Pumpkin salad was even better than it looks!
    Sandy J.

Came for dinner tonight. The ambience is pretty cool. I ordered the fried chicken and the pumpkin salad. The fried chicken was just okay to me. It was perfectly fried however it was a mix of white and dark meat which I didn't really prefer. The salad on the other hand was awesome. I gave this place an extra star because of it. It was super busy and service was very slow but I felt bad for the waitress she seemed to be handling way too many tables alone. Back to the salad. It was arugula (rocket) with pumpkin, quinoa, pine nuts and goat cheese. I need to recreate this at home!

I feel a bit like Goldilocks whilst I'm writing this review. Not because this particular spot is better than the other two cafes of the same name but because I finally finally finally made it to this new opening in a location that was juuuuuuuust right. Yes. I will confess. I'd heard by name of its reputation but never made it to the other two locations as I have stayed in my neighbourhood purely because of proximity to home comforts. Thankfully with summer on its way, it will slowly become less of an issue. Probably. Anyway, back to this brand new cafe (that had only been open four days when I visited) in the perfect location that's quietly bustling and dishing out delicious meals, I found myself here on a sunny Monday afternoon (thank you public holiday system). The waitress sets a bottle of mint infused water on the table and hands me a couple of menus that are so shiny and new that it's makes my inner designer squee a little. I start with a cappuccino thats strong and good, followed by a salad of the week? Month? Either way, it's excellent and bursting with flavour and just the right number of ingredients. My foodie friend had ordered the vegan burger and she was impressed too. Then to end the meal, cocktails! I mean.. what else? Having not been to the other locations, I was really impressed with the set up. Location, obviously excellent. Food, top notch! Service, sweet, efficient and super friendly (thank you Simon and everyone else)!! And all together with the decor, set up and interior and space? I can already imagine myself here for summer. Maybe when the crazy winds stop they'll set up tables outside so we can take in the much needed vitamin d that winter has taken away! So more sunny days and more brunches here please! Summer is on its way!

I visited this place just a few days after it opened and what can I say I was suitably impressed in how well it was running for it's first week. I know it's their third location but always impressed when a company can open a new location smoothly. I ended up getting the fish and chips and yes it was a really good meal and I would happily go back and order it again. Sadly when I visited they were out of lamingtons so I had to go with the rocky road for dessert which still wasn't so bad... but damn it next time I want lamingtons! So if you are looking for a great new lunch spot in the area I would certainly recommend Drovers Dog for sure!

Corn fritters with bacon, poached egg and chili jam

Drovers Dog had been sitting in my bookmarks list for a while, and this location was very convenient to reach - a short walk from Wibaustraat metro station. Overall, great food in a comfortable and spacious location. Perfect for brunch and hanging with friends! Food: 5/5 I was with a small group for lunch and everyone's food looked amazing! I had the corn fritters which were served with bacon, a poached egg and chili jam. It was exactly what I hoped it would be - the corn fritters are like little potato pancakes with corn in it. The bacon was crispy and the jam was a nice surprise - sweet and savory, more like a chutney. Other food recommendations are the eggs benedict and the burger. They had a pretty extensive list of cocktails and drinks, though be warned that though the milkshake was tasty it isn't the thick kind. Service: 4/5 The wait staff was friendly and checked in on our table every now and then. Atmosphere: 5/5 This location is a spacious outdoor patio with seating which was really nice with the sunny weather. They also had seating inside which seemed just as spacious and comfy. It is a great place if you have a large group because they also take reservations which you can make online. Value: 4/5 Most dishes were around 12 euros so not bad for lunch, and the portion sizes were medium and filling.

Awesome Aussie cafe serving brunch from 10am on weekends, offering fresh juices, great coffee and even better meals ! Waitresses were lovely as well, decor is super cute with the wooden tables and flower pot plants on each. Can't wait for my next visit, might try a burger and Bloody Mary next time like the table next to us at 11am on a Saturday ! Ordered: Eggs Benedict with salmon 2 x Smashed avocado with poached eggs and goat cheese 3 x Long black Large latte Fresh apple, ginger, carrot and beetroot juice Approx. €56-58

First time trying kangaroo! The meat looked raw and we were like hm maybe that's just how kangaroo is cooked, but then our burger came out and it also looked severely undercooked BUT they were both freaking delicious so if we end up getting food poisoning I'll update this review. We ordered sweet potato "chips" aka fries as an appetizer. They were also amazing, but they came out after our meal... overall great food but slow service. Also if you order water make sure you have a preference for mint because that's how it comes

Just finished my meal here and I am beyond happy and satisfied! I walked in to very welcoming atmosphere and the staff was very willing to help me pick some items from the menu. For an appetizer I got the Salt and Pepper Squid which was amazing! The main course was a bit of a wait tonight but once it got here, totally worth it!! Kangaroo Filet with sweet potato and snap peas over a sweet potato purée. My first time ever trying it, which was a bold move but I am so glad I did! I you are a steak lover (and I mean real steak, cooked less than medium) you'll love this! Would definitely recommend!

We reserved our table for brunch, but it was not so busy. The fresh juices are amazing and so is the coffee. We ordered ricotta pancakes and black bean and lentil burger with fries and glad that we did not order more as the quantity was good and filling too.

    Lychee Mule very delicious!!!

Wow! Wow! I was extremely impressed with EVERYTHING!! First the service was excellent!! I had some of their house cocktails and they were amazing and on point! The atmosphere was modern, but very comfortable. We started with the salt and pepper squid, which my 2 and 4 yr old gobbled up! They have a kids menu which only has two things, but my kids LOVED both dishes, and surprisingly they ate everything!! I had the mixed grill for 2, it was beyond delicious and my expectations! I'm not a burger fan at all, but I ate my half greedily. I felt so decadent. I had the Lychee Mule and the Tasmanian Devil both perfectly concocted, not too strong or too sweet. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed Drovers Dog. Make a reservation! I travel extensively and I love dining experiences like this. Thank you Drovers Dog for making this family very fat and happy.

I went to Drovers Dog today to be the first one to write about it on Yelp ;) and I read about it…read morelast week and of course, not unimportant, because I was hungry. Drovers Dog has opened very recently and I think it is nice that Amsterdam Oost is getting more cool spots lately. I think there used to be a shortage of nice places to hang out in Oost, but it is getting better. I also love that the brunch culture is getting more popular in Amsterdam these days! Drovers Dog looks very cool and gezellig. There is a lot of natural light thanks to the big windows, the bar and furniture are made of wood and there are little plants on the tables. Outside is quite a big terrace. I love the all day breakfast concept and it is very cool that this place is opened 'till 10 PM. After having a look at their menu I went to the bar to order my things. Unfortunately they told me that it was so busy that they were way behind on their orders and that they would take no orders for the next 20 minutes and that they were very sorry. We could order our drinks now and our food in 20 minutes.. Okay, well. That's okay, we were in no hurry. We ordered a banana chocolate smoothie and a strawberry and rose ice tea. The smoothie was very nice but the ice tea absolutely lacked flavour and was watery. I do not recommend it. After waiting 25 minutes I asked if it was possible to order our food. They told me that sadly I could only order wraps because they were out on the other food. (they were out on pastries as well.) I was quite disappointed because I had set my mind on the corn fritters but ok, lets have a wrap then. We ordered a Serrano ham wrap and I choose the spicy mayonnaise to go with it and a grilled chicken wrap with hummus. I also ordered a flat white. So.. it was 1.30PM and they were already out of food. That's not really good in your opening weekend, after being featured in 'Het Parool', right? The flat white was really nice. Great coffee. The wraps weren't very special though. It tasted alright I guess but I expected a lot more of this. It also was my only option. When we came in there were people eating corn fritters, burgers, eggs benedict...and all I got was a not-so-special wrap?? mehhh. The experience was not as pleasant as I expected. It all seemed very unprofessional. The waitress was constantly searching for the right tables, service was very slow, we had to wait long and they were out of almost everything, Hopefully these were all beginners problems. I will go back in a few months to see if they have improved,. I want to be positive here! I do think this place has potential so that's why I give 3 stars.

We ordered the veggie paddie burger (Groenteburger). She did check for my allergy, which was kind, but there wasn't any warmth to be found in the conversation. Presentation was nice, fries were good but the burger - though it looked cool - was superdry and hard to swallow. We commented this to one of the serving girls and she just responded with 'Oh!' 'Not really sure what I can do about it.' She said she'd pass it on to the chefs though. After also being treated quite aloof by the other staff, we don't think we'll be back.
