I had heard of a cabinet line online that offered a high gloss, flat slab, Euro-style kitchen line. I reached out via their website for a quote based on a cabinet layout I had already planned. Pricing seemed in line with other quotes I had gotten, so I went to see the cabinets in person. Unfortunately, that week that line's distributor let the company know they were discontinuing the white high gloss finish. Derek was very transparent about the situation and recommended against buying the cabinets in case anything went wrong, as they'd be hard to replace. He guided me in remaining available lines and what he would and wouldn't recommend. He quoted a framed flat slab cabinet that would work for my needs, and he even pointed me to a local company that he doesn't sell in his store, but knows was the type of cabinet I'd been looking for. That, along with a few other cautions, set our expectations before starting our project with Kitchen & Baths Unlimited. For my wife and me, however, the experience turned out very differently. We cannot say enough great things about Nancy (design), Owen (project management) and the entire team that meticulously executed the remodel. While I work from home and my wife commutes downtown, we decided to move forward with gutting and remodeling the vintage kitchen in our 100-year-old farmhouse in Evanston--and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Yes, the demolition phase was a bit loud, as expected. But after that, the usual construction noise--hammering and drilling--was manageable. The team did an excellent job minimizing disruption: adjacent rooms were carefully sealed to contain dust, wood floors were protected with panels, and window treatments were wrapped in plastic. Design selections were also made easy thanks to Nancy, who guided us through choosing colors, cabinets, and countertops that matched our vision. The result is a beautiful transformation from a neglected, dingy farmhouse kitchen into a bright, modern farmhouse space. The Italian tile backsplash complements the quartz countertops with subtle veining. The lower cabinets are a soft gray, while the upper cabinets are white, creating a clean and balanced look. We also upgraded our appliances and fixtures, including LED ceiling lights, a Bosch microwave drawer, a professional KitchenAid range with a matching hood featuring an infrared sensor, and a modern stainless-steel farmhouse sink with a gentle bow. Despite an initial delay with the permit office due to a previously applied for permit that KBU helped us manage, the project stayed on schedule. We made a few minor upgrades along the way, but thanks to Owen and Nancy's guidance, we remained on time and within our overall budget. The KBU crew was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. Communication was seamless--especially since I was working from home--which helped address questions quickly and keep the project moving efficiently. In the end, we passed all inspections and received written approval from the village within a day. For us, this remodel was a great success. I worked with Julie (designer), her team led by Jesus, and of course, owner Owen. Julie came up with ideas I hadn't even thought of and was able to convert an old, smaller space, into something that felt luxurious. Jesus and his team were super hard workers, pleasant to deal with, trustworthy, and highly efficient and knowledgeable. Everything was overseen frequently by Owen. I was blown away with the gorgeous result and the seemlessness with which this project was completed! I highly recommend KBU to everyone!

What started as a positive experience was ruined after final installation of my backsplash. Granite Selection had sent over their template for the seams prior to cutting and insisted they were necessary behind my sink and I agreed to the alignment they provided. However the installation was completely off on the veining of the quartz behind my sink and did not match what they showed in the template for approval. I have called 10+ times to have them fix this as my kitchen is small and it does not look right. I have only been able to talk to the business owner Paul once and he has constantly ignored me. Beware - they require a check up front and if you have any issues they will ignore you and happily keep your money. I couldn't be more disappointed in their lack of responsibility and care for a paying customer.

They were patient with us and the process (after we fired our first contractor for leaving an open gas line after demolition, not getting permits, and other issues). We have a small kitchen, but they made us feel as if we were their biggest and most important customer, kind and super responsive. Even after the job was finished and fully paid for, they came back to address a small issue to limit a cabinet from hitting another cabinet adjacent to it when we opened it. She greeted us and suggested we register with the front desk to get a salesperson to help us. I asked if she could be our salesperson. She had on a mask but when she greeted us, her eyes showed she was smiing and I just had a good feeling about her. I told her I thought I knew wgat I wanted as I had 2 samples from Home Depot & wanted to see full slabs. She sent us to the warehouse area and said she'd meet us there in a few minutes. Told us where to look for my samples. We were able to go right to them from her directions. OH NO! I didnt like either one. About that time she came around the corner to us. I told her I didnt like them and as we talked about what I did & didnt like she was able to give me some other slabs that she thought Id like. She NAILED IT! I immediately knew which one was perfect! Id been back & forth between samples for a couple of years, never able to decide. Id done my shopping at Home Depot and just never found "IT"! Theres so much more out there than what HD has! I actually had a price worked up at HD but just couldnt finalize it. Hellen said I could think about it, take my time. But I KNEW it was the one, finally. We gave her our square footage, talked about edging, sinks, cutouts and she gave us a rough estimate. $1600 cheaper than HD! And whereas HD said 5wks out, she said she could get us done in 2. HD has to go find someone to actually do the work, the measuring, the cutting the of the stone and the installation are all farmed out to other companies. Precision Stone Design DOES IT ALL! We first walked into PSD on Feb 6th, yesterday was our install! Angel & another young man got to my house at 12:50, unloaded their equipment and there was A LOT, and came in & introduced themselves. They were pleasant, personable & professional. From the mats they put on our hardwood floors, to the dry vac they brought to the care in which they did things "professional" describes them perfectly. There was 44sq ft of quartz in my small kitchen, a sink they had to make adjustments for, and a corner I wasnt 100% happy with that they were able to take care of ON THE SPOT. I would use this company again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend you check them out. Oh! Part of the difference in price was because HD had come up with more sq footage than I actually had! I dont know whether you can see the muted grey & beigey tones in this bright white quartz but its beautiful, subtle & elegant. I love it! 3.5 stars Beautiful…read moreinstallation with misinformation The Stone Experts did a beautiful job on our kitchen countertop. However, they left the underside of our island unfinished and raw. When first confronted, they claimed this was "standard practice" and suggested using a damp cloth to clean. After a couple exchanges, they later mentioned that we were supplied a "sample" slab which is why only one side is polished. We were not aware that we paid top dollar for a sample slab-only after it was installed. While craftsmanship was good, buyer beware of the exact finish you're getting.
