Duffy's is THE best! My friend and I went after the person at the hotel front desk recommended it. We were not disappointed and went back at least three times during our trip. The service is 10/10 with such kind and friendly staff. The vibe of the restaurant is relaxed, welcoming, and fun. Sometimes there is live music playing but even when there's not the view of the ocean from the restaurant is more than enough entertainment. For a pretty casual restaurant the food was not what I expected. It exceeded expectations and each dish my friend and I had was 10/10. The food is well seasoned and super fresh. 5 Stars for the bartenders and drink options, 2.5 stars for food. We came here multiple times on our trip for drinks and had a few snacks along the way. They have happy hour specials and some good beer options. Draft beer seemed very rare on the island but Duffy's did have one on tap. The bartenders were very friendly and quick. The food is mediocre bar food. The nachos are topped with Velveeta-like cheese but the serving was pretty large. The grilled wahoo sandwich was a bit on the overdone side but the fried grouper was tender. The sandwiches are claimed to be served on brioche buns which actually turned out to just be your typical hamburger buns. Would recommend the fried grouper sandwich or basket. I'm sure the fish tacos are also decent. read more

But beyond that the meal fell flat. While there was nothing wrong with the food I was eating, either in preparation or flavor, there also was not any "wow" factor. We had a complete blast at Duffy's. They were able to easily accommodate my sister being GF and she had her fav meal of the trip here (ahi tune crusted with sesame). I had some great fish tacos. The drinks were really really good and the staff was kind, helpful, and memorable. We had a seat right by the street to people watch and a Christmas parade went by as we were there (VW bugs and buses with lights and decorations!! Of the 3 restaurants open during our short stay (all along the main strip) Duffys was probably our favorite. Great view, our waiter Joe was super fun and the food was good. Woulda given it 5 stars had the portions been a little bigger. My fave is probably the canoa (sweet plantain stuffed with chicken and fresh pico) and the hush puppies (fried cornbread stuffed with cheese and jalapeños- we took some along for a beach picnic). We also rly enjoyed their cold brew and crab cakes (again just a super small portion) everything tasted fresh and was seasoned well. Before heading to a biobay tour, I stopped here for dinner upon a recommendation from my taxi driver. The place had a good crowd. It was a seat yourself place so I picked a spot. It was a bit of waiting before someone came with menus. I was introduced to the specials and the lobster, described as caught that day, won me over. The lobster comes out fairly quickly. It's gianormous! They grilled it, but for a bit too long so the meat curled up a bit and was tougher. A bit shameful. The lobster taste was also overshadowed by the char. It was lobster, so I couldn't let it go to waste. The meal came with beans (which really more liquid than anything else) and fried plantains (okay, good salt profile). The rice on the side had a good buttery flavor. At $24, it was fairly reasonable and a lot of food. I was more disappointed by the overcooked lobster. Also, no crackers or tiny fork were provided. It was a bit difficult to get some of the meat with a regular fork. Service was fine, but slow. I drank all my water and the waitress noticed and was going to give me a refill, but she never returned with one. At this point, it's getting close to my tour time and I ask for the check. Closing out also was a process. I arrived at 6:10 and didn't close out until 7:25. Luckily, the tour meeting point was across the street. read more

My girlfriend and I are staying in one of the rooms above Duffys. We stopped in for an early dinner. We order the fried calamari and it was great with the Thai chili sauce they had with it. I ordered the fish tacos with fried mahi mahi and it was unbelievably amazing. The mixed drinks were ok but the atmosphere was great. The bartenders were all super nice and engaging. We visited Duffys at the suggestion of our property manager and we were so happy we did. Both our food and service was great. I ordered the red snapper with rice and beans and it was absolutely delish. So much so that we went back the next day but they were out. The drinks here were also pretty tasty. Red Snapper was cooked tender, plate comes with plantains, rice, and beans = $20. Fried calamari comes with a sweet sauce that is to die for, so yumm! = $10. Chicken nachos were good too = $13 Conch fritter also come with a sweet sauce and were delicious = $10 My favorite, however, was a drink, the Limon Da Coconut, I had it twice one night with my dinner. I initially was disappointed with the cold brew coffee they served. Literally 1oz of coffee in a cup stacked with ice. Not what I expect when I order a coffee. The waitress understood and gave me some extra which made up for it. But why try to get away with that and charge a customer? The snapper was very good. Tostones and rice and beans were great. We headed down from out guest house to the main strip and decided that Duffy's seemed like the perfect place before our BioBay tour. We settled in little before sunset and were treated to the most amazing sunset views. We ordered pretty quickly and took in the atmosphere. It has a bit more of a kid friendly beach bar vibe. Like almost all the restaurants in Esperanza the views of the water are stunning. I ordered just a burger and fries, my girlfriend ordered a salad with fresh grilled fish on top. Our service was great and super friendly. Food came pretty quickly giving us enough time to enjoy our meal and still have plenty of time before our tour. My burger was so delicious, perfectly cooked and the bun tasted really fresh and was so fluffy. The salad looked amazing, I had a few bites of the fish and it was so good! The evening we went they were giving a portion of their profits to one of the local animal rescue centers on the island, it made our meal just a little bit better. We probably ate here 5 times in the week we were in town. The people who work here are very friendly and it felt like we were visiting people we knew when we came back each time. The food was also darn good. I loved the double double in particular. Lobster was a little overdone though.
