Experience with making online reservations was good. Within 2 hours (if not less) after making the reservation, I reserved the confirmation by telephone. (Be aware you do not have a reservation until confirmed by phone by the restaurant).
Great food. Service was a bit slow in beginning, but became better once starter got served. Main reason was probably that they opened at 6:00 PM and the restaurant was already pretty full at 6:45 PM.
This restaurant has a good atmosphere, and a good climate (just right, not too warm and not too cold).
The quality of the food is excellent, and portions are a good size. We, group of 3, had the slow cooked pork belly, the marinated emu takaki, and the Thai style spicy crocodile cake as starters. They were all really tasty.
For the main we all had the Rare roasted Kangaroo fillet with a bitter cocoa cremeaux, celeriac puree, beetroot marmelade, and a preserved cherry jus. The whole dish was nicely plated and very tasty. Personally, I preferred the steak without the chocolate, since the combinations of the ingredients themselves are already excellent. My tip would be to put the chocolate block aside and leave it.
We tried 3 different desserts:
* Pineapple mousse with coconut snow, pineapple lime jelly, lychee meringue and coconut water.
* Deconstructed lemon ricotta cheesecake with Italian meringue, lemon confit and mascarpone sorbet.
* Rolled pavlova with a yoghurt creme, dried fig ice cream and a salted caramel anglaise.
The cheesecake and pavlova were both very tasty with a diversity if explicit flavors. For me personally, the pineapple mousse dessert was a bit disappointing. It was still well prepared, I just believe the dessert would be a lot better with coconut as the main ingredient/flavor with pineapple accents (instead of the other way around).
PRO'S:
* Good service
* Excellent food
* Water and bread at no charge
* Good house wines
* Menu changes every 4-6 weeks
CON's:
* The tasting menu offering (4, 5, or 6 courses) is misleading, since it doesn't offer you a variety of small portions of the dishes on the menu. Instead you will get 2 small starters, 1 main, and 1 dessert. To me, that is nothing close to a 'tasting' menu. That's just a 4 course a-la-carte menu...
* Parking is less easy/available as suggested on website (but still doable).
Overall, we will definitely be back more often. read more
