Waltz by MJ :-)
Ellie G.

MJ was amazing to work with! We were told that by our wedding band leader that our first dance required a waltz and realized taking dance classes would be vital because we had absolutely no clue how to do the waltz. We did several lessons in the couple weeks leading up to our wedding and loved the dance that MJ choreographed for us. Our guests thought it was cute and we had fun learning it. I absolutely recommend Duet to anyone, especially engaged couples.

Fun times with friends #yesmybackissweating lol

Had an amazing time learning salsa with my fiancé last night. It was something new we tried and LOVED it!! If you've thought about trying it out, go for it. No experience needed. My fiancé has 2 left feet and the instructor Kathryn took her time to help him out. Thanks girl! We had a great date night. We will definitely be back!

I'm not shocked to see this place has a 5 star rating! They are absolutely amazing. I hosted my friend's Madonna themed bachelorette party here! I saw on their website they offered private dance classes, so I reached out & asked if they could come up with a routine that went with a Madonna song....sure enough they did. The party was absolutely perfect! They used to be in a smaller location near my apartment, but when I showed up to their new studio down the street I was BLOWN AWAY. The new studio is more private, bigger & looked amazing. Greater than what I had expected! The owner was so kind and adorable! The dance instructer was fun! They allowed us to bring our own food & booze. They played Madonna music during the party. It was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend for any bachelorette party. We almost considered going to a Cabaret show, but there would be no guarantee us girls would be sitting together. We'd have to pay extra for the Bachelorette to go on stage (where she'd still have to share the stage with other bachelorettes) PLUS we'd have to pay for drinks. Not only was it cheaper to book a private dance class with Duet, but we also had the entire studio to ourselves, we were aloud to bring our own food & booze and most importantly the bachelorette was the center of attention...she didn't have to share it with anyone else. =) I also want to mention the best part of the bachelorette party is that it was all in fun. It wasn't like some serious dance number we had to preform in front of a crowd. It was just us girls giggling and having a good time. The best part was trying to remember our routine later that night at the bar lol Such a great spot! I will absolutely be back!

Tracy there's no one else in the universe that I would rather have as my dance partner and life partner.

My favorite is 'kickin it cardio' at 6:15 am with Kate. She truly gets you sweating before seven and you just feel great and toned. I also like barre fit on Monday night, it is a great change to my typical workouts. I highly recommend checking out this place!

The teacher had the kids sign a contract about commitment, teamwork etc (cool!) my daughter took it super seriously bc she's like that. The teacher himself then proceeded to come late or not show up at class at all (no notice or group txt would even come from dovetail after the fact- we just show up and it would empty the majority of times. After months of this they gave us a $100 credit and 1 email about it. They transitioned it to a new teacher who was really dependable. They told my daughter they "thought we would place in top 10, like 6 or Better." My daughter is type of person who latches onto that so when they didn't place, she felt it more Than needed. It was clear her time at park district (McFeteridge) brought out waaaaay more talent and she grew waaaay more there and with very strong routines. Great artistry from Dovetail tho. Teachers were nice. They txtd us during paid sessions they wanted to walk the kids to 7-11 instead of class time. The other families were nice and we vibed with them- not competitive etc. did pizza with them couple times over year. my wife took a class at dovetail for adults and loved it. My daughter had classes (not completion) that went well and she really loved all the teachers.

We met…read morewith Sam for our consultation and talked her through our experience level (limited), some constraints (my husband is deaf with cochlear implants), and our expectations for what we wanted to get out of the sessions. While Sam had her work cut out for her with us, she never let her cards show and was 100% patient and kind throughout ever lesson. We ended up purchasing 8 sessions leading up to the wedding and we HIGHLY recommend Chicago Dance and Sam, specifically! The options are endless: whether you want to just learn some different dance types and be able to use those lessons to freestyle or if you want 100% choreography... Chicago Dance is the way to go. A couple highlights. 1. Sam was energetic and excited to try all kinds of new steps / tricks and she made us willing participants. She also valued our feedback and ensured that we were confident in what we were doing. She incorporated more of the steps/moves we enjoyed and flexed if we were not comfortable with anything. We laughed a lot playing around with new successful and totally unsuccessful attempts at tricks. Given our experience level, I was so impressed with her ability to articulate feedback and say the right things to make anything "complicated" seem simple and feasible! 2. We started looking forward to our dance lessons. Considering this was still in the middle of COVID, aside from dinner dates, we had not really done much in the way of date nights. We ended up loving our lessons and looking forward to these "date nights" as we were having so much fun and felt like it was driving more connection. 3. We were torn about which song to dance to. For the first two lessons, we ended up learning waltz basics and started learning choreography to one song. We were practicing at home one day and decided to try with a different song, and fell in love. Sam quickly jumped into action helping us play with the different types of dance we can incorporate into the new song. She cut the music based on my suggestions seamlessly. No joke - she provided full service.

Great instructors. Welcoming and inclusive environment. Good variety of dance types. We took…read moreclasses for our wedding first dance and it was a very good experience. Once inside you have to walk up to the second floor. Dance studio for class was big and spacious. It was one of three different studios. This space is huge. Class started with warm-up which got your blood flowing. Warmup included pushups so grab floor mat if not keen on doing them on hard wooden floor. Dance class was tough. Prior dance experience is needed. You don't have to be a professional but need to be able to pick-up choreography quick. Sometimes you will learn (2) 8 counts together and then move on very quickly. The style of dance seemed like Jazz, Theater and Pop. I liked it but I usually dance hip-hop, latin or African. It was a change of pace but Julia made it super fun. With this particular routine there was a plank portion, I skipped it because I just didn feel like it. Julia prepared me that the routine did include this in an 8 count. I just added some bodyrolls and called it a day. Most of the people in class seemed to be regulars. Everyone was friendly. After 44 mins of dancing, we finished with some toning that included an arm song. After putting light weights down, Julia stretched us to the max. THANK GOODNESS I would come back and groove some more. I honestly just wanted to delay working on a memo so thats why I signed up on Class Pass at last minute.

Great teachers for the most part, but very little focus on technique. My girls had fun but didn't…read morelearn very much.

It may not be as big as bigger cities (LA, NY) but I'm glad they had one. Here was my experience here. AMBIANCE: It's in more of a suburban area of Chicago. Relatively close (15 minutes) away from the airport and from downtown. The place itself is on the 2nd floor of a building. It seems like a pretty historic brick building with a spacious layout. The layout is basically one big floor to dance on with ceiling lights and string lights to bright up the place. The class consisted of a lot of talented 40+ which was cool as they had a lot of knowledge to share. The size is great for group practices and socials. Parking - Pretty much just street parking. Customer Service - Awesome! My instructor was Dawn Lara and she was great! Knowledgeable and friendly. I felt pretty welcomed in this place. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. I had a great experience here! The instructors were awesome and my classmates were pretty fun. One of the main things for me was always feeling will people be condescending and whatnot, but the vibes were pretty welcoming here.
