The ad for this place popped up in my social media and one look at the menu and I was hooked (dang algorithms ...). We got there a few minutes before they opened and there were already vehicles in the parking lot waiting. Since we were one of the first people there, I snapped a picture of the inside with no customers but it quickly filled up with what looked like local folks. Very cute place and fun decor. Both the hostess and our server were super friendly. My husband ordered the Riley Special, with scrambled eggs, bacon, and a waffle. I ordered the Creole Shrimp and Grit Cakes with a side of avocado slices. He loved the Riley, but maybe could have eaten a little more? He said it was probably enough for a normal person. The quality was great, though. My shrimp & grit cakes were outstanding: perfect sauce and a LOT of shrimp. I was surprised because I have had shrimp plates at other locations that barely have any shrimp at all. FYI though: the avocado slices were $3.50 when added as a side. The menu didn't really say (I don't think), so I was a little surprised. The rest of the menu looked so good, we're talking about going back for lunch one day!

Service was really good! promptly seated and greeted ! we enjoyed the mimosa flight for starters. he had the creole omelette with hash brown casserole. the casserole was a bit dry but omelette was good with a nice cream sauce. i had the special omelette with feta, spinach and tomato. the restaurant was clean with outdoor benches available for seating while you wait. breakfast is served all day.

Last morning at the beach, fam wanted to do brunch before we rolled out and Duck's wound up being the call. Somewhat surprisingly, this was the only spot we had any meaningful trouble getting into all weekend; there was a 25 minute wait at around 11 AM on a Sunday. There's seating outside and a nice loud speaker so no worries about missing your name being called. They were true to form with the wait time, though (right at 25 min) and eventually we got all 9 of us seated. It's a little cramped inside and can get quite loud but the decorations are fun and kitschy. The highlight of the experience for me was the service; everyone we interacted with was incredibly pleasant and working hard and very efficiently. I ordered a breakfast platter that came with eggs, hash browns, bacon and a piece of French toast. Hubs got something somewhat similar -- don't remember what -- but sans French toast/pancake/waffle. I think my mother in law got chicken and waffles and my father in law got some type of steak or pork chop sandwich. That stands out because whatever it was he said he rarely saw it on menus despite loving it. I don't recall what the rest of the group got other than Sis-in-law and baby cousin got some kind of fancy cold brew drink and liked it. The food was fine but I thought mostly unremarkable. The sweet tea was good. My eggs were cooked nicely but my husband's were veryyyy oily and he didn't care for them at all. My bacon was fine but a little underdone for my preferences. I did enjoy my hash browns; nice and super crispy the way I like them. I added bananas to my French toast and really wish I hadn't. The bananas were some of the most unripe bananas I've ever eaten in my life -- hard, bland, almost sour. I scraped them off and just enjoyed the French toast instead. Overall, no huge complaints, but nothing to sing to the skies about either. Pleasant family atmosphere and simple, familiar food; the service was the best part for me! Not a bad option but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice in the future.

We had lunch here. My partner had a shrimp poboy that was good. I had a cowboy burger that was not really great. It was a little salty and the beef did not have a lot of flavor.

Loved it here! It feels like your grandparents decided to convert their home into a diner. Lots of duck decorations! Tables are set up in the main house section and on the two enclosed porches. Bathrooms were clean! Waiters and waitresses were all helpful and attentive! So kind and even gave us suggestions on popular menu items. Banana stuffed French toast was delicious!! It tasted sort of like a cinnamon sugar donut with bananas and foster sauce. It was also topped with pecans. The biscuits were super fluffy and soft on the inside. Hash brown casserole was a favorite for the whole table. You'll see that some of the scrambled eggs were well done, but that was as requested. Best breakfast some of us had all week!

Came here all 3 days we were in town Nice little quaint place, wait staff is great. Food is obviously good! I'm in love with the yogurt parfait and even asked what yogurt they use, they didn't know so I'm super sad about that!!

We use to love Ducks Diner, but over the last couple years they have gotten more rude. They shy down on kids and make them feel like they are a nuisance. We however today gave them another chance and when we walked in the door they were once again RUDE! There overall waitress attitude continues to fail us. read more

Overall the experience was good. It took a few minutes to even get seated Bc no one was at the hostess stand when we arrived, and then once seated, it was still more waiting for our server. But once she got our drinks and got the order going, she was more attentive. We went just before 12, and there was no wait at all. The food was terrific. Their sweet potato casserole was some of the best I'd ever had! My husband's chicken fried chicken was cooked perfectly. The price is just right too! Great local play to stop in and try! read more

Iced tea had NO ICE....... then someone came out of the kitchen with our food and said 'I wasn't sure what you meant about a toasted biscuit but we can't do it.....' if you don't understand ask the customer. At best, I'm disappointed. It's hard to not to take sub-par service as an insult; especially when you pay for that service. read more

Really really good solid breakfast! There will be a wait because there is not much of other choices in the area and this place is quite small. I would definitely wait however long I needed to. Very good choices on the menu and also a great lunch selection. read more

We came to this place a couple of yeats ago and were wowed by the crab and swiss cheese omelete, were disappointed to find its no longer on the menu. They do have good breakfasts at a an average price with average service, though. Eggs were properly prepared. Probably the best thing was the bisquits. read more

Great food and service. Although breakfast is their "thing", the non-breakfast offerings are great too. It is somewhat off the beaten path, but enough people find it to keep it crowded right up to closing time at 2pm. Due to the wait, we were seated very near closing time, but never felt rushed to finish our meal. This will be now be a regular stop on our trips to the gulf coast. read more

They make homemade corned beef hash which was really good. The omelets looked really good too with lots of ingredients. Homemade biscuits but they were out of bacon jam which was the reason I got a biscuit. I give them a 3.5 for being out of bacon jam and Server forgot the jam and said they were heating it up but much later came back to say they were out. I think that should have been told to us prior to the order coming out. read more

We were a little afraid of what this would be like after reading the reviews about service but our service was excellent. The food however was not, pancakes must have been microwaved because they were rubbery, the biscuit was typical food service frozen/heat and serve type and my omelet left much to be desired. Very disappointing considering everything we read about how good the food was. To top it off, 15 minutes after eating I was sick. Not a good experience. read more

We have been to duck's many times before and always loved it. Our first trip to the area in 2013, we ended up going pretty much every day for breakfast which we got to know the family (and chatty Justin, haha) who owned the place at the time and it gave us more of a reason to go again summer 2014. The food and service was always beyond our exceptions and felt like we were treated like family every time we came. We decided against staying in Orange Beach this year and drove all the way over from Pensacola just have Ducks... Much to our disappointment after making the drive the restaurant is under new ownership and the atmosphere has completely changed. Do not get me wrong when I say the food is still good and worthwhile if you want a decent breakfast but the incentive us to go to Ducks anymore is no longer there. read more

My wife and I stopped for lunch after 9 holes of golf. What a great little place. It has a cute decor and feels like a homemade food establishment. Beer and drinks are available if you choose. The food and service was great. The hash browns were done nice and crispy. This may sound strange, but the tater tots were the best I've ever had. We will be returning. read more

My family and I came to Gulf Shores on vacation and visited Duck's. The food was EXCELLENT. Our eggs were cooked perfectly, as was the rest of our meals. Service was wonderful as well. We ate lunch there on a Friday. I would not say it was much beyond ordinary. The service was fine and the place was clean. The food was very average. I left wondering if we should not have had breakfast there instead of lunch. Breakfast might have been better from some of the reviews I have read. I would go back, but would probably try someplace else first. read more

Went to Ducks several times during a week-long visit and enjoyed both breakfast and lunch (they are not open for dinner.) Big menu! At lunch enjoyed a delicious special order Reuben sandwich--made with turkey instead of corned beef. Great turkey and beef burgers, other sandwiches and blue plates, too. For breakfast I enjoyed eggs, bacon, grits and biscuit - good basic breakfast. Service was fast and friendly, family-run, and prices are reasonable. Check them out. read more

We go to the Gulf Shores location often and are never disappointed. Omlets are hot, cheesy, and full of ingredients. The wraps are delicious, and pancakes warm and fluffy. Bloody Mary's are delicious! Biscuits homemade. Staff is really helpful and friendly. Great place for great food. read more

We came here for breakfast while on vacation in February. We were pleasantly surprised at the great breakfast we had. My husband had the crab and cheese omelette, I had the spinach omelette and my teenage son had the biscuits and gravy. I can honestly say it was the best breakfast I have ever had at a restaurant. I'm a local in the area and I've been going to Ducks for a long time now. I'm never disappointed by the amazing service and even better food. Even the owners make it a priority being involved in the restaurant. Not to mention the atmosphere of a mom and pops diner makes you feel like you're at home. I wouldn't go anywhere else for breakfast. I will defiantly keep coming back. read more

It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Maybe when I return things will be better.

I asked Yelp for something and this diner was the recommendation. We arrived at around 6:45pm and were warmly welcomed. The waitress took our orders and about 15 minutes later, dinner arrived. a "Cowboy burger" for me with fries and French toast with bananas for Mrs. K. Delicious, prepared well and plenty of it. I'd say the only ding is that the burger was cooked a bit too much for my personal taste - we weren't asked for a temperature and I should have asked. It's a true local favorite, and it keeps getting busier now that the tourists have discovered it too. One of my personal favorites is the Creole Shrimp & Grits--a true classic packed with awesome flavor. They are definitely not skimpy on the sauce or the shrimp, so be ready because you're probably going to need a to-go box. More of a burger person? Heck yeah--the Cowboy Burger is always a strong favorite and a solid choice. Want a sandwich instead? Go with the Reuben on Rye. It's definitely a winner and never disappoints. Need something to drink? They've got you covered with everything from good coffee and sweet tea to a Screwdriver, which happens to be one of my favorites. Overall, you really can't go wrong stopping in here. Sometimes I almost wish y'all wouldn't because it gets so busy , but I'd hate for anyone to miss out on one of the best local spots around. If you stop in, tell them the local biker "1/2 Time" sent ya! I won't get anything for it, but at least they'll know I was true to my word and gave them the solid review I promised.

Party of 2 on a Sunday about 1130. Had a 40 min wait. People we're called in front of us that got there after us. I questioned it and we were the "next people" in line to be seated. They had 3 hostesses, 4 waitresses and 1 girl cleaning tables. It was not super crowded as we were told a 40 min wait. I saw 7 open tables and 3 seats at the bar. Total tables in the places was about 20. The waitresses were doing a fab job. I asked for napkins as one of the hostesses walked by - the napkins were by the hostess stand 20 feet away from us. We watched him walk by 7 times and never got the napkins. It seemed management had the "it's not my job" Attitude. Since I observe workers and whose doing what it was pretty clear that certain jobs were beneath who. John Taffer would not be happy. Food was average. I have our waitress a hefty tip because she was doing just about everything for everyone. They are lucky to have her. . read more
