    Half a Meat Pie Burek
    Zachary D.

I've never had a a home cooked burek before, but I imagine this is damn close. The lovely ladies working the counter and the ovens were quick to greet you with a smile and to take your order. I ordered a meat burek pie to go, and I was genuinely surprised that I was in and out within 8minutes max! Burek stayed nice and hot, surviving a 30 min walk home, and it was the perfect combination of flakey and chewy goodness. Not at all too salty and quite enjoyable. I definitely plan of visiting again soon. *They also surve Burek by the slice (which is a quarter of a pie)*

This place is so tasty it is trouble! I was looking for a quick bite near Pelham Parkway and stumbled upon Dukagjini Burek on an online search. Having no clue what a burek was I proceeded to do some research and uncovered that I hadn't been doing life right as I had been depriving myself of the joys of the flakiest and tastiest of savory pastries in the Bronx. I had to correct this asap! I went on a weekday afternoon and fully reveled in the delights of burek. I really intended to get more than one slice but the burek was very filling and I couldn't make it past one. I was able to snag a table and throughly enjoyed seeing how the bureks at DB brought a really diverse group of people together. I heard Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, and English. Young and old. Locals galore. That's how you know the place is reallllly good. Fresh out the oven. Flavorful. Greasy deliciousness. Try it, you might just become a regular!

Easy and delicious! The ladies at the front are so friendly and the food is quite affordable for a quick bite. I've never had Balkan pies before but I loved my experience of it! I got a meat slice and a spinach and cheese slice, and a regular recommended the yogurt as well. The yogurt adds a fun "coolness" to the pie and lightens it up. We had a lot of fun trying this and the ladies were so helpful with choosing different slices to try!

After a day at the Bronx zoo I wanted something new and local to the area before heading back to Manhattan. This is the spot! I got a beef pie and the lady cut it in half so I can eat the rest later but it's so good I ate it all in one sitting and took the spinach home. Friendly service and A rating for cleanliness. I'll be back next time I go see the gorillas.

Very nice staff with great smiles. I ordered the meat burek. Even though I'm not Albanian, it was a very delicious and tasty meat pie that it reminded me of my mom's cooking. I'm going to be working close by for the next two weeks. Now I know where I'm getting my lunch from.

Is this a place you should drive out of your way for from another borough? Unless you love burek SO much that you're willing to pay tolls to cross bridges and brave traffic for? Probably not. Is this a place you should visit if you're in the area of close enough to it? Absolutely, yes! The thing to get here is obviously burek because that is what they sell here and the burek at Dukagjini is superb and as close to authentic as you can get outside of Albania. The burek is fresh, flaky, and delicious and the simplicity of the menu makes it easy for you choose between meat, cheese, and spinach, which are all equally good but very different from one another. I loved the ooey gooey goodness of the cheese, the flavor of the meat, and the freshness of the spinach, and as I said you can't go wrong with one, two, or all three but beware of the portions, which are generous and quite filling. The lovely people who work here are very sweet and helpful so grab yourself a slice or a pie along with an espresso or cappuccino and experience one of the best of the Balkans! Excellent spot to check out if you're in the Bronx!

Dukagjini in Pelham Gardens has gotten a lot of buzz. And because I had heard great things about it, I wanted to try my hand at it too. This no-bells-and-whistles setting has wall plaques, indoor dining and a digital overhead menu listing nothing but bureks, their plain yogurt and coffee. For me, it's all about the greens- so picking up 2 Spinach Bureks to try, had to happen. Dukagjini bureks are pimped out with a nice amount of spinach+cheese and an overwhelming dose of onions. My mom especially- liked the combination of having that phyllo golden top and the burek's doughy bottom. Service was friendly and swift. But that flaky, phyllo, buttery sheen top for me- was everything.

This place is where you go to for genuine bureks, the "Dukagjini" in the name of this restaurant is an area in Albania where the owner is from. There is no variety in their menu but that's actually the strength of this place. You can get in and out quickly faster than a typical order at your local deli while also having it hot and fresh as a result of them constantly creating burek pies for other customers and to portioning them out. The portion size is not something to be upset at despite it seeming small since it is caloric dense, making it extremely filling. With the only item made being the bureks, you do not have any other flavors masking the taste of it. Definitely a good place if you are commuting somewhere and this is on the way, as a local, or if you wanted a genuine burek.

My favorite place in the Bronx to get burek! It's always served hot and fresh. Crispy and flaky crust with delicious fillings. The ladies behind the counter are always super nice to me. This place is usually pretty busy and you can always see customers carrying out boxes and boxes of burek pies - because they are the best of the best!

Drove from Florida and I had the chance to try Dukagjini Burek. Super pie, delicious, like homemade burek! Loved it until last bite. And homemade albanian yogurt. Great service! Strongly recommend this to all my friends that luckily lives in this area.

The meat inside the meat burek is flavorful, not dry like some other meat burek that we've tried in the past.

In a part of Morris Park that's changed, Conti's is a great asset. My constructive criticism on Conti's. I ordered 2 cakes online. Paid in full for both last week. They gave me a pickup window 9AM. I show up early & there's a big line. I ask a worker & she says there's 1 line. She states there's 1 line for picking up a cake paid in full, ordering a new cake, getting coffee, getting pastries. Guys NO GOOD! Why pay in full & order a week prior? You should have 2/3 lines. 1 line picking up cakes paid in full only. 1 bread line only. 1 line for new orders. I remember when Conties would price the specialty cheesecakes to $30-$35 max. a 12inch pistatchio cheesecake is $46???? i know for a fact the employees dont get paid enough for the price of a cheesecake to increase that dramatically. one of the girls said the pies/cakes are made a week before they're sold, so the price on soon to expire pastries is insane. for $46 dollars I can get a larger and better quality cheesecake in Manhattan. The ladies behind the counter look unhappy and find every request to be inconvenient. this place is definitely ripping you off. UPDATE: I opened the box of cookies for my friend, she reached for the first cookie and as soon as she took a bite, she pulled out a blond hair from the cookie. $22 dollars for cookies full of hair.
