We had a wonderful dining last evening with her best friends. Despite the cold rainy night, we went out to this lovely Italian restaurant.. Greeted warmly and seated promptly about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Almost immediately we had warm bread on the table followed by a warm greeting from our server. We ordered drinks and a clams casino appetizer. The wine selection, while limited, still met our needs. For our entrees, my companions had seafood while I enjoyed an out of this world bone in pork chop scarpariello. The chop was done to perfection. The lemon juice, parsley and salt provided excellent flavoring. Of course the Italian sausage was also done to perfection. I should mention that the pre entree salads were perfect with crumbled blue cheese dressing. My companions also raved about their entrees. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. The piano player added a nice touch without being intrusive. Food is average at best and so expensive. Every entree only comes with the meat and all salads and pasta sides are additional which for an Italian restaurant is absolutely absurd. There are zero interesting dishes on the menu, it's the most basic of options. The worst part of all is this place is NOT kid friendly what so ever. No kids menu, minimal space for high chairs. We came with a reservation and told them a high chair was needed prior and when we arrived it was clear that the high chair was an issue for them. Theres a million other better Italian restaurants to go to besides this place that are willing to accommodate children and have much better food at a better price. Thank god we went with a gift card because if I had to pay my own money for that terrible of a meal I would have been very disappointed. I really liked our experience here! At first, I thought it was pricy, but once the food came out and I realized how large the portions were I understood the pricing. We all ordered our own meals which come with a salad, but I recommend ordering for the table and sharing so you can try much more. I got the flounder franchise which was amazing and super lemony. It came with a starter salad and I chose to add bleu cheese for $2 extra and house dressing. My sister got the pesto gnocchi which I ended up eating a lot of because it was so good. Not sure if you can tell from the photos, but I had to take home half my food because of how big the portion was. The only thing I didn't like about the restaurant was how packed together the tables were. It was hard to even get by to go to the bathroom. read more

I lived in NJ all of my life, but never had the privilege to dine at this great restaurant. I had come back from my home HI to visit with my loved ones for several weeks. The ladies in my Bible study brought me to this great establishment to celebrate my homecoming. It did NOT disappoint. The food was the absolute best even though I had some challenging food restrictions, they accommodated me without hesitation. The service was amazing from the server to all who helped him! First off it was my husband's birthday we made the reservation 3 weeks in advance. We had a 5:30 reservation at 6:30 we still had nothing but our first drinks. My husband was seated next to the kitchen door. Every time it opened he got smacked in the back. At 7pm we asked for dinner... we were told this is an Italian restaurant what do you expect my husband takes aspirin. We love a good night out but an hour and a half and not even a appetizer we were hungry and agitated after the door smacking and loud screaming what do you do. Very disappointing as this was a place we frequented for years. We sat at the bar this evening and were not offered the standard salad that comes with the meal, or at lest used to since we've been going there for the last 15 years. App was ok, dinner was ok at best. Chicken parm was not pounded thin and I could make it at home much better. They charged $6.00 each for a side of pasta that used to come with the meal standard and was gross. We have no problem paying if it's good. Complete joke!! So upsetting to say the least!!! read more

Friendly greeting from the hostess. No reservation on our part because it was 5PM, weekday, pre summer crowds. Sheila our server introduced herself and took our drink orders. She mentioned the daily specials all tempting. I settled on two appetizers: ahi tuna delicious and the cold antipasto for two I shared with my wife. Arrived last night for our outside parking lot dinner overlooking two dumpsters - nice odor. Our waiter Josh - not attentive and not a good listener - my wife ordered White Linguine w/clams and asked for extra garlic - arrived - NO Garlic and minimal clams (2) - do you think they could have at least had 4? Asked for more bread - but no butter delivered, actually bread basket was thrown on the table... We ordered a $48 bottle of wine - do you think that Josh could have at least poured our wine once or maybe twice? We enjoyed sitting in pre-darkness as all of the other tables had tents w/lights and we did not - the forgotten table in the back near the dumpsters... Too many other fine restaurants in the area - skip this one. read more

We arrived at our reservation time, but had to wait outside for about :20 before our table was ready. If you want to have a conversation do not come here. Very very loud. So loud that we could not hear the piano player. Plenty of room at our table and warm bread was brought quickly. Service is average as specials were not offered until asked and water glasses were not refilled. Food came to the table without knowing who ordered what. I don't expect that for a $75 per diner cost, which was low as we didn't order appetizers or dessert. Food was good as I had the ribeye special with others ordering fish specials. So everyone has a different version of what they like in Italian food I personally liked this place It was fresh and nice specials The atmosphere here is a ZERO the bar is small The restaurant is dark The food is great but I wouldn't go back just based that I'm a summer resident only and I don't like how dark it is and seems that it's the same customers type of place The Wednesday night free meatballs and 6$ martinis are nice if you can grab a seat at the bar But I don't go to a place based on a special But they were delicious meatballs with a knock your socks off sauce, not sweet My pasta cooked in a mushroom sauce with shrimp was great The bread when you sit down is the best!!! This will be my 3rd time dining here and I must say I'm torn writing this review. The food is always delicious, the quality of the seafood is incredible, and the waitstaff rivals other fine restaurants. On the other hand, the parking situation on that street is always a hassle (because their lot is full each time), the noise level in the dining room is sometime too loud of handle, and the cocktails were consistently too strong and seemed to be mixed in a rush. I would recommend coming here either for a late afternoon/early dinner before the evening crowd, or after the Summer season when things settle down again. read more

After a few more visits to Due Amici recently and really enjoying both the food and excellent bar service I'm upgrading their rating to (4) stars. Maybe it's the kinda place that just grows on you or just perhaps I missed the boat in the past but this place is solid. Extensive menu with huge portions - you will often see dinners sharing a main course. But, the real treat is that they will go out of their way and make you a dish you desire that is not on the menu. Came here for my birthday with my family. Delicious food! I'm not sure if the gentleman in the front was the owner or manager but he sat us alone so my husband and I could be with our baby around no one else which was very thoughtful. Celebrated my husbands birthday last Sunday and first time coming here because my son highly recommended it. The waiter Michael was so friendly and brought out all our food on a timely manner. Food was spectacular, fresh and delicious. Escargot was the best I've ever had. Not gummy or chewy and cooked to perfection. I had the shrimp fra diavolo and pastsa was cooked perfect al dente and sauce had just the right amount of heat. My husband had the steak oreganato and it was delicious and tender. And I also recommend the steak arrabbiata that my son in law had. That had a nice kick to it and very tender. The dessert were fresh and unbelievable. I tasted the cappuccino tartufo which was awesome and the lemocello cake that was to die for. So moist and and creamy. Last thing I tried was the molten lava cake which is one of my favorite dessert.
