I originally walked in to the Apple store on State Street hoping for an appointment to get my daughter's phone fixed, which had a cracked screen. The associate told me that I would be seen within an hour and took my number to send me a text when my appointment was ready. So far so good.... I got the text and returned to the store within 10 min. I checked in and was told to wait at the Genius Bar. About 10 minutes pass, no big deal. 20 min I decide to check in again and I'm told that I'm next in queue. All the while, people keep walking in and get help immediately. After a 30 minute wait, I decide to leave. As I'm walking out the door, I get a text that because I didn't check in, they were giving my spot to other customers. Nice.... I drive by Drop, Smash, Fix and decide to check on availability. The associate told me that I could be seen immediately and that he could fix my daughter's iPhone 6S screen with in 30 minutes and he could match the price at apple ($130). I left the phone, got a call within 30 minutes that it was done. So easy! The associate was super helpful and professional. We ended up getting screen protectors for her phone and mine. In and out with ease. I've decided that going to apple is literally torture. I'll only go if I absolutely have to otherwise, easy stuff like cracked screen- never again. I brought my phone here today after it took an accidental fall and the screen shattered into several many pieces last night. I was relieved after a friend recommended this place and when I looked it up and saw that they had mostly good reviews (the others do not). I called ahead and was told that they could definitely fix it and it would just take an hour, I was so relieved. I also found a Groupon when google-ing the company which was a pleasant surprise. I came by after work and was not given a cold shoulder when I told them I would be using a Groupon (as some businesses do). Jack greeted me right away and was super helpful with walking me through the process. I had a meeting to run to and since I usually use my phone for a clock, I missed their closing time by 10 minutes and was panicking as one does these days (since my phone is my lifeline). I knocked on the door and Jack so kindly answered the door when he saw my panicked face. He did not give me a hard time and kindly let me pick up my phone. I've been to the Santa Barbara DSF location several times and always am impressed by the staff and service. I came in today because my iPhone stopped charging and figured the charging port needed to be replaced. Technically, that would have fixed my issue and made the company some money. Leif & Brian suggested that we clean & service the port; they were pretty sure that was all that was needed as they pack up with lint over time. After a good 5-10 minutes of effort Leif had it back up and charging like new. The pile of lint was surprising and it was because Leif got every shred taken out. I really appreciated Leif's suggested fix and detail-oriented service to my phone. Being a repeat customer I have major gratitude that they offered this fix free of charge, although completely unexpected. I've been recently having trouble with my iPhone 6s+ and the the charging port. Every single cable I've used was having difficulty charging my phone unless held in a particular position. I was about to give up, but I looked this place up on yelp and decided to go in. I was greeted by an employee named Jack. He was very helpful from beginning to end. I'm not the best with technology, but Jack was able to diagnose and explain to me in simple terms what was the issue. He said over time dust just accumulates in the open ports and prevents good connections. He fixed the charger port issue, cleaned the electrical leads in the port, and cleared out any potential issues in the headphone jack. I felt like a valued customer from the moment I first stepped into this store, and now phone is back to 100%. I would highly recommend anyone with phone issues to come here. Wow. What a great place !! I was playing with a musical group at the El Paseo in Santa Barbara, when the worst thing happened..... The guitarist dropped and broke his iPad . I didn't have to play till second set, so I tried my luck and rushed over to Drop Smash Fix. I was greeted by Jose and told him my situation.....I only have an hour before down beat. He said that is not a lot of time...but he'll do it. (ATTA BOY !!) Not knowing the surrounding area , he guided me to a Mr. Peet's Coffee across the way. ( great coffee). i called ahead and wanted to make an appointment for my shattered iphone 6s. the gentleman on the line quickly made it clear that an appointment wasn't necessary and to come in at my earliest convenience. upon entering, with slight uncertainty of what service to expect, i was quickly turned around with the knowledge and understanding of a young man named Kaleb. he was surely the only man on staff and despite other business occurring around me, i felt he was there to meet my every need. ...look, in a day in age where folks like me were born before the '90s who can't fully wrap their minds around todays technology, we simply can't deny the fact: we need people like Kaleb to help us out. of course, we don't want to pay money for something we already paid money for, but it's straight up made of glass. glass breaks. Dropped my new iphone 5s in the surf last Friday morning - totally immersed in sea water for about a minute - went on line to look for info - uniformly bad news - contamination, shorting, irreversible corrosion, etc. ! Fantastic experience!!! So... the earpiece speaker in my iPhone stopped working today. I dropped it off with Jaydon. He told me that's rare to happen and they do not see it a lot. He gave me a reasonable quote to fix it and said it would be about a half hour or so to to get it done... He shot me an email about 30 minutes later saying the phone was all set to pickup! It seems like once a year, my iPhone gets too hot to handle, as in literally almost catches fire when I leave it too charge. It's a simple solution- a new battery, but I lack a lot of the technical know how, and i have a hard time maintaining the concentration to watch a some nimble fingered electrical engineer change it on a youtube video. Despite years of being careful with my electronics I had my first drop and glass screen damage on my iPad Air2. Called a few places and got a referral to DropSmashFix from a Mac repair service we'd used in the past. Received clear information on the phone regarding the repair timeline and cost. They let me know they did not stock the part so I would need to come in and pay for it, then they would order and call when it was received. Went in and ordered, 2 days later they had it and I left my pad for 2 hours while they made the repair. Cracked my iPhone screen from top to bottom with some pieces ready to fall off. I made an appointment do 9 am and was warmly greeted when I arrived. Brandon helped get me squared away and let me know that the estimated time to fix it would be about an hour. I called about an hour later and my phone was ready. I arrived and was amazed at their work! It looked brand new!! I was quoted $99 and that is what I paid for the replacement screen. Kaleb replaced the smashed screen on my grandson's iPhone 7 plus in half the time predicted. He charged the battery a bit, which had been left uncharged since the screen was smashed, and gave a clear explanation of why he could not check whether the apps worked. The smashed screen had had the effect of entering the wrong passcode several times and so for security reasons the iphone had temporarily disabled passcode entry. We had to wait about 45 minutes until we could enter the correct passcode, which we did and got in. Kaleb was a good communicator and efficiently took care of the screen. I have been having trouble with my iPhone battery running down quickly, so took it to DSF to get a new battery. Caleb did the diagnostics and told me that it was a software problem running the battery down, and that there was actually nothing wrong with the battery. He suggested that I go to the Apple store and have them run a software analysis. Caleb could have just given me a new battery and sent me on my way, and I never would have known the difference, but instead he chose to be honest. I stopped by here on a Sunday and had Brandon fix my IPhone 7plus. I think the price was around 130ish, but I also bought a case with the repair as well. Had a few minor issues after the screen was installed with the auto dimming feature, but I returned before getting to my truck and Brandon quickly corrected the problem and I was on my way. My phone functions like new again and I couldn't be happier. Dealing with phone repair can be a pain in the ass, I'd definitely check these guys out before dealing with insurance turn around times or the hassle of the apple store. My daughter's screen of her iPhone was cracked and her phone wasn't working. There were a number of stores that were closed because the UCSB students were out of town on winter break, but not Drop Smash Fix. I called the store and spoke with Alan. So often, it's difficult to find a repair person who even answers the phone! But if you crack your iPhone screen, you can come to DropSmashFix, and they will fix it very quickly, email you when their done, and offer lots of smart advice on the latest options and accessories for your phone - even if they don't sell them! Had a great experience the other day (10/12/19) with the informative, kind, and hilarious associate, Leif. Leif was a joy from the moment my friend and I had walked in and answered every question I had regarding my problems with my iPhone 6's battery. He explained thourougly what the process would be to fix my phone's battery, and explained to me there may be a potential additional cost at the end if needed, instead of just surprising me when I saw the grand total.
