I was in the area for work recently and stumbled across Duck Donuts. It was around lunch time but it wasn't busy. Service was quick and my order was ready quickly. I ordered an iced cold brew, which is served black. I'm not a big fan of black coffee but there was cream and sugar available to doctor it up. I ordered two donuts-one for now and one for later. I got the Strawberry Shortcake and S'mores. Both were delicious and fresh.

First of all, this place is worth going, and going repeatedly just for the customization. Donut is always a fried cake donut, but you pick icing, topping, and a drizzle (which can be any of the icings). Very fun, and my brother did an amazing job collecting all the orders the night before, keeping track, and then crossing them off as everyone snagged the correct creation. Donut itself is perfection. Light cake. Classic flavor. Well cooked without feeling dense or greasy. I combined lemon icing, streusel, and raspberry drizzle. Delightful! Sweet without being assaultive and distinct flavors without being overwhelming. Everyone else seemed to happily devour their selections which included a French toast donut, varieties of chocolate, classic sprinkles, and of course a maple and bacon combo. Go. Duck. Enjoy.

This was the first time having Duck Donuts. I couldn't pass up the Fall Favorites Dozen, so I ordered online to pick it up at a specific time the next morning. The next morning, I drove to Duck Donuts and arrived at 0900 as planned. There's plenty of parking! When I walked in, no one was there. I looked around and it seemed that the store could use some refreshing. I don't know how long the store has operated in that location, but it seemed like a long time. After a couple minutes, a worker walked in the front door, greeted me, and asked if I was there to pick up an order. I told her that I was and gave my name. She handed me a warm box of donuts with my ticket on top that had bits of icing on it. Upon arrival at home, I broke into the box and halved a few donuts to try. They were still warm, obviously fresh, and very sweet. I'm not sure if I'll return, but it was a good experience.

I am not a donut aficionado and rarely eat them but the maple bacon - wow! I have had maple bacon at other places but this was by far the best. First, the doughnut was cooked to order so it was served warm, the bacon and maple reminded me of eating pancakes and bacon. All doughnuts here are made with the same vanilla cake base and then you pick your toppings and glaze. My friend and I split these two doughnuts and I was regretting my agreement to split The chocolate coconut was ok but the maple bacon was fabulous.

Very clearly states "no service fee" yet a service fee is applied.

Duck Donuts had been on my radar since I first moved to Reston over a year ago. They are a chain, but I'd never lived anywhere near one before. While the "made to order" concept was very intriguing, I didn't expect to love them. The donut glazes and toppings are fully customizable, but the donut itself is not. It is one type of batter, no flavor options, and you can't get them filled. For context, some of my faveourite donut chains are Krispy Kreme, and Winchell's Donuts. I also absolutely love Ronald's Donuts, located in Las Vegas, but they are not a chain. Some of my go-to's are glazed yeast donuts (especially the fresh hot ones you can get at Krispy Kreme when their "HOT" sign is on), blueberry cake donuts, chocolate cake donuts and filled dougnuts. Due to the singular type of donut availble at Duck Donuts, my expectations weren't set too high, yet I still managed to be dissapointed. FIrst off, what got me to finally try them was a promotion they were running for National Coffee Day. They were offering a free coffee with any donut purchase. Well, if you know me, you know I love coffee. I just couldn't pass this up! The frustrations began when I tried to place my order ahead of time for pick-up. This is my preferred method of ordering take-out, as it is more convenient for me, and often more convenient for the staff as well. On their Google review page, there is a link to order directly through Duck Donuts, and it says "no service fee". I clicked this option, entered my order, entered the promo code for the free coffee, no issues. Until I went to the check-out. Lo and behold, there was $1.00 service fee applied to my order. (see attached photo) This was hiccup number 1. I abandoned my cart and decided to go order in-person. After placing my order, the cashier informed me I needed the app for the free coffee. Their advertisement did not indicate this at all, in fact, it indicated very clearly that the app was not needed. I did inform the cashier. (see attached photo). Hiccup number 2. I went to sit down to download the app ( I REALLY wanted to try that cold brew with sweet cream, lol) It took about 10 minutes for it to download and install. Once it was ready, I got up to redeem the free coffee and pay for my order. I then sat down and waited for my donuts. It took about 10 minutes, which really isn't long at all, especially considering everything is made to order. However, I wasn't too thrilled about having to wait, simply because I already had to wait for the app to download, and I would have avoided waiting altogether if I had been able to place my order online like I orginally wanted to. When my donuts were ready I picked up the box at the pick-up counter and headed home. Without checking the box. Oops. I got home and opened the box, so excited to try my Pumpkin glazed donut with apple pie topping, streusel topping, and maple glaze. Let me tell you, when I opened the box and saw a chocolate apple mess in that box, I almost cried. Lol it seems so silly and I got over it pretty quick, but in that moment, I was so sad. I very rarely order chocolate anything, and I certainly wouldn't have ordered chocolate with that combo of flavors. I was already being a bit adventurous with the pumpkin flavor combos. Now...this last hiccup is partly on me. I had several opportunities to realize I wasn't getting a pumpkin donut. One, when the cashier rang up my order. Two, when I received my receipt. Three, when I received the actual donuts. I know better than to leave without checking...mistakes happen. In this case, I did receive what was rung up. It just wasn't, unfortunately, what I asked for. Had I been able to place my order online, this wouldn't have happened, as I would have been able to enter my customizations myself. The 2nd donut was exactly as I ordered it (Blueberry glaze, streusel, lemon drizzle) The glazes themselves were pretty good, other than the lemon (tasted artificial). I really liked the apple topping. The donut base was, unfortunately, not my cup of tea. While it was light and fluffy, it was oddly salty. I can see why their maple bacon donut is so popular...I defintely think their salty batter would work very well with those flavors. It just didn't work very well with the sweet toppings I chose. Interestingly enough, the streusel topping is more salty than sweet as well. Not salty in a good way like bacon would have been. Salty in a "why are you like this?!" kind of way. I didn't even drink the coffee. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, a must-experience, someplace I would bring/recommend to a tourist. 4 is great, someplace I would love to return again and again. Backup option to bring/recommend to tourists. 3 is good. Someplace I would return to if in the area. Not likely to reccomend to tourists, but possibly to a local. 2 is ok but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.

Love this place and it's a go-to to buy treats to share at work. Staff are friendly, good customer service , good food. However, it's losing a star because of the cleanliness of the facility. I was there today and used the restroom and saw this open vent on the ceiling FULL of dust and debris (see photo), In the dining area I noticed more on the vents on the ceiling, too. I feel bad for employees working here; think about what they're breathing in all the time. Hopefully this stuff isn't falling from the ceiling into the food, too. I hope the management does something about it.

The best bacon donut I've ever had! They are soo fresh and hot. The cashier went above and beyond, providing details into their donuts and flavors. The combinations are unique and delicious. The donut was the perfect size, and the shop had ample seating. Also, you can watch them prepare your donuts as you wait.

Right in the heart of Herndon. Easy to find the place and abundant parking available in the area. You can either order online or walk in. Ambiance is okay, place is clean, there is seating available if you are really craving to have donuts right there. Atmosphere is very calm. Staff and service is good and quick. You can see how the donuts are made. Donuts go through a nice conveyor system and are made fresh when ordered. Donuts are great, there are variety of donuts and you'll find the one that suits your taste. I liked blueberry pancake, S'mores, cinnamon bun and all the chocolate versions. Donut size is decent and very affordable. Will definitely recommend to try it out.

Being from Texas, one thing that surprised me was the lack of donut shops in the area. Duck donuts are good, but not great. The flavor I would give an eh, they aren't super flavorful. They do have many combinations and toppings which is nice. The donuts are always moist. They are quick donuts to get, even on busy mornings.

Not only the best duck donuts I have been to, but the best donut I've ever had. I am a sucker for a plain donut, and not many places offer them fresh (or even at all)! Store is in a nice location and the service was quick. This was BETTER than Round Rock Donuts in Texas

The Brownie double chocolate cookie is hands-down my favorite and tastes like a fudgy brownie. The dark chocolate chips just melt! The Classic Chocolate Chip cookie was a bit too sweet and tastes like a sugar cookie with chocolate chips. I wasn't a fan of the Cookies and Cream Oreo cookie. The Cina-Cookie tastes like a buttery Snickerdoodle cookie with cream cheese filling. The Birthday Bash cookie was fun to try, but quite sweet and loaded with sugar. Highly recommend warming up the cookies in the microwave for 20-30 sec, they soften up and taste like they were just baked with that delicious ooey gooey texture. The chocolate chips just melt in your mouth! If you get delivery, the cookies are stone cold. Delivery takes 2-3 days after placing an order, even local shipping takes a full day. While it was fun to try the 4 pack of cookies with delivery, it was just too much and I was on a serious sugar overload. It would be nice to have an option to only get a set of 2 cookies with delivery. The cookies just don't taste as good cold even with reheating and it's better just to get the cookies at the shop. Will stop by for the Chocoholic double chocolate when I'm in the area. Happy to support this small NOVA business!

Important reminders: each MidnighTreats cookie weighs over 1/3 pound! They're enormous, and for sure big enough to split (... to share, sure, or just to enjoy yourself later; they even recommend cutting them in half before freezing them [if they last that long]). PRO TIP: you *have* to reheat them before eating them (otherwise the flavor/taste/texture just isn't the same). Build your own box for currently $30 ($20 plus $10ish for shipping), and some of the flavors change each month. We've tried... + Birthday Bash (funfetti rainbow sprinkles cookie): personally, I like the nostalgic flavor of generic "birthday cake" that's recently become a thing, and I think they do a fantastic job capturing it! + Strawberry Shortcake (shortcake cookie smothered in strawberry icing): This was the taste of summer I needed. So bright! Just the right amount of sweet! And they definitely didn't hold back on the icing! +/- The Classic (a blend of dark and semi-sweet chocolate chips): compared to other vegan chocolate chip cookies that can be shipped to your home, this one's actually one of the better ones! +/- The Chocoholic (fudgy double chocolate chip cookie): you have to REALLY, REALLY like/be craving chocolate for this one. - Cookies N Cream (oreo bits with chocolate chips and vanilla chips): this one was just okay, and I take the blame for missing that it contained white chocolate chips which I am not a fan of. It says they're vanilla, but that's not what they taste like to me. - The Cinna-Roll: I believe the recipe for this one has changed over the years, because it used to be a cinnamon roll flavored cookie with cream in the center (and there was *barely* any of it, making it a very dry, very boring cookie). It seems it's now a cinnamon roll cookie smothered in vanilla icing, so I just wanted to make sure I had corrected info here. Other things of note: they've donated thousands of dollars to animal sanctuaries across the country! they've planted close to 20K trees with reforestation projects! they've donated thousands to local schools and shelters in their NOVA community! How can you not love a company who's built in giving back to their community in their core principles?!

Upon our arrival, we were seated near a window overlooking the sidewalk where we were able to watch people passing by while enjoying our candlelit meal. 10 out of 10 for atmosphere at this charming and cozy table. The service was prompt and attentive. We started by enjoying a few of the craft cocktails, which were simply wonderful and the product of a talented and adept bartending. If your idea of a good cocktail involves slush or machines, this is probably not the place for you. I enjoyed a dirty martini, as did my youngest daughter. My oldest daughter enjoyed a French 75. All lovely and all perfectly mixed. I would return here if nothing more than the cocktails! For starters, my daughter shared the Pate De Campagne, which consisted of country style pâté, cornichons and toast points. They loved it! My wife enjoyed the Salad Verte and I loved the Roquefort Salad. Both salads were simply marvelous and went well with the freshly baked bread. On to the main event! Fo her entree, my youngest daughter had the Roasted Cornish Hen. She had never had Cornish hen before, but this particular rendition made her a fan of the dish. Perfectly cooked, juicy and savory. My older daughter enjoyed the Salmon en Croute. The salmon was perfectly cooked to the correct temp and the pastry was spot on. A lovely dish and one I will try on our next visit. My wife and I each devoured the Chicken Paillard. This is one of those dishes that is so simple, but the lemon butter knocks your socks off. If it wasn't such a lovely restaurant, I might have licked my plate. Yes....it was that good. I ate every last caper! For dessert, we shared a portion of the luxurious pistachio cheesecake. An excellent ending to an amazing meal. This charming restaurant is a jewel in the heart of Herndon. I highly recommend it for your next special occasion. We look forward to returning soon!

From start to finish, everything about the experience felt lovingly crafted. The atmosphere had soft candlelight, warm décor, with chandeliers over the tables and linens. The dining room felt elegant yet understated. Although we were the only diners at the time, the room was warm and welcoming, which made me a little self-conscious as if we were being served in someone's home. The staff were warm, attentive, polite, and genuinely interested in making our dining experience memorable. It feels like the kind of place where you can linger over your wine and conversation on a romantic date or a special night out; so I was delighted to find the staff was more than happy to accommodate our 2 year old in a high chair. It helps that we have a toddler who is well-behaved and the servers were endeared by how she was able to say "thank you." The menu is a beautiful celebration of classic French cuisine with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We started with an order of escargots de bourgogne served on mushrooms. The garlic-parsley butter was delicious and my toddler even enjoyed them. We ordered a mac and cheese gratineé to share which was delightfully topped with savory breadcrumbs and Gruyère cheese. This was a hit at the table. While we didn't order alcohol, opting for sparking and still water instead, the wine list appeared to have a good selection of items to pair with the menu. For the main course, I had the Trout Amandine, which was cooked to perfection with toasted almonds and a bright lemon flavor topped by tender haricot verts. My partner went with the Steak Frites which was perfectly seared, succulent, and paired with crisp pommes frites--which had to be cooked in duck fat because every bite was crispy and flavorful. For dessert: Crème brûlée and the best textured chocolate mousse I've ever tasted! We put our reservation in for 9 pm and the staff was wonderful enough to let us stay past the kitchen closing at 10 pm and enjoy our desserts. They were also kind enough to serve us each a chocolate cream puff as they overheard we all were recently celebrating birthdays within a few weeks of each other. This gesture, along with a birthday card, was such a thoughtful surprise. The quality of food, the serving staff's attentiveness, the delectable food, the ambiance, all contributed to us having a wonderful experience. Price-wise, items fall into the mid-upscale price range, but it's undeniably worth it for a special date night or celebration, and the value was certainly there. We tend to cook at home a lot, so it was nice to enjoy fine cuisine in such a cozy and quiet place. Overall our visit to La Bonne Vie truly lived up to its name, offering us a moment of "the good life." I can't wait to return and try something else from their menu like the coq au reisling pie, cornish game hen, or ratatouille pasta. Highly, highly recommended. Merci beaucoup!

I like the taste of green tea so I wouldn't have minded but the bingsu was so sweet, I could barely taste any green tea flavor. The best part about the bingsu was the corn flakes and mochi bits but I don't even like corn flakes. The portion was pretty generous and could easily be shared with 2-3 people, which would be nice if the bingsu was actually good. We ended up only eating less than half of it. Would I go back? : Definitely not. I've never had a bad bingsu before and unfortunately this will be the first. We ended up going to Chateau de Chantilly Cafe afterwards because of how unsatisfied we were with our experience.

I've been here many times and the mango cheesecake bingsu NEVER misses. Literally one of my…read morefavorite desserts ever. The mangoes are sweet. The cheesecake bites are so creamy and yummy. The snow is milky and soft. The cereal adds a very nice texture. The vanilla ice cream on top is a a pretty sizable scoop. It's a big portion for one person, so I recommend sharing or just ball hard on your own. The croffle choco was So yummy as well. The texture was crispy and soft. The warm waffle with the cold ice cream is a wonderful contrast. The chocolate sauce kind of reminded me of Nutella. The Blue Portion-ade wasn't worth it imo. It pretty much tasted like watered down Sprite. Despite having two desserts, I still wouldn't say I was sugar overloaded. They weren't TOO sweet where I felt sick afterwards, but I was definitely stuffed. I'm a big fan of the self checkout and just grabbing your tray of food without much interaction. To some maybe it feels a little cold? But to me, this is paradise to not have much interaction prior to me devouring the food. Overall, I love coming here and eating yummy desserts in a chill environment!

My wife really wanted cookies the other night so we decided on here because it was closest. It was a tad hard to find at first because it's inside the SoftSpot and doesn't have any signage or branding anywhere outside the building. It was super busy for a Saturday evening but they also serve fancy hot chocolate so it made sense why it was busy. The cookies themselves were very very good. We ordered the red velvet, cookies and cream, s'mores, triple chocolate, and one other basic cookie. The cookies and cream, red velvet, and s'mores were all premium cookies and much better than the normal ones. Highly recommend those 3. We wanted the Reese's cookie but they didn't have any already baked so we would have had to wait an additional 15 mins so we went with the red velvet instead. You can also order cookies to be fresh baked but it says it'll take about 20-25 mins for that. The service was super friendly and helpful. My wife also really just wanted a cup of the whipped cream and the employee was super kind and gave her one. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating but felt cramped due to the volume of people inside on Saturday night.
