Let me start by saying Dulin's does quality work, and the staff, particularly Ann have always been friendly to both me and my late father. I've never had any kind of issue there with a repair they've done.
That said, they play very fast and loose about actually getting permission to do work before starting it. This has happened to me multiple times. Some of them were little repairs to bring my car into compliance for inspection. Piddly, for sure, but it sticks in my craw a little bit to have to pay 20 bucks in labor to have a license plate light installed when I could literally stop by the Advance Auto up the street and pick up a light and install it myself in under a minute.
Most recently, I had four tires installed on my car after some damage due to running over sharp objects. Ann called me to let me know that all four would need to be replaced and asked me if I wanted the wheels aligned as well, mentioning that an aligment check was free and agreeing to let me know if it needed it before starting work.
I never heard back regarding the alignment, so I assumed that it was OK, but lo and behold, when I went to pick up the car, I was informed the aligment had been done and was presented a bill that included a $90 for the service. While this is not hugely more than other local shops would charge, so I agreed to pay, I was pretty miffed. Doing unauthorized labor like this is not only unethical, it's also illegal. I hope they can get this kind of
behavior under control, as I'll be looking for a new shop if things don't change.
Long story short: quality work, questionable business practices. If you do choose to use them, make sure to let them know beforehand that you won't authorize any repairs without them contacting you first, and that you won't pay for any work you haven't explicitly approved. read more
