I was rejected by Urban Hound even though I've been going to them for many years with both my dogs…read more There has never been any problem with their behavior. However, their business has grown and they no longer accept new clients and apparently have decided to dump some of their old clients. They don't even answer their phone anymore! I took my dog to PetSmart and was immediately given an appointment. The young women doing the grooming were friendly and professional. They did a great job with my Harry and I made another appointment. The fee wasn't as much as Urban Hound charges...quite a difference. I would and have recommended PetSmart grooming. As a bonus, the parking is certainly easier and one can get out of the lot without getting t-boned.

Sorry for the Rant, I never do this on reviews. I would literally give negative Stars if I could…read more We had the Worst grooming experience EVER!!!! First of all it took 4+ hours = Ridiculous Second of all - Sierra the Groomer should be Fired Finally, the MOD was a complete moron. We have a 2 year old Havanese and we were explicit of how we did NOT want him cut too short. As you can you see from the photo, he is almost completely shaven and looks terrible My wife was in tears picking up our dog and when she escalated the displeasure to the manager he did NOTHING. They even claimed we got the upgraded package with better shampoo and nail trim. Too bad he had nails done at the vet two days ago. All in All a Total Sham. The manager should count himself lucky I was not there to pick up the dog, or I would have taken the clippers to him!!!! Save your money and go elsewhere.

I love this place! I've used their services for every animal my family has welcomed. I'm waiting…read moreuntil my newest service dog is 18 months old until he has his visit. A Dane Heeler his name is Stormy but I call him Smalls he was found under a bridge downtown. I thank God for him everyday. He came just in time my service dog Wishbone was almost done done. Within 2 weeks Wishbone was gone and Stormy had to step up for duty before training even started. Smalls hit a home run! His hart is bigger than he's ever gunna get. I just hope I can LOVE him back as BIG. Thanks for earning my trust to care for my kids. Shy Storm

I can't express enough how awesome IHA is. We scheduled our 1.5 year old grey tabby to be spayed on…read moreTuesday morning, and had her back the following morning. Safe, sound, and resting peacefully (Pictured below in her favourite spot). Note: We were able to snag someone's cancellation by calling on Monday. Otherwise, it appears appointments are a month + out as of 3/2022. Intake was amazing as staff met everyone coming in that day at the door and assisted with initial paperwork. Our kitty was just past her follow-up shot regimen for rabies and distemper, which the clinic provided at a minimal cost. Overall, our bill was just over 90$ which included nail trimming/capping (10$), shots, spaying, pain medication, overnight stay, as well as a microchipping fee (25$). This is far, far less then the range of prices we were quoted at other local animal veterinarian/hospitals. (Anywhere from 250$ to 1050$, just to *spay* alone.) Although a bit of a drive for those living in Hiawatha/Marion/North CR, the cost and level of care make it worth your time. If you choose to utilize IHA for your pet healthcare needs, please be sure to add a little extra when you pay to help keep this local non-profit going.

Ah, the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center. What a wonderful organization. While I have…read morerescued a pup or two in my life, I have not had the pleasure of doing so here. They typically only have a handful of animals searching for homes at a time and fortunately they're adopted pretty quickly. But my experiences with the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption include... - Bite Reporting and Quarantine -- Our dog, Arlo, nipped a stranger attempting to pet him without permission on a dark walk. It was a mortifying situation. But they were nothing but kind and understanding throughout the entire thing. - Acquiring Animal Behavior and Training Information -- After said incident, we inquired on ways to help our dog. They have a wealth of knowledge and really know who can help in the area. - Licensing -- All dogs and cats over the age of four months are required to have an Iowa City animal license. To obtain a license for your animal you have to bring a current rabies vaccination from a veterinarian. I think it is $10 a year? - Microchipping -- We had our puppy, Ada, microchipped here for free during their annual promotion. Brought her in, filled out a form, boom. In and out, no problem. I've also donated a lot of different items here. They're always looking for old towels or blankets. So keep that in mind next time you clean out out your linen closet! Support this amazing organization. Keep an eye out for events benefitting them. Pawject Runway is a blast.

I adopted my cat Hayden there in October 2019. He's amazing. I would suggest anybody go there…read morebecause they make sure the animals are chipped and that they have their shots so it's reasonable price to adopt still have Hayden today and I love him so much.

They have a great staff who are dedicated to all of the wonderful animals looking for homes. They have tons of great volunteer opportunities too from dog walking & cat care to fostering and mobile adoptions. So even if you aren't able to bring a pet into your home right now, there are plenty of ways you can help out this great organization and make an impact on the life of a homeless pet!

My boyfriend and I approached ICAC on behalf of our then cat, Augusta, a sweet, chatty tabby we had…read morerescued in Oxford. Locals assured us she had been displaced and unfed for several weeks. We housed Augusta for four months and loved her very much, but her senile condition/medical complications became too difficult for us to maintain (namely her thyroid deficiency). So, we discussed it with our vet and agreed the shelter was our best alternative. From the get-go, we were received both unprofessionally and insensitively at ICAC, without so much as a greeting. The woman I assume is in charge glared us up and down and asked where the cat came from. She couldn't have looked more disinterested in what we were saying. She then informed us they were unable to take strays found outside of IC. We asked where we should go instead. 15 minutes later, she referred us to a shelter in Cedar Rapids. I explained that Gus had been living with us in IC for four months under local veterinary care and asked that she reconsider Gus's residency. At that time, she began interrogating us about how we acquired the cat, taking a tone as if to imply we were neither "legal" nor competent guardians for Gus. After tiptoeing in circles around reasons to get rid of us, she finally sighed out something along the lines of, "I guess you could relinquish her to us..." We ccepted (so sorry to inconvenience you, lady). She then drilled us over why we didn't just do it at the vet (I'd already told this woman at least twice we'd never done this before). While I was signing the waiver, she was checking Gus's teeth, at which time Gus started growling and the woman took her to another room. She returned almost immediately without Gus and at no point offered us to say our goodbyes. She just sent us on our way. Nevermind what was lacking here in basic service, how the fuck does an animal shelter lack less than basic sympathy?
