My boyfriend and I took our last final exam this morning and went to Dunkin Donuts to celebrate. Being college students, we are on a tight budget and rarely treat ourselves but this morning was a small celebration before graduating. The customer service was terrible. We received attitude from the staff ordering in the drive thru and they got our order wrong--twice. We got four donuts and a vanilla latte! Not that hard... We drove away only to find the latte was wrong. Donuts are great, but not worth the poor service. read more

This is one of the most poorly-managed Dunkin' Donuts I've ever been to. On many visits they are simply out of nearly every kind of donut, with poor excuses as to why. And this is often at 10 in the morning on a weekend. read more

Needs a serious change in management. Inconsistent options, drinks are hit or miss depending on who makes them, half of the employees wander aimlessly with no clue what to do. Their espresso machine was broken for weeks at a time so all they had was plain coffee, which makes the place pointless for some. They have potential, but tend to disappoint. read more

I had to drop this rating a star. I talked to the owner (on the phone) about the issues I had with them running out of cups, lids, straws, cream all the time. He was very defensive and dismissive of my concerns. He tried to blame it on the employees being new. He said "thanks for your feedback" in the way someone would say f-off. I posted on the DD corporate wall because they were out of cream for three days straight, so obviously he doesn't give a crap about the customer experience. I've been a huge fan of Dunkin' Donuts since I was a kid. So I was thrilled there was one in the area now. Stopped in and ... they were out of almost all the donuts. OK... [begin random aside] They used to have an ad campaign "Time to make the donuts" about how obsessive they were about always making fresh donuts and having tons of donut varieties. I'd suggest that the manager of the Ames Dunkin' Donuts might want to get together with the staff and review those old ads. The concept of a donut place making donuts seems to be lost on someone working there. [end random aside] Anyway, ended up getting some donut holes which weren't very good. If you buy donuts and they are still sitting on your counter 3 days later, that's a bad sign. So in summary: they were out of most of their main product. Tried something else, it wasn't good. I just went to this Dunkin, as I usually do since it's the only one in Ames, and was laughed at the entire time. My friend ordered a cold brew and then asked if they had hash browns already made. Trying to be nice he wanted to see if they were already made because if not he was not going to have them make them for their sake. The girl in the drive thru laughed at us the entire time and we could hear other employees also laughing. I am confused as to what was so funny? At that point we were confused sitting in the drive thru and she was not communicating. She asked if we had flavor in the coldbrew and said she could make the hash browns because "they just have to be heated up if you know what I mean". It was uncomfortable and rude and somewhat concerning her talking about the hash browns. I understand it's 6:15pm and these are probably college students like myself; however, it made me feel like I was being laughed at in high school. I just suggest they try not to make customers that uncomfortable as we only have this Dunkin in Ames. Sad experience :( read more

Since opening this store has always been rather slow in fulfilling orders, however today was absolutely unacceptable. This was not due to laziness of the employees, but seemingly poor management as only 2 people were working at a key time of the day for the store, right around 8am-9am. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and sat down to wait for it, knowing it would take a while as there was a line at the counter. I eventually walked up to the pick up counter and one of the employees had to ask me what I was waiting for as if they didn't even know or remember that I had ordered something. Once I got my bagel I looked at the time and I had waited a full 20 minutes for my order (I am not just saying this, it really was that long). I usually don't complain about things but this store is beginning to have me looking for other options even though I can walk there from work. I also agree with the other comments in other reviews. The tables are always dirty, they don't seem to ever have many donuts if you get there after 8am, and I think I make better coffee at home with my cheap coffee maker. This place needs some better management or they need to request more funding for more staff from their national office (doubtful that is even possible). read more

I love DD! I'm from Chicago and I remember going there all the time, so I was so excited to finally get one close to me in Iowa. This one is pretty good. I'm usually there late on Thursday nights and the guy behind the counter has remembered twice now what type of coffee my dad gets, and he's picky about how he gets it, and this guy does it right! Also the selection of donuts they have at 8:00 at night is pretty impressive. I was there on a Saturday morning once, and the people then weren't quite as friendly, and they didn't put enough ice in my dad's coffee. They weren't even busy, we were the only people there. I've been to this place a few times and it's been okay, but this time was a completely different story. The poor guy at the counter was on his second day, but I don't blame him, we've all been there. All I wanted was an egg and ham wrap combo, with hash browns and coffee that it comes with. The other workers couldn't even help the guy out to figure out the cash register so it wouldn't charge me for two wraps, extra hash browns, etc. I ended up paying the same price for just the wrap and coffee, no hash browns. In this time, two separate people brought my boyfriend the coffee he ordered, yet the guy at the counter had to tell them a few times which coffee I wanted. You would think someone there would know what to do. They couldn't ALL be on their second day. Apparently there needs to be better communication there. read more

Incredibly slow. They have gotten my order wrong or given it to the wrong person or forgot to even make my order too many times. I went in today just to grab a couple donuts because there's no way they could mess that up. They did, by completely ignoring me for ten minutes until I walked out. I don't hate DD but I will never come back to this one. read more

Disgusting! I asked for a caramel latte and they have me straight up black coffee. And when I took it back, the cashier got an attitude with me. And again, when I got my 'fixed order' it was very watered down. The place was dirty, and had trash on the floor. 0/10 would not recommend coming here. read more

I am usually a big fan of Dunkin' Donuts, but this specific location was all sorts of bad. Not only did they get every item we ordered wrong, but it also took over 15 minutes to make a normal black coffee. I am not eager to return to this Dunkin' Donuts anytime soon! read more

Oh my god, I just had the worst experience in my life!!! So I just went to Dunkin Donuts for free coffee since I'm a veteran, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I've had good experiences at other locations but this was awful. I waited in line for like, 10 minutes, it smells like stale water and moldy coffee in there. I almost vomited from the smell. The cashier was incompetent, had no clue what a DD 214 was, which are discharge papers, had to consult the manager, the manager was rude. And then the cashier THREW the receipt at me!!!! They gave me no cream, it was a terrible experience! I expect to be treated with respect, even if I'm not a veteran, but I am and not to be cocky, but this is a day dedicated to men and women who raised their hand to serve. We deserve the utmost respect. I'm never going there again. It was abysmal. Nobody should go there and it should be condemned. I'm pretty sure that there are health code violations. And now I'm late to class because of that filthy place! And I have an exam today! So thank you Dunkin Donuts!!! read more

As a New Yorker, I love my DDs....I was so excited when DD finally came to Ames I was there the very first day at 4:45am. Yep, I was that excited. However, that excitement has quickly turned to disappointment. First, the tables are generally dirty.....I asked a young man behind the counter if he could clean the table I was going to use and he said....when I get a minute....however, he wasn't doing anything. I asked him for the cloth and cleaned it myself. I went back another day and there were no jelly donuts....how do you run out of a main staple??????? in the middle of the day?????? I went back a few days later and the tables were dirty and I asked the young lady if she could clean it and she looked at me like I was bothering her but she did clean the one I wanted plus the rest of the restaurant tables. This young lady is generally at DD and not very friendly she seems to have a scowl on her face most of the time....I work retail on a part time basis and if you don't like people, you should not work customer service type jobs. I am loyal for now but not sure how much longer that loyalty will hold out. I may just wait until I return to NYC to get my DD fix. Disappointed. read more

Absolute worst experience I've ever had at a coffee shop/restaurant/etc. I've never reviewed any establishement in my life, but this was SO INCOMPREHENDABLY POOR I just had to. For starters, the staff is slow, it took a timed 12 minutes from when i ordered to receive my order, and they are near incompetent, I had to repeat my order 4 times before they understood what I wanted. The sandwich I received was burnt, and stale. The coffee was a small dark coffee, nothing difficult. Boy was I wrong, it came double-cupped because there was a hole in the bottom of the inner cup the size of a QUARTER and due to this, if you just squeezed the cup at all coffee would seep up the space in-between the two cups and spill everywhere. My car is now a mess, my clothes are covered, and to top it off the coffee was COLD. This establishment doesn't deserve your business, and even more so doesn't deserve to be in business at all. I honestly have nothing good to say about this DD. I'm from Chicago so Dunkin is a staple when it comes to coffee. I went through the drive through one day when heading out of town and order a medium ice coffee and a brownie batter doughnut. Had I gone inside, I never would have ordered a doughnut. I was served a donut that had all of the frosting melted off, and also had a hair on it that in no way could be mine. Besides just my doughnut having melted frosting, all of the doughnuts in the whole store had melted off frosting. I understand it's summer and it's hot, but keep your store cold enough to avoid this problem! I've called customer service placing a complaint, being told that I'd be contacted within two days by the manager. That never happened, I called back a week later and was told that I'd be contacted within 24 hours, and that never happened again. Now I'm waiting to be contacted by the owner of the store and hoping to actually receive a call. This dunkin is so poorly run, understaffed, and I would recommend any coffee place in town over this Dunkin. read more

was put on "hold" in the drive-thru for an extended time, then when I finally was able to order a latte the employee said they were out of espresso beans. No lattes. Imagine, a coffeehouse out of espresso beans! I left and went to Starbucks. Never to return to the Dunkin at this location again. read more
