Besides it being held in a building which is older than the country (which is super cool), the games and seating provided, alongside the cool and funky artwork give people a very laid back cafe feel to play games, drink some coffee and relax. Hard to tell exactly when it opened, as their website offers scant information, but they first started posting on Facebook in 2011 if that is anything to go by. They don't have a large footprint in the NJ brewing scene as they don't distribute to any liquor stores or bars/restaurants (they don't even offer beers in cans to go), and they don't do any big events other than the typical karaoke or trivia nights. What they do offer is a nice place to hang out in an old historic building right on the Main Street in the downtown area, and a solid lineup of beers. One thing that makes them stand out is a great selection of beers on nitro. From my experience with NJ breweries, you're lucky to find a single beer on nitro. At Village Idiot there are seven of them, most of them dessert stouts like a cookie butter white stout and a salted caramel milk stout. All that we tried were delicious and not crazy high in ABV like other dessert stouts. Flights are only $10 which is pretty cheap compared to other NJ breweries. Of note is that as of November 2025 they no longer allow outside drinks including water bottles like Nalgenes and Stanley Cups. Too many idiots sneaking in alcohol, according to their social media. Overall it has a bit more of a dive bar vibe only frequented by locals rather than a traditional NJ brewery, but the beer is definitely good enough, and the surrounding Main Street charming and quaint enough that I would definitely return.

Right away, when walking in, we were greeted with delicious looking dessert options and welcoming faces. We were seated nicely next to the decorated window, and our waiter was quick with our orders. My crab and scallop penne pasta with Alfredo sauce was delicious, with seasoned bread crumbs on top. The Alfredo sauce sadly did overpower the dish, and there just was not enough crab to come through. Some bread on the side would have been a treat to soak up all the sauce and bits of crab. The eggplant parmigiana had many layers of tasty eggplant and their flavorful sauce. I am glad we ordered the fries on the side, because they came seasoned and went perfectly with both meals. We decided to take our desserts home with us, and the limoncello was our standout favorite. There were many other options on their dessert menu that we were debating between, and we will have to stop by for more later for sure. Between the welcoming staff, relaxing live music, and well prepared plates, Robin's Nest Restaurant delivers a charming dining experience that stands out.

The menu is a little small and pretty generic looking but we decided to go with a Strawberry shaved ice (Pink Paradise). Strawberry shaved ice, strawberries, strawberry syrup and boba-balls. They literally shave this ice from a giant block on this neat spinning device, and hand make it start to finish. Adding the toppings sparingly, and precise to make it look as good as it tastes. I would give this place 5 stars for service and friendliness. The owner let us taste a little bit of the tea before she poured it in a cup. Unfortunately this place gets 2 stars for the quality of the tea. I ordered the taro milk tea with bubbles and without any extra sweeteners, and it was too sweet and very grainy. The mouthfeel of the tea was very off putting, even though I liked the texture of the bubbles. The matcha milk green tea wasn't grainy, but it wasn't anything special, in my opinion. Their other desserts may be better, but I don't think I would get the bubble tea again.
