The menu is perfect if you're dining with friends because there are so many things to share. We ordered the traditional sampler, and it was such a fun way to try several Guatemalan dishes. Every plate that came out looked fresh, colorful, and made with care. The cheese pupusa was delicious, and the cotija cheese was the perfect finishing touch. Then there were the plantains. I actually stopped our server to ask, "Do y'all make the plantains from scratch?" They do. And it shows. They were fresh, perfectly cooked, and so good that I kept reaching for another one. Honestly, they may have been my favorite thing on the table. The steak was cooked exactly medium, had a great char, and was full of flavor. Portions were generous across the board, which is always a win because leftovers are basically tomorrow's gift to yourself. The spinach artichoke dip surprised me. If you're someone who genuinely loves spinach, you'll probably be very happy because spinach definitely got top billing in that relationship. It tasted incredibly fresh, and it made me realize I apparently prefer my artichokes to be just a little more competitive. The service was warm and welcoming all evening. I ordered a red sangria that never quite found its way to the table, but honestly, by the end of the meal I was so full that my stomach had already voted "maybe next time." One of my favorite parts of the evening was learning more about San Martín's history. Knowing it began in Guatemala and is especially known for its bakery and breakfast immediately put breakfast on my "I need to come back for this" list. By the end of the meal, we were full, happy, and already talking about what we'd order next time. That's usually the sign of a restaurant I'll happily recommend. Beautiful atmosphere. Fresh food.
