If you're into warm, made to order donuts, Duck Donuts will certainly be your cup of tea. The donuts come out soft and fresh! You can customize everything from glaze to toppings, which makes it easy to order too many sweet treats. The "build your own" setup is fun, especially if you like trying weird combinations (maple bacon, peanut butter drizzle, Oreo crumble, etc.) The downside is they're so delicious that it's hard to stop at one or two! Lol! Service was a bit on the slower side which was a bit surprising given it wasn't very busy. It's more of a grab-and-go than sit-and-stay establishment . What a fun place to take the family! Each kid got to pick a donut custom sized by themselves. They get to watch it being made which is so fun!! I didn't realize that their donuts were made to order so it was a pleasant surprise to receive a box of warm donuts. They have a variety of toppings. These donuts are a sweeter dough that kind of reminds me of the sweet sixteen powder donuts as far as level of sweetness. There was a few seating available inside. The past three times I've gone to this once great Duck Donuts location have been a terrible experience. The customer service is absolutely atrocious. To the point that I am probably never going to go back to this location again (frequented a few times a month with my family). My last trip over was Sunday morning, 9/14, to pick up a dozen donuts at 7am for my daughter's 6th birthday. The staff was annoyed that I was there when they opened and were extremely rude and unprofessional. I placed my order and waited about 10 minutes before another person walked in. The staff and manager on duty at the time told that person it was going to be about 30 more minutes before they could get to her order b/c the donut machine was at the right temperature to start making donuts. They failed to tell me this as I was waiting patiently for my order. I ended up asking for a refund from the manager who was just God awful. Terrible attitude and didn't care to be there at all or help me out. This Duck Donuts needs a complete overhaul of their staff and customer service training. I will not be back. Wow. Do I recommend Duck Donuts? If you haven't had Duck Donuts, you're missing out. This place has gourmet donuts. They make the donuts that you order after you order them. They come warm. Fresh. Delicious. They have bacon as a topping for their donuts. You can pick what kind of toppings you'd like on your donuts. Or you can choose from their already delicious menu of choices. I like the maple bacon one and really any of them with bacon. I also tried a couple different blueberry donuts that were amazing. I got a lemon raspberry one that was also very delicious. They even have milkshakes here y'all. That makes this place a clear winner in my book. The milkshake was so good too. They drizzled chocolate and caramel sauce all over the inside of the cup. Deluxe. Been seeing how this donut chain has been rapidly growing throughout the states...and now I see why! I finally took the time to try them on our beach vacation in Edisto/Charleston, at the West Ashley location. First of all, I liked seeing the wide selection of flavors/toppings...plus you can customize your own. Plus, every donut is made fresh to order (so it does take a little bit more time than your typical donut shop). Since it was my first time, I decided not to customize...and just went with half a dozen signature varieties. Downside was that the donuts were on the small side...but guess that's not a bad thing if you're counting calories? Also, the topping presentation could be better. I mean, look at that sloppy layering of chocolate over the strawberry donut! Overall, these are super-yummy donuts that are reasonably priced...and well worth trying. A donut made your way is under $2- not bad for dessert. My husband and I cut the donuts in half at home so we could each try half, and the toffee one was our favorite- I wish it was offered year-round and not a seasonal ingredient. I love going here to get donuts. They are always made fresh. The donuts are cooked the same way mini-donuts are cooked but are a regular sized donut. When you order the donut(s) you can pick your toppings. I love the classic cinnamon and sugar. My wife usually mixes it up but her favorite is having maple and bacon on hers. The only downside is that they are not in my city so I do not get to go here as often since it is about a 35 to 40 minute drive (sometimes longer in traffic) to get them. read more
