Two other floor people whined about the engineered wood and the prefinished hardwood and how much they didn't like working with it, and Juan was like, "Ok, yeah, let's fix it up for you!" He spent time with me to figure out the color, made adjustments in the plan when we realized the risers couldn't be salvaged, and was just fabulous to work with. I've already recommended him to a friend and will have him restore my grandmother's cedar chest. One floor refinisher was almost 2x Juan's price, and one was 1.5x more, and neither were very nice. Don't hesitate to call Juan!

I actually got my brazillian cherry hardwood floor sourced and installed for about the same price as the big stores were quoting me for carpet... He's also fast. Both of my floors were installed within ~6 hours each time (~150sqft each). I can't recommend Nam enough if you're looking for a hardwood flooring install in the greater Boston area.

Their bid came in the middle of the 3 bids we received, however the low bid was only 2 coats vs Connolly who put 3 coats. Once we got over the minor issue of the quote going to my spam folder, everything went smoothly. They came on time and did their work. They repaired many damaged boards nicely, and then refinished the floors. I will ding a little on the communication at the end, their was no notification at the end when they were done, but it might be they knew when we were returning. The floors look terrific and so far have held up given the abuse of a 50lb dog and a cat. I would absolutely call Connolly Floors again.

I will start that the floors look good…read more I was verbally disrespected by this company. There was a lack of communication and timing of the entire process. In the beginning, I was not told this would be a two day job. They were late on both days of this job. The time was underestimated each day for the job. They parked illegally in a driveway, blocking two cars access to leave. They left the floors dirty and did not clean up. I wish I would have known that I could have to clean up after them, so I could have planned this additional work. They left the heater at 76 degrees for two days WITHOUT asking me. I had to rush an hour's drive just to turn off the heat. The gas bill will be very high. I was not told that my electricity would be used for this service of floor repair. I was not told that the heater would run for two days. I debated to put 3 stars for the good looking floor, but the cons outnumber the pros.

I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

We hired Duffy Wood Floors for a project, enticed by their purported family-owned ethos and extensive experience but buyer beware, Chris Potts is simply an expert salesman. He leads you to believe he is the one carrying out the work; however, day of the project, we discover it has been outsourced to local flooring contractors who barely make eye contact and struggle to communicate with you. The final outcome for 3.5k was far from satisfactory. Debris and bubbles trapped under the polyurethane marred the surface, alongside noticeable HOLES between the wood planks. They sloppily applied finish all over the baseboard. This evident rush job lacked attention to detail, evident in the neglect of basic procedures like using a tack cloth. The workers left on a mini split fan despite me asking whether it should be turned off -- they said "no, it will help with the drying". Lo and behold, it actually just spread debris everywhere. Subsequent attempts to rectify the situation necessitated additional time, as they had to come back to address the flaws, including filling the holes in the BRAND NEW WOOD with wood filler. The results were subpar and did not justify the high cost, especially considering the modest size of the room. While I anticipate a less than professional response from Chris to this review (as I've seen his responses to other legitimate negative reviews) I feel compelled to warn others about our disappointing experience with Duffy Wood Floors. As such, I strongly advise exploring alternative options for your wood flooring needs. Personally, I am redirecting my upcoming projects to a different contractor in Medford, steering clear of Duffy Flooring due to their unsatisfactory performance. read more

We have looked around for many years, but have never found a better sanding company to work with than Duffy Floors. They came to our home right away to give us a quote and worked around our schedule. Our well-worn floors are now gleaming and look brand new. There was virtually no dust left behind when they left. We have had our floors sanded by other companies in the past, and there is no comparison. We wish we had found Duffy Floors sooner. We are extremely pleased with the results. read more

Duffy Floors was recommended to me by both a neighbor and a Newton realtor, so I figured the company would be good. Chris Potts from Duffy responded quickly to my request for an estimate. What's more, he clearly and patiently explained how I could refinish my home's floors while living in the house, packed with furniture, two humans, and a dog. Turns out a buyer made an offer on my house in spite of the worn floors, but I recommend Duffy based on my excellent experience with Chris. read more

Chris is amazing. We had neglected and worn down the surface of our kitchen hardwood floors to the point where we needed to totally refinish them. Another challenge was that I have this awesome but very large, heavy storage bed. I had no idea how it could be moved out of the way even if it were disassembled. My wife and I are busy physicians at local hospitals with an 8-month old baby, so as you can imagine, we needed truly a personalized service. I was a little nervous at first as there's not much information online about the company, but am so happy with the results! ESTIMATE: I first contacted Carl via email, and sent him an architectural rendering of our home, as well as thoughts on the type of carpet we were looking for. Immediately that day, he was able to send back by email an estimate as well as a link to a carpet company's website for us to further learn about the products. We scheduled a home visit later that week (he was extremely accommodating, coming at 8pm after I got home from work) with a set of carpet samples. He precisely measured all of the rooms that needed carpeting as my baby was playing with the carpet samples, and refined the estimated price. My wife was still at work, and so I took an iPhone picture of the samples and told him that I'd get back to him with the color, however was happy with the product. Of course, when my wife came home, the iPhone picture didn't suffice, and wanted to feel and go through the carpet samples herself. SO Carl drove back to our home and dropped off the carpet samples for a couple of days so that we could take our time in making a decision. I was impressed at how there was no sales pressure whatsoever, and was completely understanding. We were finally able to make a decision on the color and product. PRICE: He's definitely not the highest priced company, and my only advice, needless to say, is to do a little homework. After doing a little bit of research, I can tell you that he is totally reasonable. QUALITY OF INSTALLATION: Carl sold us an excellent product, but can also tell you that the quality of the installation is awesome. There were some pitfalls that he warned us about ahead of time (the newer carpet is more plush and prone to crushing, the new carpet is higher, and so will create step-offs at transition points) but there absolutely were no surprises. INSTALLERS: Since my wife and I were both at work, and we basically blindly entrusted our home and valuables to Teo (the installer) and his crew. I can tell you that they were incredibly professional in their work, and incredibly respectful of our stuff. Obviously they can't place things back 100% where they came from, nor did we expect them to, but they were pretty close! On top of that, I asked them to move our television set away from the baby's play area as she's getting more mobile, and without even hesitation, when I came home that evening, I was incredibly impressed even that was done! When they left, they turned off all of the lights, locked the doors, left the key on the kitchen table for us. OVERALL: My wife and I value honesty in a person and company over anything else. We think we're pretty good judges of character, and can say that we were truly impressed by Carl and his company. His responsiveness to email, the respect of our home, quality of the product, and quality of the installation were excellent. He truly went above and beyond, has great character, and we will not hesitate to use him for all of our subsequent flooring needs!! A+

This shop fabricated the top and threshold to our specifications very quickly. We were able to see the slab beforehand at the warehouse in Avon, which was very convenient to Braintree. In addition, I was able to consult directly with one of the fabricators, Hugo, and pick up the finished materials. Hugo provided outstanding customer service. I'll be going back for materials on future jobs.
