The drip coffee cup seemed to be foam. The coffee itself seemed weak. I am one of those people who prefer to drip coffee out of a mug. The coffee shop was busy and it is located in the downtown area. The coffee shop offered a decent amount of seating and activities for children. Our visit to Brewed Awakening was unremarkable.

I didn't dock any stars because the donuts that I did choose were oh so soft and tasty. Pillow soft! My mother also thoroughly enjoyed hers. And I don't just mean the obvious ones like Bertman's or Great Lake Brewing Company, but smaller places like Erie Island Coffee, Old Brooklyn Cheese Company and small local honeys and jams from Amish Country. There's a full grocery, beer and wine, bakery, very nice deli and a small prepared foods bar. When I was there, the deli was completely poppin' with activity. When you're in a small town, you sometimes wonder if you'll be able to find everything you need in the local grocer (keep in mind, there's also a Giant Eagle up the street). But this smaller market carried all the "brand" names you might be looking for in a chain grocery. I also loved the cute autumnal touches like their little pumpkin patch inside. It was more food than I could handle so go hungry. The total was actually less than I anticipated for all I got (portions are far more so order less and add on if still hungry). There were regulars there when I sat down and the owner seemed to know each of them. That's the spot I like-- the hometown spot to grab good food and catch up with the locals. The hotcakes alone were enough to bring me back to Susie's! Make sure you add that to you breakfast/lunch spots before leaving the beach town. You won't regret it.
