I was quoted a price for a rush job on hemming my pants, over the phone. When I got there they ignored me for about 5 minutes to pay attention to another customer, even though there were 4 people. When I went to pay the price increased from the phone call. I needed gave work done but I don't appreciate the bait and switch. Then I got home and the job was done with an awkward slant. (If their price offends you, there are cleaners about a block away that charges $10 minimum, so ask around.) I dropped off my clothes past their 11:30am cut-off time for same-day pick-up, but my load was ready earlier than quoted the next day. My clothes come out softer & smell more fragrant when I wash them at home, but I was pleased with the convenience & turn-around time so I'm rounding up. THE WORST. I gave an expensive shirt to Drop Spot as part of many items. All the items came back (delivered to my building). HOWEVER, when I opened the shirt box (while traveling) it was not my shirt! I asked that they find my shirt. They haven't found the shirt nor offered any compensation or services in kind. Can't get it settled. I lost a shirt. They've lost a customer. I took peoples advice on YELP before using them. I would highly recommend Drop Spot. I have used them for tailoring, dry cleaning, as well as their wash and fold service on many occasions. They offer free convenient delivery; they open early and close relatively late; and they have friendly, kind people working in the store. I once brought in a pair of defective jeans that I had purchased on final sale without trying on (only to discover later that I something was wrong with the fabric and that, because of the defect in the fabric, the zipper would become unzipped immediately). I suspected that I would have to throw the jeans out, but I decided to take them to Drop Spot to see if they might be able to help me. Drop Spot fixed the jeans beautifully (and this was no easy feat!) and then generously turned down my attempts to pay for fixing the jeans! The Drop Spot is a true gem in the UWS. They are reliable, convenient, and competitively priced, and always greet you with a smile. I've been using them for almost two years now and I am always impressed with the quality of their work. Their dry cleaning restores my garments to like-new condition, whether it's silk dresses or button down shirts or suits. I also have a white wool winter coat which is forever getting stained, and they got it back to pristine condition even after a season's worth of dye from my jeans rubbed off on the inside and black grease from an airport security conveyor belt stained the entire back. But even better than the great dry cleaning is their absolutely fabulous tailor (there on Mon, Wed, Fri only). He's not cheap, but his work is impeccable and well worth every cent. I've gotten more pieces altered at The Drop Spot than I can count, and everything always come back fitting like a glove. From getting dresses and shirts taken in to improving the fit on a jacket to changing the hemline on a pant, I've never been disappointed with the results. I've used many, many tailors over the years, and I can confidently say that I've never worked with someone with so much talent and relentless attention to detail. And he's so accomodating - I've had major alterations made to dresses the day of an event on more than one occassion, and I can always count on them to be done on time and perfectly executed, without even so much as a rush charge. And if the estimated price is ever more than I want to pay on a particular item, he'll suggest alternate tailoring strategies to lower the cost without compromising too much on the results. I have a designer trench coat that needed cleaning and wanted to use a dry cleaner I could trust. Also, I needed some items tailored - a skirt hem repaired, the hem of a pair of jeans shortened, and a long wool skirt changed to above the knee. Alterations can be really tricky, especially jeans, so I called Barney's (which us just around the corner from drop spot) to see where they take their merchandise for cleaning/repair. They recommended Drop Spot. The dry cleaning was pricey, but I expected that for the brand coat I had. The alterations were perfect! Getting jeans done can be scary - I've seen some too short and they get ruined. The length on my altered pair, after discussing with the tailor, was perfect. His advice was spot on and the stitching looks nearly exact to the manufactured seam. It wasn't as cheap as a regular dry cleaner, but you get what you pay for - I'd rather pay a bit more and have quality work done. All in all, I'm get happy with my items that were altered and cleaned. I'd definitely go back when I need other coats cleaned and items altered. read more

ruined a shirt in the first 2 weeks of going there. asked them to try to fix it and they tried to charge me for the drycleaning to do that. almost ruined a brand new comforter that came back in a plastic bag wet and smelling like a basement, but luckily a rewash fixed that. overall bad customer service and unwillingness to take responsibility for their shoddy cleaning. spent 4 years at a single place on 89th street but i'll be taking my stuff somewhere else. read more

I could not give these guys a sufficiently poor rating. I dropped off my garments in a locker in the basement of my apartment building. After waiting about a week and a half, I noticed via their app that my belongings had not yet been delivered; actually they had not even been picked up! After trying to cancel my order a few days later, the app was glitchy and would not even let me cancel my order. Since I had an order in, I could not unlock my locker to retrieve my belongings. My garments were locked out of my reach. After trying to contact them, I realized the phone number and email address on their app was actually incorrect. I repeatedly called the number provided on their website and never got a response or a callback. Finally, after THREE WEEKS and intervention from my landlord, I finally heard back from the service saying they would come unlock my locker. FIVE DAYS LATER I finally have my belongings back. They had my clothes in their possession for FOUR WEEKS and never cleaned them. An absolutely terrible experience. read more
