I enjoyed this coffee shop for breakfast. The staff was friendly. The decor was attractive. I had a hot chocolate and Cinnamon Twist. The hot chocolate was a perfect temperature for drinking - no burned tongue. The cinnamon twist was pretty large with a good crunch. I managed to eat it all. My husband had a regular coffee and a poppy seed muffin. He said he liked the coffee, but it was a little stronger than he usually drinks. He enjoyed the muffin. Quick and hot! This is exactly what I needed when I wanted a hot beverage while stopping in Hudson. I ordered the special on the board which was a mix of green tea and cider. I need to make that at home it was delicious. The location was clean and modern with plenty of room to sit and relax as needed. We took our drinks to go an they quickly served them up. A nice corner Dunn's in downtown Hudson, a respite from walks along the shore and the tourist shops as fresh brewed coffee awaits. The brews are always fresh at Dunn's especially this one with a selection of sandwiches, (not premade), and the usual pastries including scones that aren't all the same. The barista was helpful, the AC running and WiFi worked, all is fine. read more

Since opening, I would say I am a regular and this spot is most welcome in downtown Hudson. Today I stopped in and grabbed a Steamed Chocolate Nirvana. It's like hot milk chocolate mixed with coffee but not overly sweet or overpowering the coffee flavors. I also like their scones which are light in the center with a nice golden crunchy crust. The decor is typical of Dunn brothers and coffee shops if this caliber. I've tried several different specialty drinks and just straight coffee and have no complaints. Now if your looking for coffee, this is your place to be. But if your looking for a quiet place to study , relax or just feel like you want to hunker down in a comfy chair....this is NOT the place ! Its so horribly loud and the music is some loud blaring music, that you can't even relax too! And the loud uncomfortable chairs don't even make you feel relaxed! I even bring ear phones to drown out all the extremely loud variations of noises ( it doesn't help ) I've been to coffee shops where they have a quiet area with nice arm chairs to be able to study ( I guess I need to find a new place ) read more

Dunn Bros is definitely my favorite coffee in town. The Hanley location is closer for me, but I like to go to the downtown location when I can for the atmosphere. Love the Dunn Bros itself and love all the shops and other restaurants downtown. It's nice to have my favorite coffee downtown to be able to grab a cup after lunch or while shopping. read more

I used to come here more often to get my mocha fix because I liked to pick up a pound of peruvian coffee on occasion. It was the one blend of coffee I found to be much lower on the acid and bitter backnote. Unfortunately, it's kind of out of my way being way on the south end of Carmichael so the only time I ever stopped there was when I was going through the drive through at Westconsin CU. Now that I have no need to go down there, it's kind of a much more random stop in. I wasn't too impressed with their mocha. It was kind of tasteless with not much of a chocolate flavor. The baristas are semi helpful in helping you select some beans if you want to get coffee to go. They are rather expensive at $10 + per pound on the coffee though. read more

Normally I wouldnt give a place that is not fully sustainable (composting, all organic, local, humane meats, dairy; coconut cream (not milk) provided, etc) 5 stars, but Im just so happy to have a main-drag alternative to Berts which I won't touch with a ten foot pole. This dunn bros is everything Berts is not. Enumerated as follows... Great Coffee! Vs Berts mudwater (generous analogy, more like excrement) clean, modern feel with super elegant taste and natural materials, wood, metal, tile, etc Vs Berts clutter hoarding ridiculousness that just squeels of tacky Americana. Friendly, no-BS baristas. They manage to be personable, remember me and my beverage, do their best to make it precisely as my very particular needs dictate and don't complain...to be fair, the handful of opportunities I gave Berts to get it right, I think they tried, but because they assumed they knew what I wanted instead of hearing and understanding what I was trying to accomplish (basically a traditional double shot americano (50% espresso, 50% hot water)), they fouled it up each and every time, which didn't matter anyway since the beans are horrid. No pestering. I used to work with the owner of a pub, and he thought he was making it personable by talking each and every customer's ear off, but i would hear from virtually everyone, the single biggest complaint, that noone would say to him directly because they didn't want to hurt his feelings..was that they wanted to enjoy their food and drink with their families, NOT the guy who's profiting from their patronage... :) Anyway, Bert could take a lesson from DB's. Be personable, but not OVERBEARING. Several organic options here which is a big plus though in this industry it should be the norm by now. Actually since organic allows some 100+ synthetics it would be nice to see it move beyond that, but I maintain unusually high standards and endocrine disruptors belong in neither the environment, the human body or the food supply.. Huge front windows facing the sun. This is the main draw for us so that on cooler mornings we can still bask in the light but not freeze down by the waterfront, great people watching too if that's your bag. we used the law of attraction (handy being a Spark of the Creator!) to help manifest this venue, this DB is the single most important thing the main drag has been lacking which Berts could've supplied save for the aforementioned issues which are legion. Ample outlets. should go without saying but try out a few cafes in mpls and see how that goes for ya! lololol Ok, so basically perfection but even though this review *was* going to be 5 stars, the way-too-loud smoothe jazz (or nails on a chalkboard as I like to call it) is making me feel like Im at the dentist office and im tempted to deduct 2 stars, but because it hits on most other aspects I will limit the hacking to 1 star. If they lower the volume and stick with more universally appreciable tunes, I will restore it to 5. Earphones are going in now, and thats fixing the problem, BUT I shouldn't have to do that. virtually NOBODY likes smoothe jazz...FACT.
