If you're looking for a restaurant where the atmosphere is just as enjoyable as the food, San…read moreMartín is absolutely worth a visit. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful everything is. The décor is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. And yes...those are real trees. That actually matters to me. I love restaurants with a beautiful aesthetic because it makes the whole experience feel special. Good food is wonderful, but good food in a beautiful space? That's even better. The menu is perfect if you're dining with friends because there are so many things to share. We ordered the traditional sampler, and it was such a fun way to try several Guatemalan dishes. Every plate that came out looked fresh, colorful, and made with care. The cheese pupusa was delicious, and the cotija cheese was the perfect finishing touch. Then there were the plantains. I actually stopped our server to ask, "Do y'all make the plantains from scratch?" They do. And it shows. They were fresh, perfectly cooked, and so good that I kept reaching for another one. Honestly, they may have been my favorite thing on the table. The steak was cooked exactly medium, had a great char, and was full of flavor. Portions were generous across the board, which is always a win because leftovers are basically tomorrow's gift to yourself. The spinach artichoke dip surprised me. If you're someone who genuinely loves spinach, you'll probably be very happy because spinach definitely got top billing in that relationship. It tasted incredibly fresh, and it made me realize I apparently prefer my artichokes to be just a little more competitive. The service was warm and welcoming all evening. I ordered a red sangria that never quite found its way to the table, but honestly, by the end of the meal I was so full that my stomach had already voted "maybe next time." One of my favorite parts of the evening was learning more about San Martín's history. Knowing it began in Guatemala and is especially known for its bakery and breakfast immediately put breakfast on my "I need to come back for this" list. By the end of the meal, we were full, happy, and already talking about what we'd order next time. That's usually the sign of a restaurant I'll happily recommend. Beautiful atmosphere. Fresh food. Generous portions. Outstanding plantains. I'd give San Martín a solid 9 out of 10, and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

I absolutely LOVE San Martin and I honestly do not know why I have yet to come back sooner!…read more I recently popped back into San martin after not being there for a while, and OMG! I was instantly reminded why it is such a Dallas GEM! I did not pop in to eat this time, but to find a nice spot to work with a friend on our laptops and yap over a coffee! And while we weren't planning to do much, the experience was still a 10/10! I ended up ordering a White Chocolate latte and it was AMAZING! You can tell they actually put time and effort into their coffee and lattes! Everything is also brewed fresh! Which I love! My friend ordered a artesian hot chocolate and wow! It was probably some of the best hot chocolate I have ever had! It was def made with real cocoa! We did end up splurging on some pastries, because DUH! It's it so hard to ignore the bakery section when it is so stunning and filled with beautiful baked goods! I got a oreo croissant and tortuga concha! I did not eat them (My bf did) but they looked so great! I did try my friends banana custard filled bread and that was great! I would go back for it! Overall, we ended up sitting inside of their beautiful space for hours, just talking and catching up! It was amazing and comfy! We def want to return for some of their dinner and drink specials too! Highly recommend!

I was always greeted immediately upon walking in and the staff was very nice and helped me with placing takeout orders. Service was always fast, and the food was so good. Over the days, I ordered a Ham&Cheese, Reuben, Club, and Patty Melt. The Reuben was my absolute favorite. I liked that the corned beef and pastrami was not too salty. The rye? bread that was used was sooo soft and fluffy which is what made this place memorable to me. Side pickle was also crunchy and tasty and I liked the potato salad! Thank you for making my court days a little bit better. I'm glad there are other locations so I don't need to return downtown to get a great sandwich again!

Heading towards Dallas, I asked Mrs. K. if she wanted proper smoked salmon for breakfast and she was all in. As we're in the area for the Sixth Floor museum, this was an easy stop once we found and paid for parking. A small storefront with a large dining room that is decorated with some New York themed photos, we seated ourselves and a waitress brought over menus followed by coffee. We placed our orders and about ten minutes later, breakfast arrived. Mrs. K.'s platter included a good portion of thin sliced salmon along with ALL of the fixings including capers, cucumber, tomato, red onion and cream cheese. The toasted everything bagel was very good but not quite "New York style" perfection. Hey, it's Texas. You get to slide. My nova, eggs and onion plate was excellent with a huge portion of home fries. Cooked properly and with plenty of salmon mixed in, I enjoyed it very much. The biscuits were excellent, the gravy was a little thin on sausage but still tasty. Five stars because it's great service and great food. This is as close to New York style as you'll get when you're 1400 miles from Brooklyn. [Review 394 of 2026 - 709 in Texas - 25578 overall]
