We heard her introduce herself to the cashier as the new server and she was turned our way to take the order with no idea of what she was doing, no idea of what was on the menu, etc. Flavor was unimpressive and honestly I was so put off by the whole situation that I didn't even make a stink. I just paid and left the plate of food. I know this place gets some decent reviews and maybe our visit was an anomoly, but I won't be giving them a second chance. 3/18/2016 - Received the comment below from the owner who gave a bit of an explanation as to why things may have gone awry at the time of my visit. I'm happy to see the owner will be more involved and pleased that he has taken the time to drop me a note. The brisket was nearly flavorless, and both meats were bone-dry. Brisket is easy to get wrong if you're not experienced, but unless you overcook pork ribs to a ridiculous extent they're difficult to dry out that much. At the time we chalked it up to the possibility of a single off day, and resolved to give them another chance at some point. That point was yesterday, when we ordered (again, via DoorDash) the pork ribs again, smoked ham, collard greens, pinto beans and coleslaw. Well past the original estimated delivery time I received a call from our DoorDasher and Maxey informing me that they were out of pinto beans, so I opted to substitute more coleslaw. When the food finally arrived both meats were, once again, just as dry as they could possibly have been. It was actually difficult to tell where the rib meat ended and the bones began. Not even the BBQ sauce could save it. The ham was in a similar condition, though not quite as bad as the ribs, which were actually burnt (I'm not talking about bark, I'm talking about charcoal). The coleslaw was nearly flavorless, and while the collard greens were a little better, they were clumped into dense balls of leaves, making for a very unappetizing texture. We won't be making the same mistake a 3rd time.

It was absolutely disgusting, and I was unable to eat the food. I called to report the issue and requested a refund. Unfortunately, the young manager refused to refund the purchase back to my debit card and instead offered to remake the order if I came back to the restaurant. I explained that I was visiting from out of town and was already an hour away. I was not going to drive an hour back just to have an order remade that I had already been unable to eat. I told the manager that, since they were unwilling to issue a refund, I would have to dispute the charge with my bank. His response was that he essentially didn't care. I understand that mistakes can happen, but what was most disappointing was how the situation was handled. When a customer receives food that has an unusual chemical taste and cannot eat it, I would expect the restaurant to take the complaint seriously and make a reasonable effort to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, both the food and the customer service left a very bad impression. Since this was my first experience here, it will also be my last. I would strongly encourage management to review how situations like this are handled in the future.

Speaking of slaw it's a Texas staple flavored 50/50 acv to mayo base, nothing fancy and nothing wrong with it. Even on Mother's Day I could slip in, eat and roll out in under 45 minutes. Service is on par with getting a tip for promptness and offering anything else. Nothing negative to say. The walk up patio bar is still the way to go.
