Chris and his team just completed a 5 day job on my new [to me] home with original hardwood... possibly the original 1930's wax polish... in a 1400sf colonial. The price quote was competitive. They started when they said they would. When the job proved harder than originally estimated, they put in overtime to stay on schedule for the painters and our move. The floors look terrific! I spoke with Chris on the phone and WOW what a knowledgable and nice guy. I live in Chicago and I have Brazilian cherry floors. Brazilian Cherry floors are naturally red in tone. I spoke to over 10 flooring contractors in Chicago and NONE of them know how to get the red out. I did one search online and Duffy Floors comes up with a simple, short, and the to the point video showing exactly how to do them. Chris had no financial reason to talk to me as I told him I'm from Chicago. I'm very thankful for Chris Duffy for taking the time to speak with me for over 20 minutes and helping me with my problem. Incredibly rude! The person who called me back is so full of himself that he's unwilling to be polite to paying customers. Don't bother to ask him questions about his services or experience, because he'll lecture you for not having done more detailed research before picking up the phone. He's also unwilling to come by to give an estimate except in the middle of the work day, suggesting that he's only willing to do work for the independently wealthy. In short, save your time and move on to the next. It's not like you'll convince him to deign to look at your floor. read more

We found Duffy floors via a YouTube video that Chris posted about bleaching cherry floors. We have Brazilian cherry hardwood floors that were a dark, reddish tint. They were a real pain to keep clean and made the house feel too dark. Duffy came in on time and did the job in a professional, clean, and timely manner. The bleaching/pickling process really did the trick and lightened up the floors. Unfortunately, the poly was very soft and did not cure properly. Chris said that it was a reaction to the bleach in addition to the humid air conditions that caused the problem, so they came back to the house and recoated the floors with a different, harder, high traffic poly on a dry day. It looks and feels amazing. With the refinished floors and a new coat of paint on the walls, we feel like we have a new house; lighter and more open. Problems and bumps in the road often seem inevitable with projects like this, but Duffy floors and Chris Potts took care of the problem and made things right. We bought our home in the fall of 2018, a 100+ year old colonial with great bones and a lot of small projects to take care of. We had carpets in every room of the house, but hardwood floors underneath. Chris and his team at Duffy Floors were spot-on with the their quote, and went above and beyond with the repairs. Most of the hardwood was in good condition, but after taking out the rugs we found boards that needed to be replaced. They found antique pine and were able to match the quality and color of the original heart pine floors. The team was also efficient, and even though they had more work to do than they thought once the carpets were up, they still finished within the timeline they quoted to us. They did a great job sanding and refinishing my kitchen floors at the end of a kitchen remodel - worked with our schedule and price was fair. But two things bugged me. First, sealant or varnish or whatever seeped into the carpet in the next room - about a 1/2-inch of crunchiness along the edge of the carpet next to the refinished floors. Our carpet is a medium neutral color so color didn't change, so probably not a big deal. Second, there's a dent right in the middle of my brand-new jillion-dollar refrig, at just the level of the floor sander, that wasn't there before. Frank H Duffy refinished our floors (kitchen, great room, dining room, and two halls) while we were out of town. They did a great job and the 12 year old scuffed and marred floors look like new! Chris Potts of Duffy Floors is the best in the business. They recently refinished the hardwood floors in our house while we were on vacation. The floors came out beautifully and we absolutely love how they look! He and his team are perfectionists and it shows, especially in the little details. For example, in the kitchen there is a broom closet that had old black lineolium tile on the floor. My eye would immediately be drawn to the black floor whenever I opened the door because the tile didn't look quite right since the rest of the kitchen is hardwood floors. After Chris finished removing the tile he made the closet floor look as if it had always been hardwood...and it seamlessly matched the existing hardwood floor. Now whenever I open the broom closet I am reminded of Chris and the wonderful quality of workmanship of Duffy Floors! We are very proud to recommend Chris to our family and friends.
