I find that this location is known for poor customer service. The store should be run with self check out services if there isn't a real threat of theft. The staff interact with one another but never gesture to even say hi to its customers. I've experienced this on numerous occasions. Seem unhappy with assisting customers. I guess all their time and energy is on keeping the store organized and clean because that's all I've ever noticed. read more

All in all, this place always seems to have what I need when i need it. They don't carry all of the latest trends BUT they seem to always have something to make up for what they don't have. I purchased a pair of clearance tennis shoes at the Cary location of DSW. I took them home and I needed to remove the purchased insoles and put in Plantar Fasciitis insoles. I discovered that the shoes were too big. I took them back to DSW, and they were more than amazing today. They returned them, ordered me a new pair and also honored all of the discounts that I had been given on the original purchase. I hate going into places such as these, because I know I probably won't walk out empty handed. If you want shoes, sandals, sneakers or handbags, you are sure to find it here. They offer both men and women's shoes- not sure about kids. This location seems much bigger then their triangle town center location, and I found this location has more of my size 6-7 then the triangle town location as well. read more

I shopped here with one other person on a Sunday afternoon. These are my thoughts and observations. -They were crazy busy on Sunday. -The displays were well managed and not misleading. -Their selection of women's shoes was huge. -Their selection of men's shoes was lacking. -I'm a women's 11 or 12, and I couldn't find many shoes in that size. Overall, their range of women's shoe sizes is disappointing, and they don't have a large selection of men's lifestyle shoes. Ok, here is the deal with this place. The shoes are wicked expensive, but the selection is fantastic... and they have an exceptional clearance section in the back. Not crappy shoes no one would want, but seriously stylish shoes available in your size for a good deal. I wear an 8.5 (which is one of the most common sizes and they had 4 rows of clearance shoes...every girl's dream btw). I go in once in a while and peruse the clearance section and the regular price ones. I'd say most of the shoes are going to be $50-80 (some much, much more), not including the boots and sneakers. It's a bit overwhelming, but for your bargain shoppers, deals can be found. Like designer shoes for $15 (that were originally $80-90). Just like I did when I was 13-years-old and needed to find the perfect pair of shoes for my Bat Mitzvah, when it was time to find the perfect pair of shoes for my upcoming wedding - I turned to DSW. Before even going to the store I called ahead to check if the shoes that I was interested in were in store and in stock. The associate who answered the phone was very helpful and put my shoes on reserve in the back. When I arrived at the store I found my shoes right away and they are perfect! The associate that helped me took the time to make sure that I was happy with my choice and asked me about the details of my wedding. I find this place is a great bargain hunters place for High End shoes. I find $350.00 shoes you would find at Norstroms for 109.00 here. The clearance section is even better. My wife got me started. I went with her , so to stop her from going I started buying shoes. I did find allot of great bargains I could not resist. So when we are in Cary, we always visit DSW. Went to this store looking for a particular shoe. I was unable to locate it and asked for help. The gentleman pointed and said they were on isle 22 or 24. Huge area and still could not locate them. Went back up front again and asked for help and was told he had to do something first and walked away from me. If I had been by myself, I would have walked out then. He came back and let me to another employee who who tersely informed me that they hadn't arrived yet. Hard to believe that a store that large doesn't carry a simple ES clog. I love DSW. They have such a great selection, it's rare to come out of there without at least one pair of shoes, and usually it's tough to leave with ONLY one pair! As the other reviewers have mentioned, they also have a great sale selection in the back. There are always a lot of shoes in all sizes in the sale section and they aren't just the old ugly shoes that no one wants! They have a decent rewards program and when you shop on their website you can apply any of the awards $$ you have earned toward your purchase. They also allow you to stack special offers on their website, I think up to 3. They almost always have free shipping offers and you can return anything you don't want in the store. This DSW location is probably the location I visit most often in the triangle area. The store is massive so there is a large selection! There's a big clearance section in the very back as well. I just recently had a great customer service experience so I wanted to write about it. I bought a pair of heels a size smaller than usual months ago. At the time of purchase, when I tried them on in stores, the heels didn't feel too small or uncomfortable. Unfortunately, after putting them on at home (after removing the tags and throwing away the receipt) I knew my feet would not be able to survive with the shoes on since they were a size too small. I would always forget to take the shoes with me when I would make a trip to DSW. Finally, around 6 months later I had the shoes in my car when I went shopping in Cary and I asked about returning the shoes. The lady at the register was able to call a hotline and get all of my purchase info and I was able to get store credit. I honestly thought it was a lost cause (especially with the amount of time that had gone by, no receipt, no barcode, no price tag) but the staff members that helped me at DSW were able to go above and beyond to make sure I left as a happy customer! read more

All I wanted this season was a pair of low heeled brown boots that could be work at work or casually. They just don't have realistic options. I'm sorry, but skinny heeled boots are just impractical. Along with this is North Carolina...our weather is crazy and I have no interest in risking it with slippy boots. I had purchased a pair 3 years ago from the Rocket Dog brand that were great. I wore them out, hence my new search for a decent pair of versatile and practical boots. Maybe there's a bunch of fashionistas running around Cary that I just don't know about? I need to stop because frankly I have very little that is nice to say about this location in regards to merchandise. It's December and I still don't have my boots. I ordered a pair from online...which takes awhile to get to you. They were a size too small. You have to go return them, then re-order them online.
