Duck Donut is a must-stop every time we visit the outer banks. I highly recommend the maple bacon!

Delicious donuts! The donuts are made fresh to order, so how can that be bad. You tell them how many and what kind of toppings you want and go to town. The doughnuts were quite good, but probably mostly because they are fresh and you get to customize them to your liking with glazes and toppings of your choice. The breakfast sandwiches were like airport food (extremely processed and disappointing) and the coffee was scaldingly hot. It was still too hot to drink when we had finished our food. Omg !!! Best donut I've ever had in my life!!! I'm dead serious? And I'm pretty darn old and have had a lot of donuts. You pick your own combo of glaze, topping and something else. OK seriously?! I am so glad I do not live in the OBX. For years I have heard of Duck Donuts. I just thought ok probably a local Krispy Kreme. I was so wrong. Duck Donuts is so much more. First you must order what you want via an order form. It is not Dunkin you will need to specify icing and topping. All the donuts are cake donuts. It is a special recipe which I promise is worth the wait you will encounter at any Duck Donuts. Once you place your order you can watch how the donuts are cooked. There is an automated machine which is really neat to watch. Then you will see one of the many donut decorators put your order together. I think it is good they put glass between the workers and patrons someone could get hurt with all that tempation :) Once you recieve your box of goodies, EAT. The donuts come out freshly made to order and warm. It is simply one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. I highly recommend lemon with coconut or peanut butter with peanuts. If you splurged and purchased a dozen, worry not. The donuts are reheatable with fantastic results. Just dont overheat them. The directions are on the box. My only complaint, eventually you will run out of donuts. read more

Get here early or else be prepared to wait in a line that goes out the door! While waiting in line, you fill out an order form with what type of donut you want. Totally made to order! Their cinnamon roll donuts were SO good! You get to watch the donuts get made, from having them cooked up, to having the toppings put on. Each worker that places the orders have their own rock they place on top of the boxes for big orders so that they don't mixed up with others. The price is a little higher than Dunkin Donuts, but it's totally worth it! I'm so glad they opened up a couple shops up here in Northern VA! read more

Excellent donuts. They know what they are doing! The cinnamon sugar is our fave. The other combos we tried: powdered, maple bacon, lemon glaze with raspberry drizzle and chocolate glazed. We tried the S'mores and that was pretty awesome as well. They were all delicious! Glad to see more of these stores popping up. read more

How many ways are there to say delicious? As others have mentioned, I am also not a big donut eater and this place made a convert out of me! These donuts are special and the staff takes pride in what they do. Do not be put off by the long line, as it moves quickly and kids as well as adults will enjoy watching the donuts being created a few feet away, as they wait for their custom order to be completed. The donuts from this place are very good, but they have to figure out how to accurately make the donuts they claim they can "make to order". The problem was, I'm not sure whose order they were adding to our box. Despite our correct order being taped to our box, we ended up with donuts that nobody asked for! Donuts that people were really looking forward to were replaced with donuts that were more generic, and not what we wanted. OK, so you know how you're either a Krispy Kreme person or a Dunkin Donuts person? Well, if you're a Krispy Kreme fan, you will LOVE this place, because it's that type of donut, except a billion and one times better. If you are more of a fan of the denser, more cake-like, not-as-sweet donuts from DD, then these donuts are not going to blow your mind. i'm a Dunkin Donuts person so they wouldn't be my choice. However, I can see how these are absolutely AMAZING for people who like this kind of donut. The service was great - quick and friendly, so no complaints there. It's too bad there isn't much room to sit down here. There's one table outside with two chairs, and I think I noticed one table/bench inside... but it's always busy so there's a 98% chance they'll be occupied... so plan on taking your food to go. read more
