanding my frustration! Sorry, doing business here for 15+ years but will go to Westerly Packing in the future! If you are a favorite local, enjoy! Small sized market with a ton of stuff packed inside!! The highlight has to be the huge deli that served lunch meat / cheese, pre made meatballs and pastas, even thick, delicious NY Strip steaks that grilled up to perfection! We came here since it was close by and not a big chain. We were able to grab everything we could need (including paper goods and an excellent rub / marinade) to host a last minute cookout at our rented apartment near the beach. On the way into the store they have a huge outdoor area full of plants and trees right off the ample parking lot and fresh produce by the basket full. Follow your nose to the fresh baked bread case and just get something! Don't forget the butter! It can get crowded but seems worth the wait, in my opinion. read more

ButchersALWAYS got an attitude. No eye contact, muttering and general disrespectful demeanor of all the butchers. With the exception of one young excellent guy. I was picking up a confirmed order this morning and it was not ready and as usual , butcher was scornful and contemptuous. Dunn's Corners Market is open year round which is a plus. They get plenty of traffic from the Weekapaug summer crowd so expect higher prices. I use them mostly for steaks & burgers since the quality is so good & they're closer to my house than Westelry Packing. They have a pretty thorough selection of fresh produce but can run out of items. I usually pick up a Boylan's ginger ale when I'm here & they have a great selection of potato chips from Utz & Dirty Chips. They have a prepared foods section & cater too. I haven't had a grinder from them in years but remember them being pretty good. Dunns Corner Market is just that: a market. It's not trying to be something it isn't. It's got a laid back small town vibe & it's not as busy or congested as the local Stop & Shop or WalMart. If you like quality meats go to Dunns Corner Market, just expect to pay a little more for most items then you would elsewhere. read more

It's a small family owned markerlt. To tell you the truth i wasn't impressed the first time i went here, i thought that it was expensive esp with the produce but anyway i was looking for a specific cut of short ribs for my korean bbq and i was calling around if there's a butcher shop that will do it for me and i called them and the guy i talked to was very familiar and did it for me. I got there and picked it up and it's perfect! A lot cheaper too compared to buying it from korean town in nyc. Not only that they have prepared food too, salads and pasta and pies. You can also call to order a bucket of their amazing fried chicken!!! I think 10pcs is 12$ im not sure but holy cow those chicken thighs and breast were huge!!!! Meat department guys are the best you guys rock, special mention to mr Andy! And the first guy that cut my short ribs i didn't get your name. You can also order turkey and dinner entries here during the holidays but you have to put your order quick because they get a lot of orders. Usually good experiences. Been going for years. Today with 2 employees behind the counter, I tried to order deli sandwiches (2). I was told, "the kitchen is closed on Monday and Tuesday"... In the peak of vacation season??? It wasn't a hot sandwich, cold cuts... with 2 employees just standing there... oh well, went to "Hometown Heroes", they were open and it was very good. read more

The crowded parking lot will tell you that Dunns Corners Market is the place to shop. It's jammed any weekend during the summertime and busy during the off season also. Here's why... Meat department...old fashioned with meats and poultry displayed in glass case. Pick the pieces you want - someone behind the counter will weigh them up, wrap them and send you on your way. Meat department - quality and advice. I can tell the difference between Dunns Corners' meats and those purchased elsewhere in town. Better quality and priced competitively against full priced products at the chain supermarkets. And the advice...I asked for help selecting a ham for a holiday meal a while back. The owner explained my options and then went into the back and cut me off exactly what I needed. Breads and rolls - good selection of freshly baked Italian-style bread and rolls. All baked off premises. Specialty and gourmet items - not my typical purchase, but appears decent based on size of store Deli counter - I don't think I ever purchased anything here over the years, but always crowded. A good sign. Convenience - in and out. No long walk from the parking lot into the store. Always two cashiers when busy. I have always been pleased with Dunns Corners Market. Quality, advice, convenience, etc., keep me coming back year round. read more

Excellent, especially for deli, butcher shop, takeout. Their fried chicken is wonderful. I always order my Thanksgiving turkey from them, and their stuffed burgers are the best for cookouts. Produce and groceries are a little pricey for everyday shopping, but everything is very, very good. Staff is friendly and helpful, too. I've never run across anyone working here who is short tempered or grouchy- I honestly have no idea what the reviewer who complained about the woman who takes sandwich orders was on about! read more

Its a regular market deli with ok sandwiches for the beach. They have Brew Dr Kombucha, thats cool. They need to expand their local and organic produce selection. Conventional produce is always second rate to fruits and veggies rasied without chemicals. They should get their bread from a local bakery who uses better flour, like Loveridge Place. Like many local businesses here, Dunn Corners Market is a classic example of the old Westerly, its stuck in the past, and not in a charming way. They need to step it up and carry more local and organic products and use fresher, less preservative-laden ingredients. A more humane meat selection involving free range eggs and chickens, grass-fed beef, and hormone-free milk would also be a logical improvement. A diverse selection of those types of products is what will make Dunns Corner's Market stand out. I hope they make it happen. read more

This review is only of the grinders (subs for you non Rhode Islanders). When my friends and I go to the beach for the day, we always stop by Dunns Corner Market on our way to the beach to pick up grinders and chips to eat on the beach. The grinders bought from most places along the beach don't come close to the freshness and taste of the ones bought from joint!. My all time favorite is the Italian. It comes with Genoa Salami and Capicola ham. I always get it with onion, banana peppers and oil and vinegar on the lettuce. The grinders here are probably among the best in South County. Don't eat their "fresh" bread from the Bronx. The bread comes in every morning in the same old dirty cardboard boxes that they save, outside by the ice machine. When it rains the boxes get wet and they hang to dry. The boxes are not taped and bread tends to spill all over the floor. The owner puts in back on the shelf anyways. I found a cockroach in the grinder roll box and I was told to put the bread out anyways. The store is very dirty. They've had the same rugs since they had opened (in the 80's) and have soup and prepared food stains all over. There is mold on the refrigerators, and they only empty to clean the meat, deli, and produce cases fully, once a year. So if you are going to buy any food from there, I'd recommend the day after Christmas. The only thing trust worthy is their meats, but personally, I would never recommend shopping here. read more

This market is the best. The atmosphere is great. The owner and his employees are so friendly, helpful and efficient too. The store iis not overwhelming and large like most markets are these days. It's perfect for stopping in and picking up the ingredients you need for your next meal or supplies you may have run out of. Their prepared foods are excellent and I highly recommend their fried chicken for parties or just picking up on a whim for the beach. The meat there is of very high quality. You will notice a big difference between their meat and other markets. If you are having a special occasion definitely order it from there , ie roasts and filets. Even if you just want burgers you will notice a big difference in taste and quality. They offer fresh seafood, fresh produce, fresh breads and other high quality foods from local suppliers. For example they have fresh butter brought in from a farm in ct that is delicious. The bottom line is when you are in a hurry and need to pick up a few items you will find it to be it convenient, manageable and friendly. I cannot say enough. This market is a great asset to our community here in Westerly. read more

I've been craving fish and chips and was told that DCM had a good order. We were not disappointed. The fish, even after driving the take out home, was still hot and crispy. If you are looking to sit and enjoy a fish dinner you'll have to go elsewhere. I give the staff 5 stars, especially the tall woman who works at the deli. She is so sweet. She washed my granddaughter's apple and sliced it up for her even though it was a little busy. The prepared food is blah! I've tried just about every meal and have concluded the salads are their specialty, fresh and delicious. I failed to read the ingredient label on the crab cakes while in the store but when I got home I read it and realized they contain surimi. Potato salads are from canned potatoes. On a recent vacation a local friend recommended this place. I arrived and asked the young man behind the counter if they had any steamers. He did not know what steamers were. I explained that they were clams. They were all out. I asked what type of oysters they had. He simply stated that they had oysters but he had no idea what kind they were or where they had been harvested. I asked what type of marinade the shrimp was in. He said he did not know, but it was extremely spicy. Another person came over at this point and said that it was a basic marinade with a hint of spice. I asked for a pound of the shrimp that was not in the marinade. He gave me a pound of marinated shrimp. I chose not to say anything and try it. I also picked up a couple NY strip steaks. I grilled them to med. rare. The meat was chewey, lacked flavor, and was a complete disappointment. The shrimp were ok, but had probably been sitting around for a few days. They did not taste fresh and their texture was not as firm as fresh shrimp should be. Absolutely disappointing and a waste of $40. read more
