Purchased a car here approximately one year ago. The car has been plagued with oil leaks as well as quite a few other fixes totaling over 2500 (car was 7000 to put it into perspective). List: broken light, doors not working, back breaks, oil leaks that caused transmission to be removed, tail light replacement, shaky front, etc. The car was certainly a lemon but checked out of Drive 5280's process. I feel taken advantage of due to the price we paid for the car. Will not be using their service again and please be careful when dealing with this company. We have purchased used cars before so we understand things will break on cars with 140K miles but this one was excessive and continues to be so. read more

Both were great to work with and enjoyable to talk to while navigating the stressful ordeal that is buying a used car (and I came in multiple times. Multiple questions. Multiple hours. Cars come with a warranty (which certainly helped me make my decision to purchase a used car). Hidey ho there oh wise Yelper. I don't usually hang out at car dealers, but today's outing was seeking an upgrade for my daughter. And, if you are like me, you are looking for good places to shop - before you look for cars. So, I look on Yelp first and pick who to do business with. Why waste time looking for a vehicle and then find out the place is sleazy? Drive 5280 was one of the top rated sellers, so I checked their inventory on line. Grab some coffee and have a seat, here we go... Web page: I like their layout and ease of getting around in it. It works even if you are on your phone. Searching inventory is very easy and filtering the results is too. The dealership: Their location on South Kalamath is kind of a strange place to have a car lot. But, a lot of their vehicles are kept inside a warehouse. So, it works out OK. When you want to drive one, they pull it out. It is fairly small, so there appears to be 2 guys running it. Salesman: Buzz was working with someone when we got there, he came over and checked in real quick and then went back to the others. This cat is pretty mellow and doesn't push anything on you. I told him what cars I wanted to see and he got them out for us. I would suggest letting them know you are coming down. With 2 guys there, it's a good idea to let them know what vehicles you want to see. Vehicles: They have a decent stock of Subaru, Toyota, Honda and Acura brands. I would estimate 1/3-2/3 SUV to car ratio. When it comes to the money part, Ed the owner takes over. He needs a name tag that says that - just for entertainment value. I had a trade in and he gave me the higher end of the value range. No arguing involved in any part of this transaction. That was a nice change of pace. I didn't finance the car, so I can't speak for the loan process. I did notice they have a link on their web page to apply for a loan ahead of time. This was my daughter's first experience at a car dealer. They made her feel welcome and didn't treat her like a tag along. Parting thoughts - if you walk into some place with an attitude, I'm pretty sure that's what you will get back. So, your opinion of this dealership and the guys there may be different than mine. The prices were very fair but what really sold me was the warranty that comes stands with every car they sell. I got the car I really wanted and was in love. I did however have an issue with the transmission about a week after getting my car. The warranty company was easy to work with and got me into a shop right away. The part that amazed me the most was that the guys at drive 5280 lent me my old car that I had traded in to use while they fixed my new car. They blew my mind with kindness and understanding of what the customer needs. They were patient and very helpful. And when all was said and done and we dropped off the loaner and left, I looked in my rear view mirror and there was Buzz flagging me down! My son had left his backpack in the car and Buzz chased me down to get it back. Thanks do much guys! You are most definitely the best!!! read more

Nice guys. Smooth talkers. At first I thought what a nice place. I would definitely buy another car from them. But I had a bunch of problems with the car I bought and they didn't help me at all, so I will NEVER go back to them again. The warranty is what sold me on the car in the first place only to find out the warranty company is a scam. They didn't cover anything from the leaks to the chain that needed replacing. They kept saying you never have to replace a timing chain. Took it to my mechanic who basically said the same thing until we convinced him that Nissan had a class action lawsuit and he should look at it. Turns out the guides were eating through the chain and if we didn't bring it to my mechanic it would of blown the engine. We called the warranty company and was told it wasn't under warranty. If that isn't under warranty, then what is??? We found out NOTHING is. After calling Buzz about the issue first, he kept saying that they would put me into a different car. But they didn't have another model of the car I wanted, so I was trapped and we already spent $1,000 on new tires and put a new stereo in the car. Additionally, we didn't want to "start over" again with another car that needed repair work. He also said to send in our receipts to see what he can do. We never heard back from him again regarding the issues. Their only promise is a warranty that is a huge scam and to put you in another car. Liars. never will I go back again. Nice guys. Smooth talkers. But I had a bunch of problems with the car I bought and they didn't help me at all. First, they kept saying that they would put me into a different car. But they didn't have another model of the car I wanted, so I was trapped. If the car they sold me was bad and I caught it in one day, I should have received a refund. Not a different car I didn't want. Then they said they would fix the problems, but they never did. They said they fixed problem #1, but they only reset the warning message. It came back on a day later and they asked me to take it to their guy to be fixed. Again the warning light came back on a day later. Problem never fixed. My issue now. Then problem #2. $600 to replace the switch that rolls up a window. I can roll it down, but not up. They said it was too expensive for them to fix. My problem. Sorry. But...they did offer to help me by finding a salvage part for cheaper. I never heard back from them. Again...my problem. Then problem #3. The AC switches over to heat on its own. I caught this right away. They said they took care of it. But they didn't. And they had my money already. So now I have to pay another $600 to fix that problem...assuming the cost stops there. All in all, they sold me a car with a lot of problems. I asked to cancel the sale and they would only "put me into another car," which I didn't want. Then...promises, promises and lies. I got taken. These guys were so nice. I had a problem with the car I bought and had to take it back twice. But they got me in a gorgeous Audi A4 instead of the car that was not working for me. I really appreciate their flexibility and attentiveness to my problem. When there to test drive a car. I noticed how the pricing was relatively lower than other dealerships. Buzz was super nice and helpful, gave me the key and let me test drove the car. He was very detailed in explaining the car history & was real friendly. I almost got a car from him but ended up picking another car from a another dealership because they have the perfect color. On August 18, 2020, I walked into Drive 5280 to look at a used Hummer, end up purchasing it and have regretted it since. I completely understand that there is risk when purchasing a used vehicle. But I purchased the vehicle from Ed Bronstine (Owner) because of two reasons: the warranty offered; and the fact that Ed gave me his word that he would work with me if significant issues arose. Then it began..........Within a day I sent a text to Ed notifying them that the vehicle needed an alignment and that a leak was found. Then, on August 29th, the vehicle did not start, so I replaced the battery. Two days later it did not start again. So I was instructed to call the firm that handles potential warrant items and was instructed to bring the vehicle into one of their pre-determined garages for inspection. On September 2nd, I was informed that the Power Steering Pump, Power Steering Line, Motor Mount, Transmission Mount, Radiator, and Radiator Line needed to be replaced and it needed an electronic key (FOB). How in the hell was this not identified when 5280 did their inspection of the vehicle???? At this point the bill was already over $2000 and I have only drove it three times. I assumed Ed was going to work with me s after informing him of the issues but instead he replied and I quote "his hands were tied." So I paid for the repairs and final got the vehicle back after 10 days. On Sept 17th the vehicle would not start again so back to the garage it went. After 33 more days and another $500 bill I finally get the vehicle back home on October 20th. Two days later the vehicle would not start again. From what I am being told this issue was likely present prior to Ed selling me this vehicle. So for the last 90 days I have not drove the vehicle as it is not fit for its intended use. It is not a reliable vehicle. A used piece of junk that I will likely have to sink another $2000 into it just to make it reliable. There is a reason why major banks do not do business with firms like 5280, it because of these issues. That was told to me by my bank, hence the reason you have to get financing from a credit union. It's sad that Ed bought a vehicle from auction then pawned that headache on me, just to make a profit. I assume people work hard for their money and why you would risk buying a car from this dealership when these potential issues could arise. I have paid an additional $3000 over what I paid for this vehicle and it still is not reliable. What Ed sold me was a headache, a vehicle that is unreliable, just like his word. I bought my mid size SUV here. That evening I discovered there was a headlight that was out and a crack in the lower portion of the windshield. I went back and spoke with Buzz the next day and he had the headlight replaced and then made me an appointment for a new windshield. Buzz is a standup guy and made sure he fixed all of the problems the car had even after I made the purchase. I'm sure there are a lot of places in the Denver area that would've told me "You bought the car as-is, it isn't our problem anymore" but Drive 5280 is not one of those places. At first they were very nice and accommodating. We loved the red Subaru Forester we drove. However we drove it in the dark not realizing that there was no manual or car mats in the vehicle. That was our fault I guess. However when talking about prices my husband had to step out so that we could get my license plate number and upon his return the dealer acted like him and I had agreed on a price. We hadn't! Also, after the winter months had passed and we weren't in need of a heater anymore we realized that the ac didn't work. I wouldn't call this honest selling! Plus after having the car about a year we had to put about 3,000 dollars into it. I know that you accept that with buying an older car but maybe we would have looked further if we got a real inspection from the place. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone and feel like I got fooled into buying a bad car. But live and learn! read more

As a first time "used car buyer," I have to say that Drive 5280 made the experience much better than I anticipated. I was dreading the sleazy used car dealership antics that I have heard about from so many others as well as the new car experience of haggling back and forth for hours. The folks at Drive 5280 made sure that neither of those things were experienced. After doing (too much) research online, I showed up at the shop with a spreadsheet comparing and contrasting the cars I had narrowed it down to (it was still about 15) and about a million questions for Ed. I test drove several different CR-Vs, and Ed showed me the Carfax history on each of them and explained how he chooses all his cars in stock. He went over the warranty that they offer and was even willing to look up Carfax on cars at other locations. After sleeping on it, I came back the next day to make the purchase on a 2006 CR-V with 93K miles , but before doing so, Ed let me take the car out for a few hours and even get it "dog approved" since making sure it was dog friendly was a priority of mine. The actual purchasing process only took about 30 minutes while I worked with Buzz. With the insurance money from my previous car that had been totaled I only needed to finance a small amount which Ed allowed me to do in-house at a GREAT deal. I can say that I drove away completely content with not only my purchase but my experience as well. I would, and already have, recommended using Drive 5280 for anyone looking for a used car! And of course the candy and dog treats for customers and pets was an added bonus as I tend to always trust someone who has a love for chocolate and dogs. Thanks, guys! read more

I bought a 2005 Subaru Forester from these guys a few months ago. I was a bit shaken up after my car being totaled in an accident and needed a new one, stat. I looked at many, many other used subaru's in and around the city and nothing compared in quality and price. I mean nothing. The forester I bought, though it has higher miles than I anticipated, was in nearly perfect shape and was very well taken care of. The price and quality made it a lot easier to sign the paperwork. The best part about these guys is they have their cars cleaned, head to toe, engine and all. This gave me a very clean and clear vision of the vehicle before I'd buy. Other dealerships not only didn't clean their cars inside and out but also failed to make small fixes that would make the cars much more sellable. A good work ethic means good business and next time I'm in the market for a used car I will definitely consider returning to their warehouse. read more

My wife and I had a great time buying a car from Ed and Buzz. As the other reviews stated, they really do just hand you the keys and let you drive it. We loved the car, but we wanted to sleep on it just to be sure. The next day we still loved it so we came back. During the negotiation Ed kept his cool and remained professional, even when I got a little "exited". In the end we got a great deal. Before I even had the plates on my car I had to put in a new transmission within less than two weeks. Sure there was a warranty that covered some of it but still had another $900 out of pocket not to mention having to obtain another car for two weeks while it's fixed. Then I start driving my car the day after getting transmission put in and it won't start until multiple tries and check engine light with multiple other lights are on! I have had the car in a shop over half of the time I've owned it and after transmission went out had to get new cv joint and now I need a new catalytic converter.I cannot handle this. I have two small children that I was almost in an accident with when the transmission failed. I also put everything I had into it and cannot work full time cause I have a child with special needs. We are in a horrible position and this only makes it worse considering I take my son to the ER atleast twice a month and I need a reliable car for this reason!!!! I did not just go in to buy a piece of junk for $10k . I asked the dealer to help or do a trade in and the only help they offered was referring me to the phone number on my warranty paperwork. I just can't fathom the integrity of helping some and not others. We bought from them because of all the wonderful reviews of them helping people or offering a different car, these must be fake cause we got no help at all. I would have gladly let them give me another car with same money but they said they couldn't take the car back cause they would have to auction it! I understand used cars are as is but there are so many problems that should have been clearly seen upon "inspection" and I would hope that would have been a conscious decision not to sell this car in this condition. read more

Earlier this fall I was shopping for a car for about 3 months when I saw an 06 xterra available at this dealership. 18 years old I was working and asked my mother to go check out the car for me. She said the business seemed very good and trustworthy. She got the truck for 8,000, which is a little overpriced but they offered an extended warranty which is the whole reason we bought it. What's there to lose? Well, within the first 2 weeks of owning my truck I had a leak coming from the rear axel and brought it into a shop to have it looked at. Turns out, I had leaks coming from the transfer case seal, rear differential seal, radiator, and power steering. $1500 in work. I called the warranty company and they pretty much told me these are all normal wear and tear and won't be covered, so I thought ok. You buy a used car, it's not gonna be perfect and you'll have to put at least a thousand into it. Months later I came across an article about nissan xterras from 04-08 having timing tensioner issues and would make a whining noise when driving, which is exactly the noise I heard from my car. I was about 100% sure the tensioners were going out and needed to be replaced, which is a very expensive fix. After getting it diagnosed by my mechanic, I called the dealer and talked with buzz. Buzz told me that the timing chain should never ever have to be replaced and refused to acknowledge the fact I already got it diagnosed and know it does, in fact need to be replaced. He said the warranty should cover it if it does and I told him they won't cover it as they already have my covered anything else. I asked him if they inspect their vehicles (related to the first issues with my car) he did they do and I asked him how they some way missed 3 leaks coming from the bottom and didn't want to tell us about them, or fix them before they sell it to their customers. He didn't have an answer. After telling him I just bought this car, 4-5 months ago and have already had to put $1500 into it and now will have to put another $2000+ into that this is ridiculous. They claim they stand behind their vehicles. They do not. Not to mention the smart question he asked me "when you need new tires do you want us to replace those too?". I'll never go back. If their 'mechanics' can't inspect a vehicle properly I wouldnt trust any vehicle form there. The most they offered to us was that they could revalue my car to trade it in for another one. Why would I want another car when then one I just got from there has already had these issues? Makes no sense to me. Just got my car out of the shop after being in there for a week. Warranty company is supposed to cover powertrain, transmission, and engine. Apparently it doesn't cover anything cause timing tensioners, guides, and chain are the heart of the engine and weren't covered at all. $2500 out of my pocket read more
