It's odd to review a hospital but we've been here several times just this year. The first time was…read morefor outpatient surgery, and everything was efficient and professional. The second time was for a CT scan for my wife, and that was relatively quick, even though it was a very long distance from the front entrance. I guess there is a side entrance for outpatient services but nobody mentioned that to us. The third time was an ER visit for my wife. Upon checking in, they got her vitals but then it was several hours before we were called back. The PA who saw us was very professional, but it was odd to have so many different nurses and techs provide services from IV, to x-ray, to labs. They were professional, but again I'm not a fan of so much waiting around. Also, the treatment area was not private at all, basically hospital beds and chairs separated by curtains. We could hear the details of the patients all around us and I suppose they could hear us. More privacy would be appreciated.

I was at this facility in March 2026 for rehab after a broken ankle. The physical and occupational…read moretherapists are top notch. The environment, however, is closer to a nursing home. Shared room with shared bathroom, little privacy, often difficult to sleep and awakened at 5:30 am to make sure the night shift can get patients ready for therapy before the day shift arrives. Food generally not good; some residents order food delivered. Administrator was rude at check in after not explaining all of the facility policies to me. Discharge planner referred me to a home health agency, Amedysis, that is not in the UNC system, which is odd for a UNC hospital. This agency apparently cannot access my doctors' records re: my rehabilitation goals through UNC MyChart. If you are a UNC patient, ask lots of questions before agreeing to referral to Amedysis.

My brother was in apex for almost a year and all I can say is that they really helped me so much…read more Kathleen the supervisor nurse is amazing and Annmarie the social worker I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have them helping me though a very lengthy process trying to get him better to be out on his own. Both Kathleen and Annmarie both need to be acknowledged in this review. All I can say is Apex is very lucky to have two employees that care so much about their patients.

I very strongly do NOT recommend Karen Saylor NP. I feel I received near malpractice level care…read morefrom her. Her lack of attention to details of my health issues and concerns as she treated me over the past year was appalling. She put me on an extremely high toxic dose of T3 thyroid medicine that has made me extremely ill. I was never informed of what to watch for in the way of reactions (to this med or any of the many supplements she had me take). There is another Yelp review where the same thing was done to another patient. I also received almost no guidance or support in the process of tapering off the meds. I had to pay $25 to ask medical questions. Her answers were always to suggest something I was already taking or something I had already told her I couldn't take as if my chart wasn't even checked. I did not find her care 'integrative'. There was no talk of mind, spirit, or nervous system regulation. No checking with symptoms. Everything was based on $$$$ in labs which were treated with $$$$ in supplements. Her focus was pushing energy when what my system needed was gentle support and nurture.

Front desk reception were devoid of emotion. Not the best front line of representation. They may as well had been robots. Once in a observation room, I received Really good/professional service. Be careful when parking and try to park far away from others to protect your vehicle from potential damage. The security guard was super friendly. When checking in, you do so on an iPad that the front desk gives you. The front desk staff was NOT friendly at all. The 4 stars is mainly because of the nurse, who was friendly, and the PA (Jason). Jason didn't rush the visit and allowed my friend to ask as many questions as he needed to. They made the experience great and less stressful for my friend who had to get stitches removed. He wanted to give them 5 stars, BUT that parking situation and front desk experience is why a star was deducted.
