It would be nearly impossible to not love what Dance Kaleidoscope adds to the city of Indianapolis…read more I was in their offices this past weekend for another event. It was an opportunity to reflect on my own experiences with them (and to ask myself why I'd never reviewed them). Longtime Artistic Director David Hochoy retired in 2022-23, a season which was also the organization's 50th. They are one of the Midwest's longest-performing professional dance companies. Now under the leadership of Joshua Blake Carter, Dance Kaleidoscope presents four unique mainstage performances in Indy each year. They're a very accessible group. They participate in the Access Pass Program. This allows people to experience dance with $5 tickets and even dance classes at a discounted rate. They are also known for partnering with a variety of non-profits from Damien Center to the Children's Museum to Ballet Hispanico to quite a few others. In 2019, they located inside the Factory Arts District. They offer 34 weekly classes to over 200 students. They also share their studio with other groups (including Indy Film Fest). As a wheelchair user, I've always been pretty in awe of dance. I absolutely adore Dance Kaleidoscope, and I adore what they contribute to this community. Factory Arts is really the ideal location for them. Schrott Center and the Toby at Newfields seem to be two of their favorite places to perform here in Indy. If you've never checked out Dance Kaleidoscope, I highly recommend it.

The plays are generally well done, fun and entertaining. The small venue guarantees a good view and accustic from any seat in the house. Street parking may seem limited, however, there is a large private parking lot behind the building.

The lead role was Jasmine Elliott. She sang ever Houston song as well as Whitney did The second lead was Anjelsh Evans who also sang beautifully The cast was full of talented and well choreographed dancers. Beautiful costumes and a handsome lead man. This play had it all Back drops were rear projection and felt very real Overall well worth seeing! The Executive Producer is Trina Dingle, a very special lady who has been building this theatre group for over 20 years. She even calls and sends an email with ticket information. We had tickets then friends wanted to join. Even though it was a sell out crowd, she worked our friends in so they could join us. Trina explained that this theater is a diverse entertaining arts program. Knowing that black entertainers are not always cast in lead roles, this theatre showcases their talent The theatre is in the Athenaeum. The Atheneum is a collaborative sponsor We were seated at cocktail tables on the main floor. Tickets are less expensive if you sit at an area other than the main floor The tickets are extremely reasonable compared to other venues. We were treated by the staff with the upmost respect and Trina came out to meet us. I did not know Trina before, we only talked on the phone. She was so special I am glad I got to meet here. Few more performances left. It was a wonderful performance and we are all glad we had the opportunity to enjoy the play and learn about this jewel of a theatre.

This was my first time coming here to see a play, so I was looking forward to the performance. It has been a long time since I have seen a play at a local community theater, so this was a treat for me. The play did not disappoint me at all. The actors did a wonderful job with the performance. The play is based on a Broadway musical, and it had a little bit of everything from singing to acting with different skits throughout the play. I was laughing and even crying a little bit throughout the play. Mud Creek Players is a great venue in Indianapolis that offers community theater plays and sketches for entertainment. The interior is definitely like an old style stage and theater with a concession stand in the front. All proceeds from the concession stand sales go towards a foundation for the theater. It is a very nice venue and the staff are wonderful and friendly. The play was excellent and entertaining like I said earlier, and it was worth the ticket price of $20. I'm glad I was able to see a play here at Mud Creek Players, and will definitely come back here again to see a play because it was great entertainment for a Saturday afternoon. So glad Indy has culture available to us!

The audience was seated either at tables or were free to sit on the grass. Several groups brought blankets to spread out with some bringing food to eat while they watched the performance. It was a great low key performance. Although tickets were free they did need to be reserved in advance. And donations are accepted which I didn't realize until a friend noticed a small sign and basket on the way out. So if you go and enjoy the performance I'm sure donations are most welcome.

The dancers were good, very professional, choreography ok. My FAVORITE dancer was by far Yoshiko Kamikusa who is a founding artist. As a former dancer myself, I was totally captivated by Yoshiko. She was strong, graceful, flawless, and absolutely stunning. I enjoyed the evening and applaud the Ballet company. I hope to see them again.

It seems as if two groups were starting within 30 min of each, and so extra littles were just hanging out for 30 min. People are coming and going. Door remained locked and parents didn't go past front entry, but for this newbie mom, I had to wait in the hallway for 5 min just to make sure my daughter didn't come out crying from too much going on....after a year of the class, even experiencing a questionable photoshoot day, I still feel they have a good dance school and great way to stay involved and aware of the professional ballet dance community. If we still lived in the city, my daughters would all go, but sadly, we are a good 30 min drive away. Will still venture downtown to see a production. It's hard to imagine that anyone doesn't know ISO, though I'll confess that even I don't go to their concerts often enough. Every time I do, I'm overjoyed. So, the basics. ISO is Indiana's largest nonprofit performing arts organization with over 200,000 people attending their concerts and educational programs annually. A 12-month season includes around 150 concerts, though they're far from limited to their Monument Circle home (they are based out of Hilbert Circle Theatre, though they're likely just as known for their Conner Prairie shows and their educational programs like Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Teddy Bear Series, Discovery concerts (kids grade 3-6), and others. ISO was founded in 1930 and is getting psyched up to celebrate its 100th anniversary. They have central values of Inspiration, Unity, Integrity, and Stewardship. If you've ever been to Circle Theatre, or any of their concerts really, you know they emphasize accessibility to music and to their shows (I will admit I have had a couple concerns with the Conner Prairie shows and accessibility). The musicians are not just immensely talented, but it's often quite the joy seeing them interact with audiences - and I love watching educational programs. From stunning classical music to pop culture integration (like the Star Wars shows), I love the creativity and just plain fun of these concerts. Truly, truly truly...ISO is one of Indy's true treasured non-profits.
