I took my time doing the hike--listened to some music; noticed the different plants; took breaks; and then, took my headphones off to really soak in nature. It was so therapeutic. Once I reached the final point, I noticed it was quite packed when I went around fall season; and I'm not surprised. The weather was perfect to dip in the hot springs; and the colorful fall leaves made my experience extra vibrant. The water was clean; temperature of water varies depending on where you're sitting; and each area vary in size. As for someone who enjoys exploring and all the adventures, I decided to take my time to sit in each hot springs. Honestly, my favorite is the first one as the hiker approaches the start of hot springs. It's not big, but it's more secluded. It has a nice balance of shade and sunlight; little waterfalls; and some rocks to hop over and/or sit on. I felt as if it was part of my backyard, lol. I couldn't help but to take so much pictures. I'm definitely coming back again during the spring or summer to experience it differently.

We didn't want to pay for a hot spring since the other ones were busy and the "natural" element is no longer there. However, we weren't as prepared as we thought we were. We visited this hot spring in late December which meant a lot of the roads leading there were closed due to the snow. We walked about 1 mile before reaching the trailhead. Once you reach a sign that points straight and right, take the right to cross the small bridge towards the side of the mountain. Our saving grace was google maps but it wasn't fully accurate at times. Remember that once you cross that bridge, the river should stay on your right until you reach the springs. This trek was TOUGH and feels like 10 miles (when it's only about 5) because of the hills and thick snow/ice. We did not have spikes or sticks to help so we had to rely on each other and our surroundings. It took about 2.5 hours going since we didn't stop and were going fairly quickly and this is coming from someone who does not hike regularly. There was a portion of the hike that was a uphill climb using a rope which was probably the scariest part for me because it was icy and not stable (hence why spikes would help). Once you near the springs, the smell of sulfur becomes strong and the river begins changing color from clear to blue. There are 2 spots that is on google maps, the first one was very busy but it was not the main attraction. We kept walking and got to the actual fifth water hot springs which was still kind of busy but enjoyable. We got into both the hot springs and the cold springs and it was a very cool experience. The hike back was much faster since we knew where we were going but still hard. If you want to challenge yourself to a hike with a cool and relaxing reward of being in the hot springs, I would recommend this hike! I'm sure it's easier when it's not snowy/icy but being in naturally hot pools while your surroundings are covered in snow is beautiful and I would do this again. Tips: -We forgot towels which was a rookie mistake so make sure to take some! -Remember to take off any jewelry prior to going/getting in the hot springs because the sulfur will tarnish it. -Wear thick socks to avoid frozen toes. -The hike itself was beautiful so remember to look up and enjoy the scenery instead of always looking down at the trail. -Start EARLY because it will take at least half a day to complete

It was the perfect stroll for my young kids in the middle of the Summer because it is mostly shaded. The River was really high in June so it wasn't safe for kids to wade in, but I hear at the end of Summer or Sept it can be pretty low. The trail end on one end of the park but then extends beyond the park to the East and goes through a tunnel under the main road. Not sure how far it extends from there. There is a map at the beginning where I mentioned earlier. Perhaps a closer look with tell you those secrets. The trail is well taken care of and fairly wide and smooth. Great for strollers or for running on. HINT: There is a Fantastic climbing tree located in the middle of the trail in the Sports Park! So good, I climbed all the way to the top! :) Someone also attached a little swing that my kids couldn't get enough of.

This review is for Scout Falls via Mount Timpanogos Trail which was a ~2.9 miles round trip that…read moretook ~2 hours to complete. This was a short and stunning waterfall hike near Alpine, Utah. Like Silver Lake Trail; Mount Timpanogos Trail also begins with a surrounding of aspen trees and eventually becomes an exposed area as you climb up the side of the mountain towards the waterfall. There were a few water crossings but easily accessible with rocks. In addition, there was a slightly steep rock and root scrambling prior to reaching the waterfall. Furthermore, the trail was a narrow and rocky incline. Parking lot can fill up fast at the trailhead because a few different trails share the same parking. Restrooms available at the trailhead. It's about 3 miles round…read moretrip, and the route follows the same route as the main trail to the summit of Timpanogos, but branches off after about a mile and a half up to a beautiful waterfall. It's a moderate hike, not too steep but also steep enough where you feel like you're getting a decent workout. The trail is always a little wet towards the waterfall due to the streams that run through it. There's a bit of a scramble to the waterfall as well. It's also dog friendly so you can bring your pups! You can't beat the views here - all of the trails I've ever hiked in American Fork canyon are just stunning. It's my favorite canyon to hike, and my favorite place to be. I absolutely love it here. It's also a great place to go to beat the heat down in the valley, it's always much cooler along the trails here. This is a great hike to do if you're wanting the views, but not wanting to summit Timp.

My big complaint and the reason I give 4 stars is because the drinking fountain is awful. The water tastes like chlorine and it lingered pretty bad in my water bottle. Bring your own water cuz it's pretty nasty here.

You will see mountain bikers, runners, and hikers in this area. If you're looking for something chill, try out the short trails leading to some nice vantage points. For the more adventurous, take a deep hike into the valley and enjoy the lush landscape. Also very family friendly and dog friendly. Only wished there was more signage to help us navigate the web of trails. Update: We were able to hike part of the Slate Canyon trail yesterday. It is an 8.5 mi. loop, considered a "difficult" rating. Due to time constraints we were only able to check out about a quarter of it. Very beautiful view of the cliffs on the trail, and excellent resting spots with good shade. Very family friendly, with some flat parts of the trail and nice climbing as well. Carrier recommended for toddlers.

I used to hike the Y regularly back in my younger days (and let's be very, very clear--I'm not…read more*that* old yet). But this week I took my kids up, and it was an awesome, nostalgic experience. I was worried the little ones wouldn't make it, but joke's on me--*I* was the one huffing and puffing like an overheated freight train. It's not a super hard hike if you're in decent shape, but if you've been skipping leg day (or cardio day, or all days like I have), pro tip: take you time. The views are worth it, and so is the sense of accomplishment once you hit the top. Still one of Provo's best.
