My daughter's car broke down on the freeway in October. I had it taken to Driver's Edge in Arlington. They replaced the intake manifold for $2700. Months down the road same symptoms. Took it back in this time to Driver's Edge in Keller. After diagnosis I was told it needed a manifold. I told them it was replaced in October. I was told it should be warrantied and he'd get back with me on that. He called me back later and said it wasn't the manifold but the actuator. I told him we planned on replacing the car and didn't want to spend anymore on it than necessary. He said it should be fine as long as it is t idling more than 15 minutes at a time. We chose to avoid the repair cost of about $800 based on that. A few days later it started getting worse. Now it wouldn't start for periods of time. Took it back to Keller location. After diagnosis I was told it needed the actuator. Told them to go ahead and replace it cause my daughter needs her car until she can get another. A few hours later I got a call back that it also needs a manifold. After hours of them trying to verify that it in fact was a warranty repair plus the cost of the actuator they ordered the parts. Fast forward the repair was done another $800+ later and my daughter picked up her car. That same day it started doing the same thing as before. It almost died on the freeway again. The engine stated shaking and the oil light flickered. The car lost power steering and power brakes for a second and then began running fine. I called the Keller location and told them what happened and they said to bring it back. I told my daughter to take it to them soon as possible. She is a full time student and working full time so is very busy and planned to soon as she could. But days later it did it again. Today it won't start. Same issues as before and it's frustrating that I have spent well over $3000 with Driver's Edge and the problem persists. Every time I call it's a different person and we have to start all over again with them trying to understand what has been done and then be charged hundreds again to diagnose it. Due to this my daughter has decided not to take it back to Driver's Edge again and cut our losses. The car sits in her driveway broke down and she has to share her boyfriend's car until she can find another car. I agree with her that it is frustrating to deal with Driver's Edge and that we should just take the loss and avoid them at all costs. I feel like they misdiagnosed the car multiple times and just replaced expensive parts hoping it solved the problem. Also I had them rotate the tires and they left a center cap from a wheel just sitting in the passenger seat. Apparently they lost the screw to it and so just threw the cap in the car rather than replace the screw or cap. Didn't tell us. I did call after that and they said bring it in and they would replace it. But when the car went back they forgot. It was still in the seat when she picked it up. She didn't notice till she was on her way from there to work. I give up with these people. If it does go to a shop it will be a different one. Never a driver's edge again. read more

Went in to get my headlight bulbs replaced. My vehicle has to have the entire front bumper removed in order to replace the bulbs so I wasn't expecting it to be cheap. I was quoted $300 and then went outside to discuss with my wife. We ultimately decided to look around a little bit more and see if we could get anything less expensive. The guy at the front desk was visibly upset and when I told him we were going to look around he threw his arms up and told me that "there was nothing else to do so we were done here". Extremely unprofessional. I will not do business with a company that acts like this. Take your business somewhere else. read more

While the employees are nice and I trust their work, the charge for parts is excessive. It's understood there is some markup, but the parts my Jeep needed, vapor canister purge solenoid and valve hose typically run $40 retail, they billed me $140 and $172 for! Add in a $140 diagnostic, despite inspection report showing what was failing. Labor fee was in-line, but I will for sure shop around next time for best overall price of repair, including fair charge for parts. read more

Tell me they'd get to it and call me back in 3 hrs, I end up calling them back in 4 hrs and it just happens to be the exact second they started looking at my vehicle. The manager who was there before Joe was a stand up guy and did great work. After several attempts to use these folks. I had to give up on them. Never really fixed what was wrong with either vehicle and charged way too much. My last quote from them was almost 4K. Took it to another shop and they really did fix it for 15 hundred. Took my 2011 f150 in for check engine light. They were able to figure out that the other mechanic that did the work put faulty parts on. They were able to get it fixed in a great time. The customer service was great. And they were knowledgeable about the repair. It also did not break the bank. I will definitely be back. read more

Well. Update to the last post. I normally don't do reviews like this, but this visit has warranted it. After receiving a $5,000 quote from drivers edge, after the technician failed to even drive the car in the first place to see what he felt, following an alignment not fixing the issue, I took it for a second opinion. Only to find out from Blagg Grapevine that it was a $300 fix of getting 2 new front tires since they were separating.... FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR quote... when it was a three HUNDRED dollar fix. Save yourself the time. Take your car elsewhere. Definitely won't be back, even after wasting $170 to get an alignment package when it wasn't even the issue. read more

Positives: assigned mechanic did an excellent job diagnosing the car engine light, found 2 fuel injections needed replaced, recommended all 4, which was the job done with excellence. Neutral: communication needs work as the desk leader asked about the 3 other dash lights that were discussed multiple times. For years we used the same shop to work on our Toyota vehicles until recently when they went out of business. We tried the new owners who paled in comparison to the old ones so the search began for a new place to get our cars serviced. One day I stopped into Driver's Edge needing a tail light bulb repair. They stopped what they were doing, washed their hands, replaced my tail light bulb and sent me on my way free if charge. So naturally when it came time for an all change service, I called and asked if I needed an appointment to which they replied no we accept walkins cheerfully. Highly recommend this place! Not only is everyone here extremely friendly and kind they also don't try to quote you some outrageous price if there is something wrong with your car. I have taken my car here twice so far for an inspection which they finished quickly. I also have an issue with one of my front lights which they told me could become a issue later down the line so I should think about replacing it soon. I told them the price that another shop quoted me (~500 for the part alone) but that I had found the part for significantly cheaper and asked if they would be able to install a part I brought in myself. They were 100% willing to work with me on that and quoted me a labor cost that was so affordable and..normal..unlike some of the other shops I've been to. However Andy, the manager, (the last time I was there) I had always been smug and not customer-friendly. He questioned why I went to another shop instead of going to Drivers Edge for a particular service. He was condescending and smug about it. I reported him to corporate. I hope others won't have the same experiences as I did. I loved when Kelly was the manager. He was always respectful and treated me like he valued my business. Made me want to come back. I have come here a few times over the last few years for oil changes and replaced my brakes at this shop, but I will never come here again. I stopped by for a quick oil change, and it cost me $99.95($115 with taxes) for an oil change. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I have never paid more than $60 for an oil change. *Update 2/27/17* I was contacted by two customer service representatives, and they offered me a discount and a refund for the overcharge. Really disappointed in this business. All I can say, is if they messed up an oil change which is the easiest job a repair facility can do, what would they do to something involving some skill and training. Took my older Volvo for an oil change. Watching from outside, I could see that the tech working on my car did not have the right size socket or wrench and was using an adjustable wrench to loosen the oil plug. I couldn't believe that a repair shop didn't have the right size tool and was using the wrong too to do the job. When the tech was putting the plug back in, I told him not to tighten the plug too much as I knew a lot of pressure on a bolt with an adjustable wrench would round off the edges of the plug making it harder to get on and off in the future. The next morning, I noticed a sizeable amount of oil on my garage floor. I took the car back to the shop and the manager was there. He put the car on the lift and confirmed the car was leaking and that they didn't have the right tools to do the job. He then sent me on my way without any steps to rectify the problem. And, he made no attempts at customer service; nothing like a free oil change to make up for their incompetence. And there was no assumption of wrong doing on their part. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE, SCAM ARTISTS AND OVER PRICED. My boyfriend was having issues with his car and decided to use this repair shop since it was the closest he could get to on 12/23/22. After getting a call back from Joe (same day), he tried telling him that it would be $8K with parts provided and so he asked if he was to provide the parts how much would it be. JOE SAID 5K IN LABOR EVEN AFTER PROVIDING OUR OWN PARTS. Joe told him he needed an engine replacement, new head cylinder, and new radiator. We ended up using my boyfriends uncle who is a mechanic to come pick it up. His uncle looked at the car for 10 minutes and saw a leak in the radiator and it was driving in the same day. AWFUL. Joe also was holding onto his key since his car was in the shop and told us they were open until 6:00 PM. We went back at 5:30PM to get his key so we could tow it before the holidays AND THEY WERE ALREADY CLOSED. Due to this my boyfriend was not able to go see his family for the holidays. My wife took in her '07 Ford Escape which has never had any maintenance beyond brakes, tires, and oil changes. We braced ourselves for a tremendous bill. Even after my prior great experience with my car, the overall price tag was on the higher end of RepairPal.com estimates and that gave me pause. Thankfully, the hesitation was unfounded. The quote (and final price), while still on the higher end of RepairPal, was reasonable. It's much easier to swallow because Driver's Edge is open on the weekend, every car repair we've had has been completed same day, and the guarantee on their work. Andy again was great. We thought long and hard about going to another shop that promises to do high-quality work for a far lower cost. Driver's Edge has done right by us this far, though, and keeping our older cars on the road is far less expensive than new car payments. read more

I'd had a few good experience with these guys until this past week. They seem to have gotten a new manager who's trying to generate some profits through unnecessary car maintenance. I took my car in to get the radio fixed because it was turning off randomly and acting like it was shorting out. After a day of having my car they said...."well you gotta take this to the dealer to reset the software...cuz we can't do it. But, there are about $2,000 worth of repairs your car DOES need." They specifically said that the brakes were at 10% remaining. I called Alliance Dyno to see if they could beat the $2,000 price of Driver's Edge. They said they could do all the services for right around half the cost if not less. So I took the car there with nothing else done. Alliance said my alternator was overcharging and that could easily be the problem. They recommended changing that and seeing what happened. That was it! No software reboot from the dealer needed! Also, they said all the other "needed services" were B.S. The brakes were closer to 50-60% remaining not 10%. So my car was fixed with a single new alternator and an honest mechanic. Go to them instead of Driver's Edge. read more

My husband recently went into the store in Keller Texas with the engine light on. The manager said the upstream O2 sensors were bad. He pushed the unnecessary fuel injection system for $219 and said the complete job would be $2054.00. My husband, not being a mechanic, agreed. I later found out that he was charged $649.00 apiece for the sensors. The cost for this job on their website is $950-1079. There are no 02 sensors online for this amount. The manager said he just wanted to make sure we were getting the very best ones. Toyota cost for sensors for this vehicle run 160.00 to 300 each. My husband questioned the manager about the cost and there was no offer to check this out or course of action. A friend from church took him to this place and highly recommended it. While there the friend mentioned my husband had been a police officer. Now I hope this isn't the case, but the thought entered my mind that a 75 year old senior citizen was an easy target or the company is so woke it is anti-police. I went to the next level and was able to get $490.00 back from the company. This did not include the $139.00 diagnosis fee the manager said he would figure into the price. I will tell any and everyone I know about this went the subject of car repair comes up. This is the worst scam we have ever experienced. To top it all off, the engine light was still on when he drove off and the manager, Joe, said he just needed to drive it a hundred miles. It turned out when he went to a trusted shop that the problem was a bad fuel pump. read more

My sister took her car here with a rattle under the hood and they tried telling her she needed the following Crank Shaft Pulley $342.16 Timing belt tensioner $184.74 Balance Shaft Tensioner $169.19 Labor for replacement $937.13 ALSO!! You need Timing Cover $449.99 Serpentine Belt 89.99 Also said she needed the following which she declined: Oil pan gasket Power Steering Pump (seems to be a common repair they push) I brought to my dealership after she told me all this. Turns out it was the Harmonic Balancer that had a worn out boot making the noise. Replaced that and the belt less than an hour and 150.00 later she is on the road again. Nothing under the car was leaking, all dry to the bone. TOTAL RIP OFF! STEER CLEAR!!!! read more

Last Thursday I noticed a few small oil spots on my driveway after I pulled in from dropping the kids off at school. I had an appointment at 10:30, so I looked online to find an automotive repair shop that was close to where I needed to be. I found Driver's Edge in Keller, TX. I gave them a quick call to see if they had time to get my vehicle in to check it out- they did. "Wonderful!" I already felt like I was winning the day. Facing obstacles and such. I showed up at the shop and was greeted warmly. They hoisted my car up, and reported to me that I had a loose oil filter. They asked if I had recently had an oil change, which I confirmed that I had about two weeks prior. They told me they fixed the oil filter, topped me off, and cleaned up any resting oil. I was good to go, free of charge! Alex (the guy I was working with) even took it a step further and told me to bring it back in a week so they could take a closer look and just verify that nothing else is going on under the hood. "Oh my gosh. Awesome customer service! Thank you so much." I then went about my day. I went out to my car later that day to run to the grocery store. I then noticed a new, shiny puddle of something leaking. This puddle is bigger than the previous spots on the driveway. I got down on the ground, found a bolt hanging down that had a liquid droplet forming. I touched it and discovered that it was actually transmission fluid (translucent, red tinted fluid). I don't know much about cars, but I can spot the difference between engine oil and transmission fluid. My dad owned a transmission shop for 35 years. He gave me some very basic tips, and instilled in me a suspicion of auto repair facilities. "Always get a second opinion." HOWEVER, there is a social-conditioning component in this situation. I've bonded with these guys in a way. They took care of me, assured me my car was fine, and they didn't charge me for their kindness. So, my naïve self calls back up to Driver's Edge and explains that I am seeing trans fluid and it is leaking more. "Oh no! That shouldn't be happening. Bring it back up.", was the response I was met with. I picked up the kids from school and immediately drove back to Keller. After checking out my vehicle for about ten minutes, the fast-talking general manager, Daniel, reports the bad news. I need a rear main engine seal. The part itself isn't expensive, but in order for them to replace it, they have to remove the transmission. It's an all day job and will cost me around $1,500. They wanted me to leave the car with them, but I had stuff to do. So I went home, feeling guilty for even considering a second opinion because they had been so kind and accommodating. I slept on it. The next morning I got a referral to another shop. They hoisted my Enclave up on one of their two stalls and got to work right away. They brought me back into the shop, walked me under my car, assured me that I do not need a rear main engine seal, and told me that I just had oil sitting in the belly pan from the original loose oil filter issue. I was held aback. So, not only did the shop not clean up the oil as they said they had, but I do not need this $1,500 job done! Bill complimented my car and told me everything looks to be in really good condition. I took it a step further and showed Bill the bolt that had been leaking trans fluid. I asked him what it was. "That's your transmission." I exclaimed, "I know!! Everyone I've talked to has corrected me when I've said Transmission fluid, thinking I must mean engine oil." (I'm a girl, what do I know?) Upon further inspection of the specific bolt, they confirmed that it was unscrewed about 3/4 of the way, allowing fluid to drain out. I suspect, and so does the second shop I went to, and my father (35 years in the industry) that the guys at Driver's Edge unscrewed the bolt. Now, I can't claim to know intention here. It may have been just to get me back into the shop right away because they knew I would be hyper-aware of any leaks, or if it was unscrewed to slowly cause additional damage to my vehicle leading to more, VERY COSTLY repairs. PSA- DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLES TO ANY SHOPS ASSOCIATED WITH DRIVER'S EDGE. THEY OWN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, MANY DO NOT SHARE THE NAME "DRIVERS EDGE". (To find a listing of locations go to mydriversedge.com- don't visit anything aside from the website) Consumers- know your rights. Any time you have a repair done on your vehicle, you are entitled to receive your old part(s) to insure that the work was done. This shop noted on my work order that I requested disposal of used parts, which I did not do. I have a feeling they would have kept my car, cleaned it up really well and sent me on my way, none the wiser, no repairs actually made. I want to give that suspicious, uneasy feeling you get when you go to an auto repair shop a name- Driver's Edge. read more

Great place. Had a simple issue with my car but couldn't find out what it was. Stopped there to make sure it was nothing big or dangerous. It was just a piece of the plastic cover under it that had gotten loose. They fixed it really quick. Even though it was almost 6 pm they had a great attitude. This was the only place near me open on Labor Day. My son's car wouldn't start because of alternator needing to be replaced and the battery was drained. They sent somebody over to jump start him and follow him to the shop. The fixed the alternator and charged the battery back up. They gave me a military discount which I appreciated as well. Called ahead and verified that they could see me without issue that day. Brought my car in at 1 pm and again verified that I could get it seen that day. All I needed was a spark plug. Called to check on it at 5pm and they said there was one car ahead of me but they'd absolutely be able to take care of it before closing. I ended up going back up there right before they closed and they still haven't even looked at it. What a dang waste of time. The least they could have done is call and let me know. I ended up taking my keys back and bringing it somewhere else. What horrible customer service. read more

Just because I am a woman in a car repair place? My dad builds race cars so I was raised around mechanics and not all of them treat women like they are stupid! Wanted an oil change, had a 24.95 coupon. Was told it would be $55. I told him no thank you the dealership only charges $30. To which he responded "well then it's not synthetic oil". After being talked to like a child I left. He said something ugly when I walked out the door. If this is how this place does business I wish they would leave Keller! Being new to the area I was hoping to find an honest car repair shop when I starting hearing a grinding noise coming from my 2001 Honda Accord. Well I found out Driver's Edge of Keller is not it. I arrived at Driver's Edge and met Andy at the front counter. I explained to him that the blue book value on my car was not very high so I didn't want to put a lot of money into it, however the noise coming from the engine worried me. I also informed him that my front Motor Mount was broken and that I already had a brand new part. Andy told me that he could not use my part and that the broken motor mount could also be causing the the noise. Andy said he would have one of his Tech.s look at it. During the inspection I was asked by the Tech if the noise got worse or better when the A/C was running. I told the Tech that I wasn't sure because I hardly used the A/C and when I did the doors and windows were closed so it's hard to hear. A few minutes later Andy called me to the counter and said that the Tech reported to him that the noise was coming from the main pulley which had some wobble in it and it needed to be replaced. The Total repair would be around $600.00. I explained to him that the pulley has always had a very slight wobble in it and that I didn't think this was the cause of the grinding noise. He told me that it was and that it needed to be replaced. The A/C compressor was never talked about again. I understood why they could not use my parts and I agreed to the repairs. I left the car over night and never received a call from their shop telling me of any other needed repairs. The following morning , still never receiving a follow up call, I contacted them. I was told the car was fixed and I could pick it up. I arrived at the shop and Andy told me the car was fixed. After paying I was given my keys and when I started the engine the noise was still as loud as when I brought it in. Andy told me that the A/C compressor was making the noise and that the system would need to be placed at the cost of $1400.00. I told him that if they knew the noise was from the A/C compressor why didn't they tell me that from the beginning because I might have put the money towards that repair. He told me that the pulley was some of the noise and that it was hard to tell where the main noise was coming from. The pulley was at a cost of $199.98 and the motor mount which I had purchased on the internet for $20.00 was at their cost of $69.99 total repair before taxes $577.44 This shop is a total rip off I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I truly believe that they knew the noise was coming from the A/C compressor but since I already told them I did not want to invest a lot of money in the car they elected to sell me on other repairs. read more
