Each time I've been there, the sales associates have been VERY helpful.

She was the only staff member so I cant imagine it being too difficult to find out. I should've asked her for her name. She was a brunette with long hair, pale skin. I was in your shop for about 20-25 minutes. From the moment I walked in till the last second I walked out, I was never greeted ONCE. I didn't even get a blink of an eye. At one point, towards the end of my visit as I lapped through the entire store, my last round after looking at the shoes was looking at the jewelry that was on the counter where the register is, I purposely stood about 1 feet away from her to see if I can get ANY acknowledgement and still, she didnt say 1 word. There wasnt any "hello. How are you? Let me know if I can help." NOTHING!!!! I saw so many cute things in this shop, but quite honestly, I told myself Im not going to buy anything if I dont even get the slightest half smile from her. I gave 20+ minutes of a chance. I was furious as I walked out, and I refuse to support a business that does not want to welcome my patronage. I am a business owner myself, and I cannot imagine my staff treating paying customers like this, especially when it's customers that pay for their payroll.

Many are the skimpy style that you would see at a dance club for 18-21 year olds. So, basically, imagine a F21 dress, that normally sells for around $10-$20, priced at $100-$170. None of the dresses are from any of the common brands that one would see at department stores like Macy's, JCPenney, Nordstrom, etc. E.g. Anne Klein, Eliza J, Jessica Howard, etc. The sizes for the cocktail/party dresses run small and are also similar to F21. Almost every dress was solid color, so not many patterns, and also not many unique cuts (IMO). In the dressing room, you can see the beads/sequins/etc. on the floor from falling off the dresses. If you look closely at many of the dresses, you can see the missing beads or loose threads or irregular sewing. I'm of the opinion that the shop batch buys off-brand Chinese dresses through a mass wholesaler, such as Aliexpress, and then prices them up to sell at a profit locally. I will say, though, that many of the core brands at the department stores are also going downhill. I saw plenty of dresses of similar shoddy construction at the department stores that I visited. :( I have been traveling across CT for several weekends now looking for a quality, pretty cocktail dress for a wedding that I'm attending in June. I was hoping to get a dress that I could wear for multiple functions. A dress from this store would be lucky to even last through one evening. It was the worst store that I visited in terms of quality/design. I feel bad saying that because I very much care about supporting local businesses. But the simple truth is that I would never visit this shop again and I would not personally recommend it. I will say, though, that the store was very clean and very well organized by color, and the two sales people were very kind and attentive. Also, they had a wide array of colors. If you're desperate for a clubbing dress of a certain color for a specific event, and if you don't mind paying a lot of cash for a one-time-use dress, this might be a helpful shop for you.

Unlike another non-profit shop I consign with, MR is merchandised & marketed on social media. For those reasons, I felt my items had a good chance of selling. Their biggest downside...I've been frustrated for too long bringing my things there, having good items denied. I've brought brand new or worn twice, stylish items that got denied. It's almost become a joke when I go in. They've tried to point out a "DOT", their favorite word. 'You see that little dot there" "Sorry it's really cute but due to the quality, we're going to have to pass"....you can NEVER see their infamous "dots!!" Once they discussed a tiny "area" on a print top I brought in, between them, back & forth for 15 min...it was clearly part of the print design, this tiny, faint, tan part of the floral design they "jussssst weren't sure wasn't a "spot"...it clearly wasn't! Denied! Meanwhile, I see worn, faded tops on their racks, not nearly in as good condition or stylish as my items. I've brought in name brands they always sell there, in perfect condition, albeit used, that they deny. Molly Rose...you DO know you ARE a USED clothing store, right? Twice I've seen tops I'd also owned at one time, that they charged more for than I bought it for brand new! I will say, my one better experience was with the owner herself, who was much more customer friendly and while selective, better at choosing items. For the heck of it, that day I had brought in a necklace that had previously been denied, for seemingly no good reason, as they had others like it...the owner liked it and took it immediately! Unfortunately, she's been there choosing items only once in my 3 years consigning. I've also bought items in the past there, so I've been a customer too....but I'm done wasting my time consigning with them.

She showed me around a few racks of sport coats and suits she'd picked out in advance, knowing roughly what to expect from our phone conversation, and with my reactions, quickly worked her way to my tastes. As a saleswoman, Lorry doesn't push - she just showed me stuff and went with how I felt. She was even honest enough to tell me, when I was hedging on a jacket, "if you're doing that now, you'll do it every time you put it on. It's not worth it." I eventually ended up with a gorgeous wool suit, circa early '70s, which was exquisitely dry cleaned and pressed (which she does with all her merchandise). She priced the comparable suits she got from this source at $225, but this was for her Manhattan market. As a first-time customer who was a student and from her hometown, she let me have it for $95. It needed a little bit of tailoring but she gave me a very complete recommendation for what to do, how to have it done, and who to take it to. The rest of our conversation was about mutual friends/family who we discovered we had. I was there for an hour and a half! You almost feel like an honorary nephew or something in this place. A breakdown: Prices: I didn't get enough of an idea with other merchandise to determine, but these are not thrift store prices. Then again, they're not thrift store items, and she'll work with you. Selection: extensive, sometimes kooky and sometimes very wearable, consistently vintage (lots of 50s-70s). Experience: very pleasant and focused entirely on you.
