I hate having strangers come into my private residence for the purpose of providing service/estimates then disappearing without a word...feels weird and sketchy. In the past few years, KBS completed renovations for us involving, two full kitchens and one…read morekitchenette, five full bathrooms, two powder rooms AND two double car garages, PLUS bedrooms, living spaces, hallways, storage rooms, floors, lighting, carpeting, pantries and more in our two homes. All showcase quality IMO. Thus, we've plenty of recent experience with KBS outfit and feel confident in making the highest recommendation. In summary - KBS is not too big nor too small, not too expensive but not cheap, so they were just right for us - average homeowners who seek the very best value. In this regard, KBS was just right. Some highlights........ 1) The crew is experienced and cohesive. They've been together for a good long time. They work well together and we never observed inefficiency. They just work hard all day long. 2) I never had to worry about workers in our home. Honest, polite, professional, kind, and responsive are words I'd use to describe them. 3) Communications were timely and valuable. My advice is to take notes of every communication for reference. In one case we forgot it was our responsibility to acquire an appliance. Uh oh, it was our fault and a written record would have been useful to refer to. Yikes! 4) The budget estimates were honored. there was no bait and switch. Prices were transparent to us. 5) We enjoyed reviewing recommended selections of cabinets, floor, hardware, appliances, sinks etc. Today, we feel somewhat knowledgeable with KBS as our tutors. 6) Cleanup and construction debris was timely. Thanks! 7) The crew was OK with our two dogs. I think our doggies missed them when the jobs were done. Final note: The sign of a great contractor is NOT that nothing goes wrong. Rather it is how the contractor responds when something does go wrong. In this regard, KBS took care of problems I was not even aware of, and when I was, they swarmed to make it right ASAP. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. No hassles or haggles about responsibility or cost. Perfect. I've a few more impressive examples. So the more work we observed, the more confident we became in KBS. In my life "trust" is earned and hard to achieve in the contracting world. So, it is with pleasure to say KBS was trusted. We'd hire them again whenever we have a future need. Simply excellent!

He helped us redesign our first floor (including kitchen and bathroom), meeting with us multiple times to come up with a design that worked for our needs. He helped us figure out what materials and design elements worked for our home, really going above and beyond to help us make a lot of decisions. His experience meant that he was able to take our vision of what we wanted our home to be and turn it into reality. The actual project itself could not have gone better. The crew was phenomenal. This contractor did not perform workmanlike work, please see pictures. Contractor damaged our home and did not repair. Contractor also failed to follow the contract, for instance, the installed ridge vent was not installed according to manufacturer specifications, the vent was not cut. Contractor also is demanding payment of late fees and the contract has no language for late fees.

Zufar also recommended a cabinet company that was able to provide custom wood cabinets at far less than the cabinets I had been looking at..I felt like this company wanted to do a good job and not upsell me on more than I wanted/ could afford. They tore out abs disposed of existing cabinets and appliances, installed new flooring, lights, repainted everything, installed a tile backsplash, the cabinets, and all new appliances. Even when things went awry, they remained calm and solved the problems. They worked hard to stay on schedule and deliver a beautiful kitchen. They will be my first call next time I need any work done.

Now, she put together a plan to minimize the water flooding our backyard and ruining our grass so that we'll have more privacy and NO maintenance for our lawn and foliage. It included installing schip laurel trees that would spread across our back fence to provide privacy. She also installed - or shall I say her workers installed - a groundcover that was to spread across and keep weeds out. She said all we had to do was apply Preen each season, which we did religiously. Unfortunately, the ground cover was overtaken by weeds each of the past two summers and takes hours upon hours of weeding since we cannot mow over it all. The attached photo is just a tiny fraction of the weeds I pulled this mornin Two of the trees drowned within a year. Her team replaced them and now they've drowned again. We did have record rain over the past year. Linda did say even though it has been over a year since the install that she'd replace the trees with a more hardy variety that can withstand the water and revert our lawn back to grass, it has been two months since we discussed that and we're still waiting for it to happen. She cited that part of the delay was that they were really behind between all the rain we've had and a stall in getting her non-U.S. visa workers lined up. It took a long time, but Linda's team came back last year to replace the trees and they are finally flourishing!

We used Village Gardens twice. Once, to create a hardscape flower bed and garden for our front…read moreyard. And then again the following year, to plant bushes along the side of our house as well as a potted evergreen for our deck. The hardscaping came out beautiful; however, when we noticed it starting to crack, Linda Luke and her crew manager kept putting blame on us and then began ignoring my calls and emails. So I went to a local stone store to ask for their opinion and they said the crack was caused due to a lack of drainage. VG did not create proper drainage options for the hardscaped flower bed, causing the stone to crack. We are now left with a dilemma of either leaving the 7' crack as is or spending over $1000 to have the other stone company fix it properly...all because Linda would not take ownership of their work. In addition, our potted evergreen began losing it needles immediately and, once again, they did not take ownership of the issue and continued to ignore our complaints. Bottom line: Be aware, guaranteed work doesn't mean follow through and customer satisfaction.
