I got two of the featured donuts (one was Maple Icing with Chopped Bacon, other one was a peanut butter one but I can't remember the combination :/) and they were both absolutely amazing. The donuts were a good size where the dough to topping ratio worked perfectly. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Me and my kid came in to just get half dozen.....when we first walked in the music was so loud that it was hard to wear my kid say what she wants. It wasn't just that, the whole store is just pure chaos and, just completely disgusting!!!!! The General manager Randy, is rude and, extremely disrespectful to customers and, with his own employees!!!! On top of that!!! This store is just extremely unsanitary, purely disgusting and, definitely need to be shut down. while watching our donuts go thru the fryer. The fryer oil looked like it hasn't been clean for over an century due to how black the oil looked in the fryer!! the bathrooms smelled like spoiled milk and, Mildew!!! . I was, however, pleasantly surprised at how good Duck Donuts is. First of all, there are a ton of flavors you can pick from. You can also create your own donut by choosing your own base, icing, and toppings. I got the blueberry and lemon swirl donut and loved it, even though it was a donut. Each bite was heaven! The icing actually tasted like blueberries and lemon. The icing with blueberry chunks encasing the soft, warm donut was such a perfect blend! My boyfriend also really enjoyed his chocolate fudge and maple syrup peanut donuts. We wolfed down our donuts in minutes. Service was good! My donut was ready in maybe two minutes. There's ice water available for you to quench your thirst. There are maybe three tables in the shop and a bench outside. Parking is easy as there are plenty of available lots and street parking spaces. Finally, each donut only costs $1.53, an incredible price for such amazing donuts! When we arrived in C'ville to stay with friends they raved about this donut shop where they were getting treats for us in the morning. To be upfront I don't care much for donuts and when you mention a chain restaurant I cringe (minus CFA, In & Out, you know the "good ones") but I held my tongue and hoped for the best. And BOOM they were right! The Duck Donuts were amazing - as good as you could possibly want. The outside has a nice fried crispy, the middle is soft and flavor packed and I haven't even addressed the coating/ topping/ drizzle action! With our dozen we chose an assortment: french toast, maple bacon, strawberry lemonade, sprinkled (because my wife is actually a child inside), cinnamon crunch, chocolate caramel and my personal favorite blueberry. I think I have a beef with donuts. I don't get why they are served as a breakfast item and not dessert because that really and truly is what they are. There has been a lot of buzz about Duck Donuts, and we went shopping really early last Saturday morning, so I knew we had to check it out when there wouldn't be a crazy line. Their menu is organized by icing flavors and toppings, so you are able to customize your donuts. Bacon everything is also all the rage, so we felt like we needed to try the maple and bacon donut although the peanut butter with chocolate sprinkles was another good choice that I'll have to try in the future. Coconut is my boyfriend's favorite so he went with vanilla and coconut. The donuts are made to order, so they come out of the oven pipping hot. They are very, very, very sweet--more so than other donuts that I've had. They are super cakey and delicious--like I said before, they should be served as dessert. The coconut was tasty, and I liked the salty sweet combination of the bacon and maple. I get why Duck Donuts is super hyped, and I'm just not the biggest donut fan, but if you are, you should definitely get your butt in here! read more

My friends ordered the cinnamon sugar donuts and my boyfriend and I split the glazed, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate with sprinkles. Wow. I really loved how they were freshly made, customizable, and pipping hot. When I say hot, I mean watch your fingers and get napkins or utensils for these! Sorry for the bad rating, but I was REALLY disappointed with this place. The good: the staff was extremely friendly! My friend & I were greeted by the group the moment we stepped into the establishment. Duck Donuts certainly have the customer service thing down. (I was also surprised that many of the employees were young!) HOWEVER, the donuts themselves were awful. Donuts were oily, the lemon & orange icings have that unpleasant artificial taste, the inside of the donuts were soggy & UNDONE... It was a total mess for me. I love Duck Donuts and am never disappointed by any of the flavors I choose. This time, I got two donuts: one with blueberry icing + coconut topping and one with vanilla icing + oreo topping. I've heard about Duck Donuts for years from friends who travel to the OBX. They almost always make a pit stop and then post pictures on social media piquing my interest. So when I came to Cville on a recent visit and found this location within walking distance of where we were staying, I jumped at the chance to give them a try. Choices: The frosting and topping choices are amazing! We ordered a dozen and tried everything from maple with bacon crumbles to lemon topped with coconut. The only flavor that we found to be just "meh" was the orange frosting. Other than that, delish delish delish! Price: Pleasantly surprised that the donuts were cheaper than our local donut chain. I am a fervent fan and supporter of cake donuts and I think it's because of Duck Donuts. I've been obsessed with the concept of warm, crumbly donuts since I tried the chain in OBX. And I've been delighted to find yet another chain tucked into the Stonefield mall that manages to maintain the quality and recreate the warm goodness of the donuts. You can see the batter actually being dropped and fried in the oil and then glazed right in front of you. Be warned this also comes with a wait time so either give your order enough time in advance to allow them to prepare your order for pick-up or be able to sit and wait for a bit. They usually have samples of crumbled donuts that you can have as much as you want of. It's also great in case you just want a single donut for yourself after dinner or as a snack as you walk around Stonefield. 'Donut' miss out on this place if you're in the area! read more

It's hard to not like these customized-to-order donuts, especially with that darn cute duck logo. I am a big fan of how you can order whatever icing/toppings you want for the same flat price, whether you get cinnamon sugar or maple with bacon. Granted someone will have to wheel me around in a wheel barrel due to my weight gain from these delicious morsels from heaven, but those are 1st world problems I can deal with.
