So we, ok...I was starving on our way home from Lincoln doctor appointment. I looked up "Best Breakfast" on Yelp and up came this diner. My husband wasn't so sure because he lived in Olivehurst many, many, many moons ago. But the pictures and reviews looked promising. So we stopped there to eat and boy was I surprised. I asked about the corned beef hash (it's from a can) and their chicken fried steak (not made in house). I ordered one of my favorites, the chicken fried steak breakfast. I have to say it was delicious. The fried potatoes as a side, were fabulous. Cooked to perfection. The biscuits and gravy were wonderful. Biscuits should be called pillows as they were so fluffy and yummy. Husband had a glass if Pepsi and it was perfect. Not too syrupy. My only complaint, if you could call it that, was the coffee. It was a tad on the weak side. But the server was very sweet and kept my cup full and hot. This little country diner was a great surprise and I highly recommend people to try it. I would have to say this is no place to write home about. I ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns. The eggs and hash browns was barely warm. The gravy that was over the chicken fried steak did not have good flavor. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. He said they was not good and the biscuits hard. The waitress only came by to take our order then to bring us our food. She never came back to check on us or to see if everything was alright. For what we got it was not a good deal. This is my favorite neighborhood breakfast/lunch spot! My favorite breakfasts are the "Dave Haggard's Way" or "Mary Jane Special" with an egg on top! I love that they have mickey mouse pancakes for my nieces too! For lunch, their patty melt is great and their chilli is downright THE BEST. Staff are great too. This place is a hidden gem. Food was good, service was fast and friendly, and prices were great. The power went out during our visit due to balloons in the power line and I was super impressed with how well they handled it. I think you have to be a regular here to enjoy the "really good food and great service." Went in there with my mom on a recommendation and felt like we were trespassing. Nice little diner. Has an older feel to it. I l feel like I'm living in the 70's or 80s when i eat here. Friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is awesome. For the most part, I only have breakfast here and IHOP. I get similar orders at both restaurants and the quality of food is much better here and a bit cheaper. Full from a great breakfast! I had ordered the #4 which comes with eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, and toast or biscuits/ gravy. It's a huge breakbeat for me, I ate all except for one piece of bacon, and one egg. They have a great selection of tea, which I love. Saw an old teacher from Yuba Gardens Mr. Keiser (forgive me if I had spelled his name wrong.) Loved listening to the elders talking about the old days.
