When I paid for the class, no mention was made that I would need to attend religious indoctrination in the form of a Christianity-based "12 step programme". When I discovered what was going on, I immediately reached out to Maria Sanchez, the director of this facility. She admitted that she was aware of the problem because other atheists and those with different religions had expressed deep concern over this requirement. She told me that she was looking into alternate, non-religious courses and that she would get back to me with an answer within a few days. She never did. Eventually I received a notice from the school stating that I had been removed from the class due to non-attendance, because I refused the religious indoctrination, of which proof of each meeting was required before being allowed into the DUI class each week. They also lied to the DMV and claimed that I had dropped out of the class instead of being forced out due to my status as an atheist and Taoist. If the DUI school and DMV don't have to respect anti-discrimination law, then I'm not sure why anyone should have to respect traffic law.
