Although it's been here a long time, yesterday was the first time we've stopped in and I'm so glad we did. Staff was so nice and attentive and food was quick. We have been to Orange Beach many times, but have never been here to experience their breakfast. This morning we decided to go out for what we hoped to be a great breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Everything was great including the omelettes, hash browns, eggs, waffle, bacon, biscuits, gravy and even the grits. Service was great and food came out hot and fresh. Food was good but gave only 2-Stars because we were charged an extra $2 for sharing a full order of pancakes with my two children. They are 2 & 4 and ate snacks before breakfast and I'm not a big breakfast person. The staff were nice but it does not say there is an up charge anywhere if you share a plate. read more

Stopped for breakfast on our way back home . The pancakes are fluffy and big. Biscuits and gravy were very good and the biscuits are large The little duck comes with large portions of food. You come for the coffee, bacon, and grits; you stay for the vivid descriptions of fatal accidents! Breakfast was excellent, service also very good, and best of all, the friendly, chatty waiter regaled us with a detailed description of numerous recent accidental deaths, whether by automobile (walking along roads at night = especially dangerous), drowning (a popular local man had drowned suddenly in the Gulf only the night before), or more automobile (not just habitual drunk drivers, but also the hardworking fellow who's just relaxing after a long week and has one too many). There was little to no segue between coffee refills and death news, but hey, it was a busy morning at Duck's and time is of the essence. My friends and I left not just full, well-caffeinated, and less hungover, but also, I think, a little bit wiser. I would certainly return, but might wait a couple of weeks just to ensure enough time for fresh disaster news. Almost forgot to mention: even when the coffee pot has a little bit remaining in the bottom, they make you a fresh pot just to make sure to maintain the highest quality. Also, I'm confident that no one in Orange Beach has ever died of hot coffee burns, or we'd definitely have heard about it. read more

A very simplistic non-complicated review. Duck's is clean,the service is very good, although I went when it wasn't crowded and my breakfast of Corned Beef Hash and Egg's was good. Cozy little yellow Diner that you cannot resist! They serve breakfast anytime that they are open. And MY what a breakfast! The omelets are notable and somewhat of a specialty of the chef. The French toast is delicious! This little gem, with the cool duck sign, has won the areas BEST Breakfast award 5 years running...and I could see why. Good value as well. Plenty of food to eat. I found this place while looking on YELP for a good place to eat breakfast. My wife wanted to go to TACKY JACKS, but since we ate there the previous night (and it was horrible), we decided not to go back. We arrived about 9am. We were seated quickly, and our drinks were ordered when we sat down. My wife got coffee, i got a few mimosa's to start the day. The eggs were cooked to order, and they are REAL EGGS!! Not cheap powder eggs. I know what scrambled eggs are supposed to look like, and bright yellow is not the right color. The bacon is just awesome, and the sausage was cooked just right. My wife got the French Toast, and they tasted incredible! The biscuits and gravy were good, but i only ate a few bites, as i didn't want to get filled up on dough. The hash-browns were a bit plain, but they were cooked right, and that's what matters. Nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. We paid a little more than we usually do when eating breakfast, but we were on vacation, in no hurry, and enjoyed our meal. We are for sure going to go back and eat here when we return to Orange Beach for our next vacation. This is the place to go for a full breakfast....and I mean FULL....me and my wife didn't get hungry until about 4pm. read more

I know a lot of people like Ducks Diner however on our visit we were pretty disappointed. We both did breakfast and we both had to send our eggs back. Service was slow and unattentive. Our waiter did not do a very good job of keeping our coffee cups refilled. Very important in a breakfast joint. Probably will not go back given our experience. read more

We came to Orange Beach while on vacation and most restaurants had a 2-3 hour wait due to COVID 1/2 capacity. Ducks Diner had a 25 minute wait. After waiting, we go to order and find that what we wanted to order (the meat and 3 special) was not available. We opted for the chicken tenders and fries which were very dry and hard. We ordered a house salad as well which was iceberg lettuce, canned olives, and a chunk of tomato for $5. This restaurant might be good normally, but due to COVID I would not come back during this time. read more

Breakfast was great and we'll definitely give lunch a try in the near future. I had the Western omelet with grits and a biscuit. The omelet was prepared perfectly and packed with yummy vegetables, ham and cheese. The biscuit was extremely good (I believe home made) and the I enjoyed the grits as well. My husband had the Meat Lover's omelet and said it was very good as well. Our companion had the Lil Duck and said it to be cooked to perfection, very fresh and enjoyable. Egh. My friend ordered the corn beef hash and loved it. I had the biscuits and gravy. It was extremely bland. The hash browns were not crispy, nor boasted any flavor. This place was fine, but definitely nothing to write home about. The food was pretty bland. I got the Lil' Duck breakfast (eggs, hash browns, ham, English muffin). It looked like a breakfast platter from McDonald's; eggs were flat, hash browns were only fried on one side, everything was covered in grease. My boyfriend got a crab omelette with biscuits and gravy. This was less of an omelette and more of a scramble, with all ingredients mixed into the eggs. And the sausage gravy had no sausage. Also, the restaurant was hot and muggy. We went around 10:30am and it was already scotching hot. It was very uncomfortable. The meals were definitely overpriced for what we got. Amazing! You can not go wrong eating here! Breakfast served all day, amazing burgers and sandwiches! One of my favorite places to come when we visit the gulf. I am biased because I grew up knowing the chef/owner. However I have never had a bad meal here! Today I had the stack of pancakes and grits. Pancakes we light and fluffy, grits were creamy and oh so yummy! Husband had classical American burger. It was wonderful! Greasy spoon breakfast spot, with an owner that will melt your heart and a character to laugh about on your way home. We were in town for the Hangout Festival so the place was packed both days we ate there but the service staff kept up with the demand with a smile. Eggs, hashbrowns and bacon was good. The oatmeal was fantastic! The owners wife, was just a sweetheart. It is obvious that this family puts everything they have into this place. One interesting part was the owners son. He is a fast and knowledgeable waiter, but he spent a good portion of his time providing customers with his opinion about local events and the lack of viable dating options that he has in this beachside community. While usually this would bother me, in this case he seemed like a good barometer of local culture. It was like reading the local newspaper, if that newspaper had a tan, served me bacon and acted like a tough-guy. All in all, I'd go back any day of the week - except Monday and Tuesday when they are closed. read more

The service was very polite and friendly, but also really slow. It was a busy, post church service morning; but you've got to be prepared for that. When we were finally served; we had to wait, again, for silverware, napkins, and condiments. The cheeseburger was delicious, as was the wrap. I have eaten here multiple times as a local and it is consistently poor food and service. Food has always tasted like food you could cook at home if not less. Grits are some of the worst I've ever had. Management has never seemed to try to improve and things are going downhill. I suggest going to Brick and Spoon right down the road for good brunch food. Hubby and I visited this quaint little place for our 1 yr wedding anniversary. We ordered a little duck an order of french toast and a creole grit cakes. The menu does not tell you there is shrimp in there but the waitress thought enough to let us know just in case of allergies. The service was great the waitress was very nice and the food was very good. The grit cakes could have used a little more salt but the flavor was very good. My husband is a little critical of restaurants but he enjoyed the French toast which says a lot.
