Having worked for 30+ years in the Huntington area I knew of the LONG time store for shades just West of the intersection of #25 & #110 and actually found something that 'worked' but it was a bit too 'modern' for the style of this antique lamp. He did have some very lovely old fashioned shades, w'fringe & embroidery that were very beautiful but a bit too 'much' for my taste! Thinking I wasn't going to find the 'tailored' but 'old fashioned' look I wanted I purchased the shade from the well stocked place @ the top of #110. Since I had looked for other 'lamp shade' places here on Yelp & phoned 'Tomlin' before leaving home, and the man had been so helpful on the phone & it was on the way home I figured I might as well stop there also. I am so glad I did! Perfect shade for my lamp, 'old' looking but not 'boudoir-ish'! I had been unable to find an antique brass satin finish chain & fittings for a found on the curb on trash day 'Tiffany like' chandelier that I had looked high & low to match @ the 'usual' places w'no luck. I mentioned it & low & behold a few trips to the back & he came up w'all the parts I needed! One of the nicest & accommodating store owners I have EVER met! THANK YOU Sir! In this day of 'mass produced', while seemingly ever increasingly cost & uncaring store owners, Tomlin Lighting is a REAL find & a ONE stop store for ALL your lighting needs! Only bad part of day was I had to drive back to Huntington & explain to the first 'shade' shop owner why I needed to return his shade!

Our contractor referred us to come here on Central Ave in Yonkers because of their reputation, quality and variety. Lights on Design was like a crisp breath of fresh air when we stopped in here. Main floor is mostly crystal grand chandeliers, attractive contemporary style lights, some 1960s-inspired and more. And, if you're on their website, you can shop by style, fixture type and browse through some of their inspiration gallery photos. Paula was a doll, showed us the upstairs filled with mostly pendant lighting, floor lamps and some smaller chandeliers. Since so much has changed in lighting trend, getting rid of our wrought iron dining area chandelier had to happen as well- especially since it has a country-chicish look I don't like anymore in my home. There's another lighting store on Central Avenue which we could've gone to- but based on reviews, so glad this place came out on top. Owner Glenn, was helpful, patient and friendly. Even when hubs and I didn't find what we wanted on their website, Paula helped locate it in their paper catalog. I loved how she gave us expert advice on how to choose fixtures and even determined which size was best for our space. She was our lighting whisperer.

Additional quotes were requested for installation of an outlet on a kitchen island. Jason also suggested we upgrade our electrical panel from 100amp to 200amp. Quotes were provided and we decided to only do the garage work. Scheduled start Monday morning. On Sunday evening I decided to install a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms but there's not fixture there. Jason responded quickly and after discussing, said they could get it done on the same day. John and his apprentice showed up at the earlier portion of the promised time. John checked out the garage and the bedroom along with the attic access, laid out for me what they were going to do, and got to work. The work was absolutely professional. They were courteous and informative and no nonsense. I will definitely be calling on Big Sky Electric for the projects that I put off. You can trust this company with your home electrical work.

A lovely staff member named Dara helped me, could not be more friendly, professional & attentive to my wants for this house, she saw my vision and helped me fulfill my dreams for every room of the house. Everyone is busy nowadays, but her calling me about my order and helping me obtain my items in a timely fashion was so helpful. Many workers nowadays see you there, and ignore you if on the phone, Dara cuts her call off, to help customers who come in seeking assistance. This all happened in recent months, but even today, I went in looking for a new lighting fixture to go over my dining room table and there was Dara, working hard. She cut off her phone call to stop everything to help me find what I was looking for, in a timely manner. It took all of 10-15 min. to find one I liked and when the one I liked was too pricey for me, she offered me the floor model, which was much more affordable, and I bought it! So happy with this store & the customer service :)
