I had a business dinner with my staff. The service was fantastic and the food was fabulous

As last night was our first time here, we decided to arrive an hour earlier than our reservation to check out the bar. Upon arrival, there was only one parking space left in the very small lot. Good thing we arrived shortly after they opened as the small bar was full within minutes after we arrived. We were easily the youngest patrons at the bar by at least a decade. Regardless, the octogenarians were all having a good time. It is a very lively room. The friendly bartender promptly greeted us and made perfect cocktails in short order. However, the Prosecco could have been colder. While waiting for our friends to join us, we perused the lengthy menu and wine list as well as noticed the awesome seafood being served at the bar. The bar remained packed as diners started filling the dining room. Immediately we noticed the noise volume increase. it is a small place with low ceilings and the lively bar scene and jovial dining customers make it very loud. When our friends arrived we were promptly seated near a corner by the fireplace where the noise was somewhat subdued. although noisy, we were all able to hear each other throughout the evening in spite of the ever increasing volume. Had we been seated in the middle of the dining room, I don't think we would have been able to hear each other. Our server Alex told us of the menu additions and promptly took our drinks orders. Pace was perfect and his service was very attentive. Relaxed and friendly. We enjoyed our conversations over drinks and eventually we placed our food orders and ordered another bottle of wine to be served with dinner. The first bottle was warm even after being in an ice bucket. Alex iced the second one down so it arrived proper temperature with our entrees. After taking our dinner orders fresh bread and olive oil (EVOO) were brought to the table. the appetizers came a few minutes later. Calamari was perfectly fried. Not over cooked. Nice marinara and good assortment of rings and tentacles (my fav). Ahi tuna perfectly seared and rare. Mushrooms tasty but a little too much zip for me. The girls had generous portions of perfectly cooked scallops and the men had decent portions of broiled swordfish. A little too salty for me. We spilt the outstanding pistacchio tartuffo and a very mediocre "home made" tiramisu. Espresso was perfecto. We paid with cash and Alex subsequently noticed the credit card fee was erroneously added to the bill. Which he prompted returned. We had a very enjoyable evening. Perfect pace. Decent food. Excellent service. The noise level in the dining room would probably keep us from returning. Maybe just sit and eat at the bar with the old farts next time. ;) Ciao. read more

I can't say more than this night out was wonderful. We had a reservation for 7;30 for 4. Arrived a bit early and they were able to accommodate us in a great location so we were able to have a clear and comfortable conversation. Our waiter, Alex, did a fine job helping us out from the start of drinks to the end of our meal. We started out with drinks and 2 appetizers, fried calamari served with a mild and hot sauce and clams oreganato. Both were made to perfection and actually came out hot. We ordered linguini with clam sauce, shrimp fra diavolo, (scallops and bronzeine - off the specials). Everything came together and was served hot. When we sat down, my husband asked if Bobby, one of the owners was in. Last year while sitting at the inlet of Manasquan, we bumped into Bobby and he said we should come to the restaurant. Unfortunately he was not in last night so we left a message. The next day, my husband received a personal call from Bobby. They chatted a bit and we thanked him for a lovely dinner and that we would be back. The ambiance was friendly along with a piano player. The music was very soothing to the ear and not too loud. We had a fantastic dinner and cannot say anything of a negative. read more

For years it's been our place to go our birthday, etc. occasions. Favorites include the veal dishes, and Scungelli in spicy marinara. Never disappointed in the food. My reason for only three stars are the changes in portions and pricing: they've eliminated the small salad that comes with the meal, portions are a bit smaller, and a house wine is $12 for a light pour 6 ounce glass. Two meals, each with salad, three glasses of wine each and tip is now $200 for a couple. No longer our first choice for special occasions. Since this place will be packed during the summer months I guess it is a sound business model, but for a local like myself, there are other places to go with just as good quality, food, and service read more

Wedding party of 16 tonight. First and foremost our server Lilly did an outstanding job. Service was excellent, all appetizers and food came out quickly and without any problems. Menu was extensive. Our appetizer (oregano oysters) was very good. Entrees were very good. Portions were huge but preparation did not suffer. Appetizer seafood salad was good but only got 1 shrimp which was fillet to make it look like 2. REALLY!! Spemoni alla Romano was good. Now the entree, flounder was salty and like mush, sauce was too thick. HORRIBLE! Veal Arabiata was paper thin like a piece of cold cut, very tough hardly any mushrooms all pepper. IGNORE anything that isn't a 5 star review for this place. I made a same day reservation for my girlfriend and I and was accommodated with one of the best tables in the house. The service was excellent and the food even better. The ahi tuna appetizer at $16 was a so fresh and refreshing. I actually ordered a second one I liked it so much. I got the 12oz lobster oreganata entree and my girlfriend got the chicken Marsala. 9.5/10! Drinks were affordable and solid as well. A must try in the area if you haven't yet. read more

I love the genuine Italian feel at Due Amici!!! The owner greeted us with a feeling as if we have know each other for many years!! We were seating immediately at a nice table. Service was wonderful! They had a few delicious sounding specials and it was hard to pick 1. I had the chicken special. It was very good. I am not a lover of brown gravy but I did enjoy my chicken. The portions are a very generous size. You will not leave hungry. They do have a bar but they only offer bottled beer. We were in from PA for a funeral and this restaurant was recommended to us. We had our first meal at Due Amici today and really enjoyed it. Now we understand why there are always cars parked outside! We went on a Sunday at 6pm and were able to be seated right away. There was a nice bar in addition to the dining room. My husband had a veal dish that had artichokes and mushrooms. He devoured it! I had linguine with white clam sauce, clams, shrimp and lobster. It was delicious. Both were large portions although the veal dish did not come with any sides at all. We both had drinks (he had name brand vodka in his) and they were good sized- and then I had coffee while we both had a fruit topped crème brûlée. Our bill came to $123. Our waiter, Anthony, was professional, polite and attentive. While it was a splurge meal, we definitely will go back. read more

Fun dinner with great food! Piano player was great but too loud unfortunately. But the food here delivers legit Italian fare! We came here as a group to catch up with friends and we're seated at a table between two large tables with very big groups of over 10. We probably didn't get the best table for four people in the place but we were in the middle of the room and we're excited to have Italian, some wine and some good conversation! Well the good news is we got two of those, Italian food and the wine! It's BYOB by the way! The bad news is it was near impossible to hear each other without shouting. Because the piano player was about 20 feet away, those large groups that had 10 people how to shout across the table in order to hear each other. Therefore we had to shower across our small table to hear each other. So I feel terrible complaining about a piano player which is a really nice touch these days and rarely seen. But my group did decide that if the piano was located a little further away from the dining area we could've heard the music and still been able to hear each other as a recommendation. The food here is clearly four stars, but because we had a hard time hearing each other I took a star off down to three stars. But you will not be disappointed here with the quality of the food. My fish was delicious. You get a side salad and a side of pasta with your meal which I really like a lot and appreciate!! Recommended for good Italian food, great service by the way especially if you're looking for a BYOB spot! Just ask for a table further from the piano even if you have to wait! read more

We love experimenting and finding new places to dine at and so off to Due Amici we went. We loved the ambiance from the minute we walked in. The fireplace and piano player are definitely a nice touch not seen too often anymore. Karen, our waitress, was amazing and truly loves her job. Piano music so loud everyone in restaurant talking loud to have conversations over it. A table near the piano player gad a tambourine and it was awful and obnoxious. It's not a bar ! It's fine dining. Owner should have shut it down. All the tables were looking at the obnoxious people !!! Food was great as always and so was server Melissa. Enjoyed dinner with coworkers as we celebrated a retirement. It was my 1st time dining here so to see the restaurant so packed made me think the food was good. Even the bar was packed which was surprising because I was not expecting that. The bar area is kinda small and dimly lit. We were seated right away upon arrival as we had reservations. The restaurant has an intimate setting however it was noisy because it was a Friday night. There was a pianist there which was very different but enjoyable. We sat at a table for 4 in the back by the kitchen so I was able to take in the view of the restaurant. Let me just say it was a revolving door the entire time we were there. Our waiter was very friendly as I forgot his name but when I return I will know by face. Service was great we ordered drinks 1st and boy were they on point. We then ordered calamari which we devoured. Our waiter let us know of all the specials for the night before taking our orders. Food came out and it was delicious. This is my second time visiting Due Amici. This time I ordered the Chicken Francese. The breading was good, thick but good. Chicken was tender. I ordered this with spaghetti which was cooked well. I usually like my pasta done a little more al dente but I didn't specify this with the waitress. I saved half my meal for the following day as the portion size was good after an appetizer. The stuffed artichoke was delicious. I would return just for this and drinks. Definitely worth ordering it. I wish the service was a little more attentive. It wasn't a particularly busy night but we had to call over our waitress and ask for things a few times. read more

Decided to try this place after everyone highly recommended it to me . Food was amazing , hot antipasto was my favorite , lobster ravioli delicious . My husband loved his chicken cordon blu , my stuffed flounder was all spinach stuffing with no cheese inside and the thinnest fish . I would not go back only because of the noise level was unbearable . We couldn't wait to leave and took our tartufo dessert home to enjoy which was just delicious also. We have been to this restaurant several times, each time the food has been excellent, the service and server were pleasant and extremely helpful. Quick to refill your water and also, when asked, provide opinions on several dishes. This time 7 of us went, had a nice round table, we had multiple apps , calamari, clams casino, clams oreganato, stuffed peppers and mussels. This will be a lesson that an attitude can ruin everything, but apparently whoever owns this place runs around with a ego they can treat people however they wish. Anyway onto the incident. My wife and I heard about this place and we figured we would go for my upcoming birthday. My wife calls to make reservations and this is how the conversation went with the male that answered. She asks if she can make a reservation and he says " do I take reservations?". She says "can I make one ?" His response verbatim " I'm in the middle of a dinner service , call back tomorrow." We went on a Wed. night, got the hot antipasto for two, shrimp parm, rigatoni vodka, shrimp scampi and chicken fingers. It has amazing food and drinks and does offer a piano player which was very nice unfortunately does have low ceilings so it does get pretty loud even with the carpet definitely needs a little bit of sprucing up For my taste. Food is average at best and so expensive. Every entree only comes with the meat and all salads and pasta sides are additional which for an Italian restaurant is absolutely absurd. There are zero interesting dishes on the menu, it's the most basic of options. The worst part of all is this place is NOT kid friendly what so ever. No kids menu, minimal space for high chairs. We came with a reservation and told them a high chair was needed prior and when we arrived it was clear that the high chair was an issue for them. Theres a million other better Italian restaurants to go to besides this place that are willing to accommodate children and have much better food at a better price. Thank god we went with a gift card because if I had to pay my own money for that terrible of a meal I would have been very disappointed. Have to be honest I was not thrilled the night we were going for Italian in the Point Pleasant Beach area since I have not been able to find good Italian food (and I have been coming here for over 30 years). Well I have to say this was by far the best Italian food in the entire area and I cannot say how happy I am to find an Italian restaurant this good that I am willing to go back to on a yearly basis. The main courses we're extremely tasty from the escarole and beans to the chicken scarp (which is one of the best I ever had). The food was served all pipping hot and fresh and as you can tell the service was short staffed but managed to do a great on overall. The deserts and espresso (not watery or store bought cakes) were served and made to perfection. Make this a must try Italian restaurant on your list of dining and do not be discouraged by the location (it is a hidden Jem). You will not be disappointed. read more

We haven't dined here in ages. Breezy outdoor dining on a very pleasant evening. Josh, the waiter was just ok, nothing really sub par, but very slow. Anthony, the sub waiter was more visible and quick, but at times too quick to take away plates. The beef carpaccio was decent, but skimpy on the shaved provolone. The mustard caper sauce, drizzled on top, was very tasty. Veal Sorrentino was my choice. Veal, eggplant, mozzarella, wine broth and marinara sauce. It was very good, a tad too much salt. My portion was large and couldn't finish it so.... the next day for lunch guess what I had? And yes, I felt it tasted better than the evening before. 3.5 Stars. read more

I lived in NJ all of my life, but never had the privilege to dine at this great restaurant. I had come back from my home HI to visit with my loved ones for several weeks. The ladies in my Bible study brought me to this great establishment to celebrate my homecoming. It did NOT disappoint. The food was the absolute best even though I had some challenging food restrictions, they accommodated me without hesitation. The service was amazing from the server to all who helped him!
