Buyer beware! They absolutely ruined my Proper Cloth dress shirt. This shirt was in GREAT condition when handed to them. Now, there are these brown stains all over it. It is ruined. I can't tell if someone burned the shirt somehow or spilled coffee all over it or what. When I brought it back to this store to make the shop's attendant aware of the issue, she offered something like $20 bucks for their ruining my shirt. That is not acceptable for a $120 shirt ($140 after shipping and taxes). This is after the attendant told me that she knew well that I did not submit that shirt in that condition. The attendant then offered a store credit of $50 or something like that. I told her "why would anyone in their right mind take another piece of clothing to the same store that just ruined their last article of clothing? That does not make sense."
The store even put a notice on the hanger (for the ruined shirt) that said something to effect of "these stains were already here and we couldn't get these stains off of the shirt". Obviously, someone was attempting to absolve himself/herself of culpability.
It takes a truly awful workplace culture to ruin a customer's property and then lie about the damage by placing a notice on the property (clothing) that they didn't do the damage. And then once the damage is called out by the customer, point to a sign in the shop that essentially says if they ruin your clothes, they are not going to remedy it. I told the attendant that the $20 reimbursement, or a "store credit" was unacceptable for a $120 shirt. I told her that a $60 reimbursement (not a store credit) was reasonable as the shirt was used (not new). She said she would talk to the owner and call me in four days. She went on to say the owner is not "customer service minded". In other words, I shouldn't expect a remedy from the owner. That was 2-3 weeks ago. My advice would be to never use this dry cleaner. read more
