A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. It's quite different to any other Boba shop. Except the other TeaLatte's around DFW (there's maybe 7 or 8 now), and the Teapresso Bars in Houston (I think there's 2 at the moment), and the ones in Hawaii, where the chain is from. Yes, they're from Hawaii. That might explain why they taste so different - in a good way. We will definitely be coming back in the future to try different things, but do bear in mind that for the purist this is definitely along the lines of somewhat Americanized (or Hawaiianized) Boba rather than a Taiwanese original.
